  1. These are about as good as it gets, and you can wear them inside the helmet mounted ear defenders if you want: Squidgy God knows why anyone paid £500! Or if you want to listen to your iPod while keeping out unwanted noises, try these bad boys: Motorbike Adventures Supply and Fit Motorcycle HID Lights Motorbike HID's Metal Mule Panniers, Autocom
  2. Anyone got a copy they'd be prepared to sell?
  3. These things are tested to destruction in every conceivable scenario (as you would damn well expect!). Which suggests that either it was overloaded (unlikely), poorly maintained or had been modified in an unauthorised manner. I'm sure there are a few twitching backsides at ES. Tragic, and probably no need for it to have happened.
  4. Is this place still going? Recycling waste wood into green fuel Welcome to site
  5. You can do the QCF level 4 at Barcham Trees in Ely as well, which could be geographically useful for you. QCF Level 4
  6. HCR

    Show time.

I'll be there - rude not to really as it's only just down the road. First show since the APF in Cannock in....2008?
  7. One thing to bear in mind - is it permanent unimproved grassland? You might want to consider carefully before adding lime and manure if it is. Otherwise, lime by itself may well work. Adding P will go a long way to wiping out any fungal activity, which you don't really want. It may be depleted in terms of silage production, but it's possibly fine as far as trees go. Phosphates are highly immobile in the soil. Similarly with N, although that can deplete relatively quickly.
  8. Does the grassland look acidic? (fine leaved grasses, occasional heathy plants)? Slightly off topic, sorry.
  9. It's also a marker of how many people look at a thread and can't be bothered to reply
  10. Probably my worst fencing job wasn't actually the fencing itself, but cresoting it. I was 15 at the time, and it was a a complete stud-farm's worth of untreated post and rail. It took me all summer, suffering in the heat in a jacket or with creosote burns on my arms. It took me about 5 weeks altogether, and boy was I glad when it was finished. However, 25 years on the fence is still in good health Slight derail - I turned up on site once to check on a post & rail fence going in - a certain well known band of conservation volunteers was doing the job. The site had a gentle slope running uphill from where they had started the fence. They were being ultra-diligent and using a spirit level when fixing the rails. Four posts in they realised the problem
  11. How many samples did you test? That's a very acidic soil ubless you had a rogue sample. Mind you, at that pH there will be all sorts of uptake problems. Usually the pH goes up a little near roads due to the limestone base, as well.
  12. Wow, a kettlebell thread! This place has everything. I'm still recovering from a 90 minute session with them on Sunday, being beasted by my trainer. He loves them, which means I do too, apparently
  13. I must be getting old
  14. I'm not entirely sure I agree with that. I've been riding motorbikes since 1978 and worked with quads from 1997-2004. I've never come off a quad but bike spills (off road) are pretty much a certainty.
  15. Try this? Dorset Coppice Group - Dorset Coppice Group Members - Charcoal and Firewood
  16. I've got this one (in olive green) and it's been on numerous exercises with, either with mission critical kit in and top-flapped in my bergen or as a daysack whilst patrolling. It also carries my lunch on a day-to-day basis Can't fault it really. DISCIPLE TACTICAL WOODLAND DPM M1M PATROL PACK 35 LTR | eBay
  17. Email these people: Welcome to Landmarc
  18. Just got mine finished yesterday. There are still one or two things I would like to tweak, but not just yet. portcullistrees - Home
  19. The RFS cert arb is level 2, so at the entry level end of things. Depending on your abilities/timescales/aspirations you might want to consider an FdSc or similar. Have a gander at this page: Capel Manor College : Online Services and this one: Arboriculture (HE)
  20. How's this?
  21. Ideally find yourself a course that combines the academic side with the practical side. It depends what job you want to get, but if you want to do anything with a saw/chipper/climbing then the relevant paperwork is a MUST. Everything else is just a bonus. Maybe do the RFS Cert Arb and pick up the CS units at a local training centre? Where are you based?
  22. That looks like roughly a 1-2% rise if everything suddenly melted. I'd imagine that would be enough to wet my feet. What's the average depth of the sea? Say it was 3000 metres (I don't know the correct answer but that figure rings a bell). 1-2% of that = 30-60 metres rise. Sploosh!
