  1. Mainly because it's a bigger chain length, and requires a bigger sprocket, the 3/8 7t is the same size as a .325 8t Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. So that's £520+ for just the main parts, there's still seals, ignition, starter, fuel tank, oil pump, clutch, handles, brake, muffler, connections, nuts and bolts, air filter, bearings... I reckon over £1000+ vat just for the saw to be completed, not including cutting equipment. You'd probably save a few hundred if you used pattern parts though Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Dolmar saw?

Huskys as far as I'm aware rev highest, dolmars are slower but have more torque as far as I'm aware, but you're better off speaking to timbercutterdartmoor about dolmar saws, as he has a major love for them and knows more about them Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Crank the shaft price or the casing price? When pricing these things up, people overlook the silly things, such as the starter, clutch cover, dogs, even the brake assembly, when you consider the screws are about £1 each, that's about £20 more! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Jonsered, usually cheaper than husky, but you can get the old and new range! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Gardenkit, you got any pics of coke-seizes? I know I worked on a stihl blower and it had a coked exhaust, so much so, that there was only 2mm open Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Mastermind also extracts much more power from the saws and ups the compression considerably, which causes the saws to run a hell of a lot hotter and straining the moving parts, meaning the lubrication needs to be higher. He also tunes the saw for the mix, most of the UK arbs do not tune the saws, and are ill equipped to do so, as 95% do not own a tach, and as a few have said on AS, whilst you can tune by ear, the tach is vital for intrinsic things, such as clutches on the large old saws. 8. Have you used a t540? They really do kick the 200t's arse! Or atleast the 540 I tried would beat my modded 200t that's running a chisel chain Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. The husky semi-pro stuff still rips! The 545 is the semi-pro 550, it'll still outcut a ms260/1 and might even match the husqvarna 346xp in wood Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. No, and Tbf why would you want one? The mounts are for bars over 20" and the saw would need skip chains or you'd take a week to cut a log Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. You took your time to chirp in niko Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. 550xp is a pro saw, better build quality, more power, better saw! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. He must have thought it was a thick BT cable, they're about 1/2" thick each! Those aerial bundled conductors shoot up rather sharpish when freed too! I almost got skewered today, was crosscutting some oak limbs from a tree previously worked on, a limb sheared from another tree, landed 10ft behind me, didn't hear it over the 051, bloke I was working with signalled me and pointed behind me! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. That's a BT cable? Looks like ABC from the picture Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. 3/8 Oregon chain so it's the 5.5mm (7/32), unless it's a stihl chain, which is 13/64 (5.2mm), but the 7/32 can also be used on .404 chain Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    346xp

So 20" ain't gonna halve it, stick with the 15" and cut it into blocks, similar to a #, with a name like Yorkie I assume you're based in Yorkshire, just advertise a play day for saws and I'm sure some on here would blitz it up Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Eddy_t

    346xp

How big is the tree? You said its 150YO, but I've seen trees vary greatly in diameter but only a few years apart Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. I prefer the Oregon guides BUT if you're sharpening stihl 3/8 chain, the stihl file is 5.2mm, Oregon is 5.5mm, also Oregon don't do the 3mm ones for the ms150 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    346xp

18" tops, but won't pull anywhere as good as a 15" Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Pull the plug and hold it against the engine (away from the plug hole) As for compression testers, they're fairly cheap and very useful Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. I was under the impression that the 2260 had the small bar mount, same as the 560, K095, whilst the 562 had the D009 mount Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Coil or low compression Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. It's bloody extortionate to convert, new flywheel £50, generator £20, wires £10, handlebar £50, rear handle inserts £20, carb plate £30 Note that's a rough guess! I priced up the 385 for conversion and it was in excess of £300! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Yeah, like the 2260 over on your side Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. That's the size for the 562 clutch Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
