  1. They have the 1106 and 1111 series Stihl saws in the jungle too, the 070/090 have never had a chainbrake
  2. God knows, it's what I was told. Although I always thought the carbs had the little brass caps fitted, those carbs can be adjusted (such as the disk-saws)
  3. Husky term for a magnum muffler, because there's no emissions or noise laws in the jungle. They have no baffles, extra wide gas ports, and in some cases, more holes for the gas to get out
  4. 135 and aspen is the best option, even better with a Stihl picco super chain!
  5. 503 71 13-05 is the jungle muffler for a 395
  6. The manufacturer, Stihl or husky, but I'll be buggered if I can find one for the 560
  7. You may use any performance enhancing part (such as aus muffler) as long as the part is a genuine, approved part and fitted by a dealer, so jungle mufflers and magnum mufflers are covered under warranty
  8. Have you reset the carb? The idle may be too lean or rich It did, a lot, pulled my shoulder out, pulled me over at one point and killed 3 starter rings in the process
  9. I've ran 36" on the 385/390, once ported it pulls fast, but, to do so requires porting, muffler modding AND a new carb. The carb costs more than the porting
  10. A husky dealer, but they're the full wrap that Stihl calls the Canadian type
  11. Oh dear, he's like a kid at Christmas! At least randy remembered the sticker too
  12. No, no ignition advance, I learned that lesson on the 090!
  13. 13k rpm, this was done whilst the saw was running on aspen, I also checked it at a later time, and then before it was sent out. My porting is quite conservative, especially as the cylinder is OEM. You'll have to pm me a price for your crank, or I'll just offer £1! I have no idea on what to offer
  14. Rule number 1: never EVER lend saws out! Especially ported saws! I have always been lucky until now, as far as repairs go, it has always been simple repairs, split hoses and fuel based seizes. Stupidly, work asked to borrow a big saw, so I lent my ported 385 out. Today I have received it back with the words 'it's broken, it was running and cut out' so I stripped the muffler to see if it had seized or caught a ring. The rings were perfect and the piston was clean, so I took the cylinder off and immediately found the problem. The big end has gone... Spat a bearing and killed the piston. Oddly the cylinder lives and is perfect, so I'm in the process of stripping the saw to rebuild. The reason is either poor mix or incorrect warming of the saw. To say I'm pissed off is an understatement!
  15. Yes, mounts are same as husky

    390xp vs 395xp

I've run both, I was disappointed the 394/395 didn't have noticeably more power than my 385 when they were both stock, I've ported both, both run stronger, but the 385/390 wins it for me, it's much stronger ported. The saving grace of the 394/395 is torque, but even that is no match for the big old Stihls, from the 051 up.
  17. Damn, my 560 must not have heard that! I'll tell it tomorrow!
  18. Yes, 9 tooth only fits the larger drums, add 2 links to the chain. Chain speed is 27m/s. It's the set up on my 560! Although 8t 3/8 is faster (29m/s).

    390xp vs 395xp

A walkerised sticker apparently doesn't mean much apparently, the Americans seem to say that they've just been MM'ed
  20. I have... 12 looking to get 13 how many can I use at once? 2! Topper in each hand
  21. Where are you getting it for less than £500?!
  22. When I was a greenskeeper, I ran an 051 and an 090 on the course, although they never moaned when I ran any saw as they usually had full log stores by the end of the day.
  23. What? Are you crazy?! Keep the 346! It's called a back-up saw! Trust me, it's vital! That's why I have so many and I have back-up back-up saws, just in case
  24. So it was just carb tuning, as expected!? It's annoying when a dealer dismisses a saw on brand or user level design. I assume you resealed the base, as those clams have a new liquid seal each time.
  25. Yes, it should return automatically, knock the pin out and oil it
