    Great climber. I could only dream of being that good. I've seen her climb and it's so smooth. I think this is her second international win back to back. I have to say, well done to the UK & I team. Also a big congratulations to team Australia who had 5 climbers in the Masters out of 9. Jess Hamer beat her speed climb record I believe. Good effort by everyone involved. Just a shame my friend Mike Cuerwen didn't get up there. After his belting performance at the Europeans

    The protecter forest I have are very comfy, but heavy in the grand scheme. I've tried the protector timber, and they are light in comparison. The best boots at the moment seam to be the Crispi forst. Very light and robust, unless you work on the rails. Although I don't know of any boot that lasts long on ballast

    Great chain. Well worth it IMHO. Yes the files cost more, but you can get more than one chain out of a file maybe even two if your not heavy handed. They had a dodgy batch with the first set of files as they hadn't been hardened properly. They seem better now. As for sharpening they say do it 90 degrees to the bar I find angle of 10 degrees makes it cut better, but that might just be me

    Hawthorn and blackthorn for me. It burns very hot as said. I've broken a couple of grids burning the stuff.

    I started out 23 years ago. I've worked with quite a few with their aerial rescue and apparently being able to climb. Unfortunately it's not been the case. I've got epilepsy, and this has reminded me of having to be rescued and I believe it took 30 minutes. I'd totally forgotten about it to be honest as when I wake up from a fit, I'm usually confused and very angry not able to function properly. Luckily I wasn't using the saw at the time. I think with regular training and a pre installed access line this sort of stuff would be alot quicker.

    The husky long reach would be the way to go if he wants a telescopic one (although I do have the Stihl equivalent with no complaints) the gear seems to be more robust. If it's just a standard long arm, have a look at the HLA 135. The motor is at the back, has an actual drive shaft rather than a cable, and uses the same cutting head as petrol machines.

    They've gone back to having grease points on the new incarnations. As for local authorities having problems not being able to grease the heads, I haven't seen that it makes any difference. Most of the operatives probably wouldn't know what grease was, even if you smeared them in it.

    There has been a few jobs advertised recently in Ozz, NZ, and Canada on here. I think they've said they will help with a visa etc. Get it done now before you get landed with kids and an overbearing other half. I stayed for a woman after being offered a job down under and I regret it. The only thing I'm left with now is an overbearing ex and my little lass. Which was the best thing to come out of it.

    The Stihl Pro Com fits Petzl helmet which has the Husqvarna fitment. You then need a 3M visor holder and a Stihl visor. Pretty sure they would fit any Husqvarna lid with this set up

    I've fixed a portawrap to the tree with ratchet straps before now, I think they were 10 ton if I recall. Worked quite similar to a bollard just not quite as smooth. Did the job though

    Did they not give you the batch/serial number from the reel it came from? If so, that should be enough for loler purposes paired with date of first use

    If you can wait Notch are bringing out a CE marked Glide. Had a feel of the US version on Saturday. Seems to be very smooth, easy to use and compatible with steel core lines.
