  1. Are you sure you are using the right words here ; apologies if it is me that is confused with your question. A tender seeks offers to carry out work or supply goods at a stated fixed price; a tender will contain a specification of the works that are to be carried out. Part of the tender document will have a section to be completed with your price to carry out the works
  2. I once rocked up to take out a 20 foot Hawthorn tree which I could see was very dead. I gave it a push and it moved. I thought I could push this over with a bit of help so two of us shoved it and it topples over. I then saw it was going in the direction of a larch lap fence (what fence). I screwed up my face thinking this could be costly and was relieved to see the top twigs miss the fence by about two inches.
  3. Cannot imagine any objection. After high winds with a hand saw I keep my woodland running route clear;also pitch any dead wood to the side. Ring Highways and offer to clear the obstruction. Take a photograph of before and after. If it happens regularly they may ask you to be a volunteer tree warden
  4. It is my view from travelling around that tree planting techniques have improved, better planting pits ,watering pipes tree compost. Many councils can no longer afford tree planting but some good landscape examples around Supermarkets. Street trees search for opens spaces nearby to get water and nutrients. Some of the real old street trees in inhospitable surfaces are gaining nutrients from sewers; some sewers have tree roots like curtains and not doing great harm to the pipes as they have been like it so long.
  5. +1 for what Kevin says. The bulk of the people in the Commons and the Lords are remainers; the EU don't want us to go. An agreement is going to be like knitting fog. I said at the time it would be fudged deal and also that in twenty years time it will probably make no difference but there is a lot of hassle to go through before then.
  6. Mmm.. the growth style does look more like P omorica.
  7. Fines are a priority debt because the magistrates' court has the power to send you to prison for non-payment.
  8. Likely to be Fraxinus angustifolia `Raywood`
  9. A hairy petiole is a tip for BP's. The Forestry Commission(FC) have a distibution list following a survey some years ago. If they are BP's your local Nature Conservation Trust may have seen the trees before and asked the FC to plot them.
  10. I would reduce the side branches gradually over a year or two, reducing overall leaf area, thereby reducing photosynthetic area, will affect growth.
  11. Consider shade will also affect the temperature in that area, this and the lack of light will affect insect visits which will be required for pollination.
  12. Yep, water cavities work. Gary, good explanation; better than mine.
  13. Is the tree in full leaf and otherwise healthy. Identify the hazards/target and estimate what the outcome would be if it, or bits of it, fell. If the danger is low e.g it just falls into a field the more credence to letting a tree survive; different adjacent a busy commute road. The branch structure links directly to the roots, i,e. a rotten branch will link now, or later, to a rotten root. In many old trees the heart wood drops away and the cavity dries out and the tree lives on; stronger wood trees like Oak last longer.
  14. Seems the whole village is covered by nine separate area Tpo's- not a single village Tpo. If the orders are confirmed they are effective; but sloppy and will be difficult to enforce as it is open to conjecture what is covered; better to know the numbers, location and genera then you can tell If a tree goes missing or had work done on it. If it is not clear just makes more work later on sorting out any issues, i.e to prosecute the LA would have to prove there was definitely a tree(s) on site; not easy with such blanket orders. Each property owner should have been informed -must go along the lines any tree in your garden is included in the order.
  15. I did read this one time, not sure how effective it is but worth a try if you are on your own. Heimlich maneuver can be done on oneself, wrap arms under your ribs, cough strongly. Repeat till clear.

    Pictures

I don't seem to see all pictures or attachments, suppose it could be me.
  17. The Gvt undertook the review, no doubt appointing a panel. Lots on Google. I have been unable to find the above exact quote again, I recall that was delivered by the Chairperson Liz Pearce at some conference. The report goes into detail and it appears there is call already in Planning circles to call time on CIL.
  18. Surprising what people think. Guy asked for the removal of his Tpo'd Cherry. Met on site and he said the tree was dead. I said the pink things above us are flowers so it is alive. He then said "Oh I don't know I am not a gardener."
  19. Health issues need to be diagnosed correctly before they can be properly treated. I know from experience thorn stabs can be difficult. I think as they are on the tree/bush for a long time there is more chance that they pick up nasties. I don't go along with the idea that germs on thorns are part of their defence mechanism; to me that is stretching evolution too far. Mmm though I suppose those with the best nasties could be dominant.
