  1. Nice bit of timber but that view in the background is amazing
  2. We think this could be wild service tree or an oak? Possibly any help would be nice as it would be nice to identify it.
  3. Without expletives don't kiln green, the big boys get away with it because they don't reckon on getting 100% back, one of our customers who buys from abroad reckons they just throw it all in and on such a huge scale they can afford to lose some to honey combing, they also vacuums kiln it too which I believe but am not sure is better for green. We dry all our boards except the trial simon saw for as long as possible. Inch a year at least.
  4. Yes be interested to see what's for sale
  5. Pm sent for a price in ceder just for your interest.
  6. Have you thought about larch has it's own oils in which protect it from the wether, just supplied a load of larch for a low loader at tinkers park, one of the men who play with the wagons.
  7. Well I'm sure for the right price we could supply you some ha ha 😜
  8. Limited? Lol you should move down south mr big! Plenty down here all local English and sound
  9. Yeah she's all good thanks, 3 weeks old so a bit early to get her on the mill yet lol
  10. Hopefully it's not rot! Nice project for you though
  11. We could supply you with boards but that width would be worried about them cupping and moving. Plus we might be a bit far away.
  12. Old blades for when you could have nails!! Always have some just in case
  13. We use ceder for feather edge, few artic loads every 6 months it does have knots but for feather edge not a problem, also we use nice butts for shingles but again as they can be knotty it's o ly for the odd job
  14. We cut a makuba I think it was yellow timber and were changeling the saw blade every 3m!!! Found out a local musical instrument maker cuts it with metal bandsaw blades! Might be worth talking to instrument makers maybe?
  15. We don't use stihl oil. We're sawing up slabs etc all day and use cooking oil, £20 for 5l massive tub, only draw back is you crave chips all day
  16. Thanks! I'd probably plank it into 38 and 52 mm for furniture later on unless I had someone who was interested in which case I would find what there more likey to want. Either way you've got a lot of options on here to choose from. Plus it all depends on what the timber looks like as you open it up. If it's beautiful then thin boards and if it's not, then bigger stuff maybe more skittles!
  17. No sawmills near you?
  18. Agreed also but if you have no chainsaw mill you can skim a bit turn skim a bit etc till you can take some big chunks out. We use quite a few big trees for orders where we have a lot of beams one size but needs and demand determi w how you mill your timber. And what orders etc
  19. People are amazed at the size of some of the trees we get through but having one pillar means you can squeeze them in there
