  1. Common Law right to self defence says different if you were acting lawfully and they assaulted you you can act reasonably to protect yourself from further assault! common law actually gives the right to strike pre-emptively if you have no doubt in your mind that you were about to be assaulted! it doesn't mean you won't get arrested for it but that is your defence.
  2. Ok thats solved this one I'm now officially looking for a crew cab LDV tipper preferably not in white!! But the colour aint that important!!
  3. Yes thats the funniest thing I dont know what I'm doing I'd have to enlist the help of someone that does know what there doing and pay them for there time!! I'm not bad at helping though!! As for finance I don't do finance I'd rather save and own it myself even if it is old!!
  4. My limited budget is due to business growing and needing 2 vehicles, I've funded a 4wd and big double axle trailer from company profits and now sold the T4 crewcab tipper for £1900 and need to go bigger crewcab tipper for similar money. I could wait and struggle on whilst saving a bit more as Christmas has wiped me out, however experience says to buy whilst the money is there as something could go wrong next week and eat my £1900 van budget!!!
  5. Hmmmm it seems there is a difference of opinion here!! Can you retain the body or not that it the question and I guess the answer will be determined by the vehicle and its original back end! Interesting thoughts though so keep them coming. As some of you may be aware from the last thread I started I am looking for a new crewcab tipper for £2000 ish or less. well I have found a truck that it well inside the budget but is a dropside so do I buy and convert or just hold out for a tipper to come along?
  6. As above has anybody converted a dropside pickup to a tipper body? Whats involved and what sort of cost could it be done for??
  7. I've never spent a lot of money on vehicles and never really had a bad one....my T4 cost me £2100 and I had no issues.....I have a mate that spent £9000 on an Iveco Daily only for the rear axle to go 6 months later!!!! Cost him a fortune!! Spending lots can mean it costs alot more when it goes wrong!! I'm seriously thinking LDV as any mechanic worth his money should be able to fix it with just a bag of spanners!!!!
  8. Thats quite a surprise! I hadn't really considered the Movano so what makes them better?? It's the same as the Renault isn't it?? As for Transits I've had a couple of the old bannana engine ones and would consider another but not sure about the newer ones as I heard horrors of them throwing prop shafts for a past time? I've driven the LDV's in the past and never had a problem but the look is a bit dated unless anyone has one that looks the "DOGS" and can prove me wrong!!
  9. Just sold my T4 crewcab tipper as the company has outgrown it! I now have to have 4wd with trailer and a bigger crewcab tipper. I have the 4wd and trailer and now need to source the tipper. Which crewcab Tipper would you spend your money on if your budget was £2200 max and why??
  10. For the definative answer call VOSA and explain exactly what you do/want to do and they'll be happy to answer!!
  11. I should imagine with a size 5 boot you dont weigh in at anywhere near the 20stone that I do, so in theory any decent metal worker could sort your problem, or you could just bluetac some drawing pins to your tennytiny boots!! No offence intended!! Happy Christmas:thumbup:
  12. I should be able to sort you out, I'll have a look in the yard for something suitable on monday and be in touch. I'll PM you my details.
  13. 390xp all day long I run it with 18" or 24" and now have a 36" for special occasions. Brilliant saw not put a foot wrong!
  14. I've been sad enough or bored enough to count the logs into the bulk bags a few times and it averages 170-180 logs or 5 to 6 well stacked wheel barrows:thumbup:
  15. Got a 36"oregan powermatch running 3/8s from Listers in Cirencester for £96....bargain! Used it on friday and it seems to like it, it'll only be on when absoloutely needed!!
  16. Hmmm food fro thought!! Need to up the efficiency in the yard!!
  17. Does it really work well?? I've been considering it but have some doubts!? I sell in dumpy bags but don't store them in the bag so thought about changing to storing in bags to cut down on handling. Do the bags last multiple uses after having holes put in them?, do they hold water in the bottoms?, how many holes are needed and how long does it take to put the holes in?
  18. Had my Willans since 1998 just thinking about replacing it but what for?? its all I've ever known!!
  19. Started off with a Lada Niva, homebuilt caravan chassis trailer, Husky 254 and my now wife doing my groundwork!!
  20. Everybody blames the police but do you actually no how many officers are on duty in your area at any one time?? police response is always prioritised as there are so few officers actually working frontline. If your interested you could write to your local constabulary and ask for the figures under the freedom of information act and then once you've picked yourself up of the floor you could write to your MP and air your views on the situation!! Just as an example the theft that started this thread is in a policing area covering four towns Stroud/stonehouse/dursley and nailsworth it is geographically massive with it taking 20ish minutes to drive from one end to the other (on blue lights) if there are 5 officers on frontline duties on any shift then they are considered flush with staff!! 3 officers is more common, so you do the maths more than 3 jobs at once there are no more police!!
  21. Worth just covering the tops.... bung a few pallets on top and secure a tarp on top of them so its off the logs.....mine are outside with just the tops covered and down around 20-23%!!
  22. This guy hires himself and processor out at £250 a day and is in Cheltenham so may be interested! firewood logs kindling firewood processor | eBay
  23. Nice stove that looks well made and not over complicated like to many others!! I think next year I'll be sticking all my off cuts to one side and selling them at a premium everything else will be at 10-11" which seems to be what most customers are happy with!!
  24. I thought 10" was small but now I've been made aware of a new small......maybe its just because I'm big:thumbup:
  25. I've just had a request for 8" max logs! are stoves getting smaller or does my customer not know what 8" looks like:thumbup:!? I cut most of my logs to 10/11" so have told her I'll have to charge extra to cover extra time etc. Am I being reasonable in charging more??
