  1. I have had it for years and like my earlier post now rely on prescription stuff and it works I've not lost any time through hayfever in 20+ years! I take 1x 180mg fexofenadine tablet a day and use a 2% nedocromil sodium eye drop called Rapitil, they are both on prescription but work like nothing else! Everyone who I have recommended these to and that has managed to get them from there doctor has had life changed almost overnight! The tablet usually controls the lot but sometimes when the pollen is really high I start to feel the eyes start to sting one drop and its gone!
  2. My local dealer does a half decent mower (cant remember the make sorry!) for £179 with warranty so thats where I will be going when my 35year old Mountfield M4 Major finally dies!! It not showing any signs yet mind, I think they must be the most over engineered mowers ever built, built to properly last!! My mum has had hers from new 36 years ago and still starts it herself she's 74!!

    Mitox

Had a 62cc Mitox chainsaw for 2-3 years and after a few minor teething problems like bits falling off because screws were not being tightened enough it has been faultless and really reliable!! I recommended them to a friend only today!! Does the combi system have the 2year guarantee??
  4. Your definately NOT alone!!!! Finding the next generation of workers seems immpossible it seems!!
  5. I wouldnt bother Ive never seen one split timber like they claim to!
  6. I'll leave negoitiations down to the client, I've told him he may struggle due to the small amount of heartwood but still got to be better turned into something other than logs, he has plenty of branchwood for logs!
  7. Big Walnut felled last week in Cheltenham, Client has asked me to put pictures on here as he is looking to sell it, he feels its a shame to burn it on his fire!! Anyone interested let me know and I'll pass youur details on. Cheers:thumbup:

  13. My brother used to work for Farmington Stone.....went on the Christmas dooo sat next to the bosses wife got too pissed ate his wine glass after the free wine ran out(he had most of it) funnily enough got laid off the next day!!!!!
  14. When I first left school I worked in the Agronomy dept at West Midland Farmers, back then (27yrs ago) the rep for Roundup used to prove how safe for the environment it was by drinking it!! I still see him around now so it's not that toxic to humans although he only has one leg and half an arm!!
  15. Bonfire, Skip or hire yourself a chipper for a day and be prepared to pay a sharpening charge when you take it back!! I'd be surprised if anyone would want to put that anywhere neare there chipper!! Goodluck
  16. I use my old fly fishing rod with a heavy line and a big old lead weight!!! Never managed to catch a fish but knocked out a couple of groundies over the years!!!
  17. Roland Hemming all the way, did a load of courses years back with him and The legend that is Tim Bendle!! Both still do courses for the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester as well as there own stuff!!
  18. I started off using what ever bag I could lay my hands on but now have bought a load of them at 100x85x85.
  19. I've been looking at putting my log prices up for next year as I know I'm too cheap! So I've been researching local prices so as not to price myself out of my marketplace. I've discovered a world of difference in pricing as to be expected however the one surprise is that some people seem to be charging the same for hard and softwood. I offer both hard and softwood loads and a 50/50 mix of the two with a £10 difference between each load. So my question is what price difference do you charge between soft and hardwood loads and/or mixed loads?? My prices have been softwood £40, mixed £50 and hardwood £60 in dumpy bags! I sell more mixed loads than the others and over the last three years have gone from selling approximately 30 bags to now doing 200 this last winter.
  20. I've just started using a subby climber just to ease the stress on my aging limbs, I have been pricing my climbers in at £200 a day so will happily pay £150 a day , got to make some profit!! I always price with time on our side as I don't want to rush and make mistakes as thats when accidents happen! I'm probably in a minority when it comes to employers however I'm as busy as I'd want to be and am in the lucky position where I can (to a degree) pick and choose what jobs I want to take on!!
  21. Not used the top handled one but have a 62cc on that I now run a 16" bar on. It goes well if you keep the air filter clean, the filter is crap so i have 5 so i can change them regularly. Just out of interest what material is the air filter made of on that one?? Be interested to know how it fairs after some proper work!
  22. Hmm I've heard that marketing boards, beams etc is the hardest part time and time again which is probably why so much beautiful timber ends up as logs! is there not a market for an online market place for decent timber??
  23. So just out of curiosity whats it worth? I ask as I get allsorts of interesting flamed burred figured curled etc bits coming through and dont really know what they are worth or were to market them so they end up as logs!! I dont expect Im alone either!!
  24. I've got a 16hp 600ish cc single cylinder Launtop engine on an old entec chipper that works just fine, nice and powerful does the job without issue. I was a bit doubtful so bought the pull start one. The pull start mechanism broke within a day or two as its just not man enough(it takes some pulling) so I replaced that with an old genuine honda pull start and its fine! If I bought another I might splash out on an electric start version though!!
