  1. jkw is a pig get hold of sherriff amenitys they do a stem injector with 5ltr canister for £90 then get the stuff they sell for eradicating it i believe its similar to roundup but much stronger. you need to inject into main stem this will then go down into roots system and kill it off. then when the foliage has died then you can cut it but will as other posts need burning on site and the fire needs to be hot so a good base first. it will take up to 3 years if bad to get rid of it. make sure you charge the proper amount for doing this job its not a cheap job to do. have fun if you do do the job.
  2. if they do it to utlitie spec which they do not it should be 18inches in a tube down on sand and covered in sand so if digging you see the sand. if its 6inches get a tape out and measure it. stick to your guns and refuse to pay. let the insurance fight them. its not to the proper spec so they are at fault for putting it in wrong. had this with BT digging out a ditch they had just laid it along side of ditch not even buried pulled it up. and buried it under the spoil. left them to sort out if it did get damaged. there all the same have all these specs which they want you to adhere to and do what they want.
  3. had same down a village i work in found a large limb across footpath same as yours had snapped from main stem rest of tree healthy. also my next door neighbors about week ago fine sunny day no wind. large horse chestnut one of the large limbs just snapped off flattened there shed. rest of tree ok as local tree surgeon had a look and looked fine. so is it all the rain then the hot warm weather making them just grow mad and limbs are just failing. also had a ceder one of its branches just lowered down across path had to cut off.
  4. my honda,s have never gone wrong my last 425 went on for 10years still goes the shaft has worn out. so i got the 435. and picked up a 425stick. mine get hammered and i mean hammered. i do a lot of footpath cutting back and fieldpaths. did a field path yesterday 3 miles long filled up with string and fuel i did the lot both sides long grass brambles saplings. and did not miss a beat and did not refuel. last year did over 10 miles of paths when i got the honda and never let me down once starts first pull. and away i go rarely have to refill string will go for a half day. and just refill with fuel and string and carry on. they get bad press as there 4 stroke but not had any issues with them being 4 stroke. and for price againt the sthil or husky £200 cheaper. power of honda
  5. well i cleaned the wetpour what a job 6 hours later soaked and with start of trench foot. now gone thank goodness. but saw a chap from sherriff and they have a product will find out spray on leave for a few days and it kills the moss algae and spores and just rinses off. will try patio magic see if that works got loads to do. pity it was not private work be a nice earner on a hourly rate. but its contract
  6. if any one is looking for a extra pair of hands have spare days at present. have my brushcutter certificate.PA1 PA6 have 10mil public liability insurance. sadly at present do not have any cs tickets want to acquire them when funds allow. happy to help out if interested please pm thank you also have ride on zero turn mower and self propelled hand mower
  7. never had to ask to use a wifi as normally can log on to any sites i want with EE. and get on some remote sites with no people to ask.
  8. the law on rivers if you own the the river bank not the water that is not owned. then as riparian owner you have a duty of care to maintain that stretch.but also anyone entering your bit or fishing. if they do cause damage eg cut up bank pulling scrap out then its criminal damage. also be the scrap not from you but up river as it is now on your land you are the owner of said scrap and is your property. so they could be done for theft, criminal damage as they have damaged bank pulling scrap out. the law on trespass was done away it now is different. i am not sure but if they pulled it out of river i stand corrected then they become salvagers. and if you salvage then you are bound to clear all the rubbish not just what you want. case in isle of wight fisherman pulled a container in. thinking it may be worth something turned out all inside was ruined as he had salvaged he had to clear it cost him £20k to dispose of all inside and container. trouble is police limited on what they know re the law on this. and to get them charged would be hard work. no win. unless you want to pay a environmental lawyer to pursue it on your behalf. not cheap calculator.
  9. i have just got general grabbers AT2 cost £450 including tracking and balacing at micheldever tyres cheapest i could get them for. see you are in Kent HI Q are part of there group if you have one nearby. friend has them on his disco and done 40k plus and still got life in them hence went with them BF,s were £200 more could not warrant paying that. see how the grabbers get on
  10. if its just a hand held then try a Honda 4 stroke as good if not better than a sthil. when my sthil dies i will go and get a honda and its cheaper but well built. and does not have a stupid off switch like the sthil which breaks and costs to replace. now have to choke it to switch off. there not all that glitter sthil finding far better gear out there for a lot less.
  11. they are all separate PA6 knapsack but you can use a boom on one. to spray a wider path. then there are a few others PA2 ,3,4 list goes on all for different tasks. depends what your main role is going to be most do PA6 do the AW parts can be a string to bow spraying on waercourses. wish i had mine. would have to do a retest to get my aw
  12. for good sprayers as other posts berthound, solaria or like that made in japan, very good makes they do one which is battery operated so no need for pumping. good hing re knapsacks can buy chemical and put in CDA,s very good but limited what you get mixed to use in them . if its just general glyphosphate then cda is the route so easy just plug in prime spray reverse chemical goes back in container, ready to go again. and a 5ltr pack is equivilent to 10 25ltr knapsacks. so go,s a long way.and seeing what you can get them for knapsack unless using special chemical its a no brainer buying one when you can get a cda and chemical for same as a knapsack
  13. +1 most good agg machinery suppliers will have one on shelf, Lucas do a very good service injectors and pumps do a exchange service send old one in refurb unit comes back. seen them doing them and its like a F1 garage.
  14. when i did my Lantra brushcutter course we were shown the mashing of brambles to cut them down. much quicker and less snagging. sthil do a blade like a mower blade and it does a cracking job better than a triblade or clearing saw. worth doing this course learn a lot i thought i could use one but Tony Darbyshire showed a lot i did not know so worth doing has been of help when securing contracts having the paperwork.
  15. i would like to do my cs30 31 but cost is in the £700 mark and just can not afford to do it at present. have thing like new boots for truck £450. if i could find funding so i could pay each month would help but can not find any funding. government a joke they will not help as i work. and if i was unemployed would have to do courses they run eg IT how to work a PC what a joke. if your small and trying to get going no help.
  16. try a Honda 435 43cc cracking brush cutter. i clear large brambles with a mulching blade and it loves it. 4 stroke so no mixing just normal fuel. got mine for just over £300. i still say a honda will match any of the 2 stroke cc for cc and go on for longer and is more economical. i have the 425 stick and we used a sthil no difference in speed of cutting mine has bigger string easier to put on 10second job. and it ran for a good 10 mins longer on a tank of fuel. will not change. unless i need a animal of a cutter then would look at the biggest sthil or husky. but do not needd one mine does all i want it to do and it runs some days for 6 hours and does not miss a beat quieter than a 2 stroke.
  17. pilots who fly private have to have a log book of all there flights and have to keep up with the current regs, so why not for other things NPTC should do this have a log book of work you do gets signed. you just send it in once a year showing your up to date.
  18. if you do nothing the council will bring in contractors to clear it up and all charge you the costs of doing it. you do not say were you are in country but i am sure there is a fellow arbtalker who would give you a good quote to maintain it. that the easy bit its getting the other householders to pitch in. with the cost. if some are rented do you know who they rent them off housing asociation. you could say to them i will get it done for X can you contribute to having it done. the others need to see the money before embarking on doing it as for JKW needs stem injecting to eradicate it. spoke to a rep yesterday sell the injector for £90 plus the chemical thats £50 but will do that lot and some left over to get rid of rest next year. think you are going to have a hard job getting the others to do anything. and looks like the council will serve a order. then if not done come in and do it then charge you all a sum for doing it. knowing councils will not be cheap. hence if you have a quote you can challenge theres as to dear.
  19. weetabix 4 in morning with cuppa then take some biscuits for mid morning digestives if we have them. sarnie for lunch, try to avoid crisps. then have a cooked meal when i get home about 7pm. plus plenty to drink during day do like my oasis. if i get the shakes not very often get a choccie bar and drink boost me up.
  20. so sorry to hear this brought a tear to my eyes RIP Toby. you gave him a good life and should be proud of this. not easy when these things happen,
  21. a club wanted a tractor to pull there gangs. now i pay by paypal then if its a rum do i can get my money back but they paid for it by debit card went to collect no address was a scam £2500 gone not to be seen again.
  22. been removed not listed any more looks done by ebay. so may have been a scam
  23. reading last post just came flooding back some 15 years ago my late father in law was working in wood with my wifes uncle. god rest his sole they were collecting and cutting up wood father in law got in tractor to reverse and saw uncle laying down jumped out and he was not moving this was before mobiles were the norm he ran to road to try and flag down a motorist but thought he was a mad man until a local saw him. by time paramedics got there he had gone had a heart attack. if they had a mobile maybe. but it brings it back and how having a second person just keeps you not so tense and that you have back up if needed. now with mobiles now help is not far away even if its a air ambulance.
  24. i do not like working alone in the wood try and get someone to be around just in case. as for ringing in as other posts if you just rang then 10seconds later you need help and can not use phone. up creek without paddle. do you not know anyone eg retired who can be your banksman when down wood. even if it was in exchange for a load of logs now and again. may enjoy being out and keeping busy. even if its just get kettle going and watching you when felling. i am sure your other half would be happy that there is a second person with you.
  25. pull of the trigger release a set dose. i expect it has the dosage rate on the product. so you know how much to use. but one dose in main stem should kill most but i know talking to those who do it that you may have to repeat it the second or third year to eradicate the stuff. has a 90% kill first year.
