  1. True most bits you can order, but the porting will be tricky... Unless one of the porters gets a free holiday
  2. Now get the saw ported, bigger (372xt) carb and a 36" b&c! Maybe a wrap too
  3. Dirko will work, that's what I've used before
  4. Doesn't look like an oyster, it has a central stalk
  5. It took you nearly 11 months? Gawd! French post must be slow!

The 50 and 60cc, you don't just test one saw out it helps to get a bigger picture. Though from what I've heard, the 50cc is similar to the 346 in terms of the way it runs. The 550 I used lacked the go.
  7. Have you never had a missus? They DO cost a fortune! Every so often they stop working too, down to operator error, and like a Stihl, the off switch never works when you want it to!

TCD, in direct threads, 'Stihl or Husqvarna' and 'what saw next' were direct brand saw threads, and there were several indirect threads where you've slated other saws, although I did disregard any mention of the 550xp, Ms 261 and Ms 362 as they are saws with about as much power as a wet fart. These are threads within my last 500 posts. As I have said before also, I dislike the ergonomics of the Dolmars, they look like 2 series huskies with silly felling spikes. I also said that trying to say they were superior to husky was stupid, considering they all use husky tech. I agree the outboard clutch is a crap design (it is niko, no other manufacturer used the damn design now!) but the 560 is fastest, and once opened up to what normal saws an exhaust, I would go as far as saying it'll out power a 70cc saw. Dolmar will always win in terms of torque, it's built to do so, as were Stihl, once upon a time. I would also gladly test said Dolmars, I'm curious to see how good they are. I'd also like to know if I could get real spikes for them, after I would inevitably end up buying one on a whim

Actually only dealers can get the software updates, we can only see the data, but I will see what I can get hold of soon enough the plug-in bit has been reduced to £100 now

I'm going to go out on a limb here but... Have you checked the flywheel position and coil gap? The flywheel key may have sheared or fallen out or the coil gap may be too large, retarding and limiting the ignition to 8k rpm
  11. Doesn't create jobs for pillocks with power tools either But yes, the job was to prevent trees growing on it, so the lake doesn't just become peat, thus protecting our endangered dragonflies, snakes, lizards and butterflies. But remember if we didn't intervene with nature, most probably wouldn't be here.
  12. Yeah, I noticed, all that clutter on my feed

They don't, everyone's policies changed when Hans Stihl took over in the 80's, likewise, zama carbs took a nosedive when that was bought by Stihl. It is more economically viable to buy and bin than repair and rebuild now unfortunately. It's unfortunate you had such a bad experience with your 550, the 560 is a belter. I will say that the echo toppers are damn heavy, in fact it felt like an 020avs! Never used it, don't know how it runs, but I don't find any problem with the 201 at WOT, so I couldn't comment on how the power feels. In terms of 60cc saws my choice would go: 560xp > the dolmar > echo > bowsaw or silky > ms362. So by process of elimination your logical choice is the dolmar. Niko, behave and stick to threads where you will be useful or appreciated, direct question threads should be answered directly as the op requests. Geoff, in application nothing matches what's on paper, otherwise Stihl would be top. I also question what people think are marginal values?! A few seconds here and there quickly add up. Likewise, how many operators can carry out field repairs? I've had saws handed to me as broken when all is needed is to dress the depth gauges! The e-carbs eliminate the 'idiot with a screwdriver' fault I have had to fix before.

    Hypocrite!
  15. Bloody hell! The 372 and 390 are usually bomb proof! In opposite to yourself, I've only had good experiences with huskies, Stihl I found hit or miss
  16. As I said, a definite brown trousers job, what Eddie didn't mention is that natural England destabilised the bog by punching a load of holes in it. We did clearance in an area where the peat was less than 1m thick! Pretty scary as you feel each persons footstep.
  17. Because the site is the largest in the UK, those bogs are extremely rare and traveling across with those waves is definitely a brown trousers moment
  18. That's as much as you will get for the saw, parts are rarer than rocking horse shite
  19. Depends, where was that? I was referring to a place called chartley moss in Staffordshire, bloody scary watching shockwaves as you walk across
  20. They run nice ported out of interest is the jungle muff a piped or deflector muffler? I find piped make the nicest sound, but, louvre type produce a deeper rumble and the deflector type are higher pitched
  21. Do bears poo in woods?
  22. Depending on the peat bog, I once did tree clearance on a 'floating' peat bog, 6 feet of peat on a 30m deep lake, my recommendation is find a way of spreading the weight as much as possible, ground mats, large, wide wheels with low pressure, and smaller loads!
  23. Ring, piston shard or gudgeon pin circlip, either way, something has to physically jam to stop the piston in the cylinder.
  24. Tree surveyor! Nice and easy, decent money too
  25. You retiring or something stubby?
