  1. thanks steve, i will reinstate a phone for my business but it will be an old nokia 3310 which has a yellow lcd screen for making calls and nothing else.
  2. as this thread is a vote why can't i vote for computer only? i don't own a mobile or tablet.
  3. ash with a little bit of ripple is fairly common so i would not get too excited mate.
  4. i'd love to see a moonbow. mine was an atmospheric phenomenon though but i don't actually know what it is??? i saw a rainbow when i was walking toward the sun? i thought that was impossible. the sun was just above the horizon (about 20 min before it set) and to the left of it about a palms width away (at arms length obviously) was a section of a spectrum. like this. in my case there was a fair bit of wispy cloud rather than clear blue sky and for some reason only the section from 8-10 o clock was showing and not a full circle.
  5. that's what i get too, i take it this will be back to normal at some point? i can change the list to show "content items only" but i have to do that each time i view the site.
  6. looks like a prunus species to me.
  7. lovely timber. any uses planned for it???
  8. actually he was very professional which makes a nice change. he hauls stuff around for the TV industry up and down the country and uses the van as a sideline in his spare time. i'll be using him again if i need him.
  9. managed to get this sorted with a relatively local man with a tail lift van (normally does TV work) and it only cost me £70.
  10. it appears to have been trimmed since my last visit to prepare for the wedding. hope they are good enough.
  11. here are some more pics.
  12. come on you devils.... as a fellow ginger i wish the happy couple all the best.
  13. i have more pictures of this now and will add them later today if i remember. the bark is dark and shiny like a prunus so i'm not sure it's this hippophae species?
  14. i was about to suggest it could be that too...
  15. why am i not surprised that this will have been deduced from US statistics...
  16. in my opinion "use carefully" means it's too weedy in construction. i always go for old machines over modern ones for this exact reason. build quality...
  17. too big to store the timber. i've just no space left.
  18. wish i could...
  19. that pine should make some excellent timber...
  20. 3-4' wide elm would be fantastic for a table although a book matched pair to make a 36"+ table would be stunning too
  21. any chance of a board or two when my beech comes down here?
  22. greenheart is best cut with tct blades usually on a circular mill or saw. hardened bandsaw blades will work but like big j says they are only going to get half a dozen cuts at best. don't forget that these trees are milled when green and have only been down a month or two so if it's put through a band mill will be much gentler on the blades.
  23. it's a bit out of focus but i can still see that it's very similar to eucalyptus species that get used for shipping and crates so i stand by my earlier statement...
  24. i should have added cleaned up and sanded. i need it to look like this so i can actually see the pores.
  25. the bark look very ficus like but i don't know my fig genus so i'll leave the species to others. i'd just call it a fig.
