  1. "A review the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) has said that the levy is 'not providing a huge amount of funding for infrastructure' and has failed to provide a 'faster, simpler, more transparent system' than section 106." "We don’t actually think it’s providing a huge amount of funding for infrastructure, and it most certainly hasn’t provided a faster, simpler, more transparent system, " Peace. (Chairperson) also told delegates that the panel which issued a call for said evidence last November had to approach its task with “an incredibly open mind” with “all options on the table”. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't modified, however with the Gvt business as it is that is unlikely for sometime.
  2. I gave some chain saw training in my time. One thing I used to say was treat the saw as a firearm i.e don't point it at someone or let it point at yourself.
  3. Information might not be able to find easily; a lot of variables -depends on the Genera, soil and some nurseries stretch it a bit when they really mean extra heavy nursery stock for semi-mature (SM) Standards will again vary with genera, light standard 5years old, then going through the size range up to 10 yrs. A Poplar light standard reasonable in three years; Oaks could be ten yrs- hard to define. As posted a good nursery specialising in semi matures(SM) will know the age range they grow. I considered newly planted SMs live but often stand still, sometimes years. I reckon until they had adapted to new conditions including Myccorhiza balance in the soil.I have planted Beech 15 to 20 yrs old SM's, from own stock; As with all stock speed is the key to successful planting- the less time they are out of the ground the better.
  4. Bird landing in tree; shock horror. Might see it if it is a large bird on a particular branch and pooing on a car. I saw a similar application to remove a TPO tree for bird poo reasons. Answer don't park under the tree; or get a car cover; there was more available drive space. Also had one about placing a hot tub under TPO tree necessitating removal advice; err...don't put hot tub under the tree. I did see it was a sunny position. Nowt so queer as folk.
  5. Stake and plant as advised; plant with the lean towards the most sun to attract the best light to that side- to correct the lean
  6. I hike with a BackCountryBoiler a US smaller lightweight Kelly-type. I see some beaten up fire pans. I am guessing the fires are too big. A tip I heard was that if you cannot break the twigs with your hand they are too big.
  7. You are vunerable working on the highway without permission, risks to yourself, other road users, damages. What seems a good idea at the time can have serious consequences to you and your pocket.
  8. Very sad news.
  9. I think that job comes into the category; remove 75% of wood and maintain as a shrub.
  10. With Lime as you look up the twig growth is very angular, seems to be 90 degree from each other.
  11. Local bat groups often keep local records of known roosts. Check with your site with them.
  12. With my app it did not show extra pictures of each fungi, I uninstalled and then installed again and it was fine.
  13. Make the most of the brightest garden space and make growing upright tubes with corrugated cardboard, wire netting and soil/compost. Ok for salad crops. Spuds in bags, other vegetables in raised beds.
  14. The Tpo placed is for the LA to control work on an important tree.An application for necessary arboricultural work on the tree may well be approved; as conditioned.
  15. I managed a set up and dealt with a several claims over the years. To avoid just this situation- where something appears simple and then gets out of hand- the advice from Insurers is however seemingly culpable do not admit liability and report the matter to them. Also on the basis of why pay an expert insurer(a lot)and try deal with it yourself. Tell the spouse, they are can the ones who ding someones rear light, say sorry that was my fault and end up with the cost of total re-spray or write off. Garages can say, legitimately with an old car, we cannot get the paint to match we will have to do the whole vehicle, Write offs can speed up the claim process paper work and are soon viewed as an option. A repair, costing a few hundred quid (easy with mechanic hourly rates), can soon be more than the worth of the Banger shunted.
  16. Although I have not looked at it for some time my tree fungus app no longer shows pictures. Is it me; have I missed an update. Any info would be good
  17. Around me the rooks start building nests before March and I am in the north.
  18. I have done this on a Rubber Tree plant, Ficus elastica, I used a polythene bag and moist moss.
  19. +1 for Viburnum opulus, the buds do not look like an Acer; which have scales. Viburnum often have wispy bit at the bud tip.
  20. Welcome. Herbicide is the way to go. I guess you were understood but you might want to be sure of your spelling on some things as it can confuse. Acer on here will mean often mean Sycamore, sloppy- well means sloppy i.e very wet. I think you meant acre and slopey (if there is such a word) Sloping site?
  21. Often quoted in a Local Authority design and construction info, probably from the latest Highways Act. Footway Dimensions 2.00m Standard Width 3.00m including Cycle Lane .
  22. Lots of info on the net, glyphosate applications and cutting. Onereous re disposal of debris. I sold a property sometime back and was surprised to see in the conveyance pack special reference to the weed and a request for a JK action plan if it was on site-which it wasn't.
  23. I think you should have gone to the wedding. Age mellows you. I was once going to be in the dog house missing a wedding by preserving a many season full appearance record for a football team. I was off the hook when the match was called off with frozen pitch :-)
  24. Big Holly often have no spikes or serrations up high. My surmise is that they do not need to waste energy protecting leaves above the large animal browse line.
  25. Thanks for the information. My experience is a that you need to know your supplier. How has the bare root and burlapped stock has been handled i.e how long has it been out of the ground and how and where has it been stored ? If you grow some of your own stock the out of ground time can be kept to minimum, restocking costs minimised and tighter quotes given. Some schemes fail because already dead plants are put in the ground. Watering of large is stock is a must do.
