  1. Thats pretty misleading at least for here in the UK. Coal generates just 3.4% of our energy according to government figures for 2020 https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1032260/UK_Energy_in_Brief_2021.pdf
  2. As Tom has brought this thread back to life happy to report the MS460 is still going strong
  3. Many moons ago we had a chap come out and dismantle and remove an old mobile home and gave us £200 for doing so. No idea if it payed but we were delighted
  4. Just sounds like a bad batch of fuel. It does happen. Local Morrisons had some a couple of years back and loads of folk had trouble. Cant say I have noticed any change in fuel over the years. Regular, E5, E10 not had any 2 or 4 strokes miss a beat on any of it. I always buy from Texaco and it gets used quickly which I sure helps. Also quality oil for the 2 strokes
  5. Went to a physio recently who has known me for years. He said you wouldn't leave your machinery unmaintained for years so why would I not maintain the most important 'machine' ie me. I am only in my 50s but would like to keep at it to 70s so taking care of the body needs to be treated as part of the job. Sorry no help with your barrow problems but why are you having to push barrows of logs about? Make the machinery take the strain where you can is my approach
  6. We hear a lot about sanctions being placed on Russia but we still give them ample funding. Just cane across this and numbers are staggering CREA CREA.SHINYAPPS.IO
  7. Thanks It would be interesting to see how different or not as the case maybe from how mine runs. Ground loop temps or is it bore holes? UFH temp (the actual water in the pipes) This gives you the temperature lift which indicates how efficiently a GSHP will be running at.
  8. Out of interest do you know what temp the ground loop is running at?
  9. Check for chips around the battery connections. I have had it go dead on me a few times and always solved by taking the battery out, shaking it upside down and popping the battery back in
  10. Sunny, 10C but with winds gusting 45mph which has rather taken the edge of what would be lovely day
  11. I googled it as I couldn't believe it could be that expensive for one piece of glass. The whole stove is £1300 so near a 1/3 the cost just for the glass. I would be livid
  12. Think they are curved on that model
  13. Very helpful and interesting that a battery machine pics up so well. I wonder if the Stihl one is any good. I already have the batteries for that. Anyone know what they are like?
  14. Pacing it out I would guess around 350m2 We have an old Stiga Muticlip Pro which has proved to be fantastic. There are still lots of rough areas that we still use it on.
  15. Been using a mulcher on our lawn for years but the endless feeding the lawn its cuttings makes it grow so fast. The better half wants a collecting mower but snag is up here on Dartmoor the lawn is rarely bone dry. Heard Etesia are good and got excited to see a second hand one pop on an add then saw it was £1200! Are there any brands that can handle picking up damp grass at a lower budget? Its only for our own lawn so dont want to get carried away. Thanks
  16. More pleased with the retort to be honest Mark but dont think its going to make my fortune 😂
  17. Not mine. I got the idea the from someone else on Navitron. The chap who had the water wheel on Exmoor (cant remember his name) mentioned cutting up the tanks to make a cover. Think he did it in a less ergonomic way but gave me the spark. I push a couple of 1.2m 1x1 sticks under the top of the crate but over the logs and screw it in place. Anything less gets dismantled by the gales here
  18. "Cummings is an untrustworthy little worm " But then so was his boss who hasn't to date lost his job yet his position is far more important.
  19. It's an immediate thing. The second you turn a corner the wheels should rotate at different speeds. Once in 4x the front and rear axles have to turn the same amounts and you get torque wind up. No problem on slippy surfaces as the wheels can easily under rotate to compensate but on a dry road you put a lot of load through the transmission before the wheels slips. Surprised you did not feel it when cornering as it's very pronounced on my old Hilux.
  20. We only run a small farm but its embarrassingly easy and fast in our experience. Can see why the pros hate as it will do them out of a job 😬 Not keen on the cost of the strainers and have built box struts instead
  21. Paul on Raasay used to share lots on Navitron about the Power Spout. Should be some stuff about it on his blog power+spout | Search Results | Life at the end of the road LIFEATTHEENDOFTHEROAD.WORDPRESS.COM the trials and tribulations of an accidental crofter
  22. We have one like in the link below. Brilliant with Clippex (what we got it for) but with a wooden post on firm ground its easier to use a manual post hole rammer. Might work Ok with smallish hard posts like oak. The softwood ones just seem to absorb the 'bang' Easy Post Petrol Hand Held Post Driver - Fencing Tools MCVEIGHPARKER.COM Designed to knock any size stake, peg or post into the ground, up to a 4
  23. Sounds like PEG which was briefly popular many moons ago but fell out of favour but not sure why. Never used either though Might help Stabilising green wood (peg) | UKworkshop.co.uk WWW.UKWORKSHOP.CO.UK I was on pinterest the other day and saw a topic about stabilising log slices with 'peg'- polyethylene glycol. I was...
  24. That would tie in with this
  25. Every small local log seller I know is not bothering. I wasn't so anti at the idea but the reality is a farce. Pretty sure someone on here got asked to just send in a log for sampling. How ridiculous is that? Hmmm I might just pop it in the oven for a few hours just to be on the safe side 😂
