  2. many yrs ago -we thought we were ok one day on felling a beech (a council owned tree approved for removal) - was absolutely gutted when we discovered there was a barn owl nest with eggs in a hollow in the tree

  12. ok tell your ignorant clients - you will remove any deadwood over 1" diameter and formative prune them - don't forget to add on an extra 20% for being pedantic

  23. yes Mick - there are plenty of days when you find nothing of note, but it makes it more worthwhile when you do. Rome - you lucky boy:thumbup1:
  24. 1st coin is a silver denarius of the emperor Tiberius - this coin is known as the tribute penny as it was the the same coin Judas was given to betray Jesus ( 30 pieces of silver) I found it in Lincolnshire 2nd coin is a silver sixpence of James I of England - early 17th Century - I found it in Norfolk 3rd coin is a Henry VI silver groat (4pence) this 15th century coin was minted in Calais when the English still held this part of France. I found it in Norfolk first artefact is a lunar type roman brooch from the 1st to 2nd century AD I found this in Gloucestershire. 2nd artefact is an anglo saxon brooch circa 500 AD - I found this in Notts. The anglo Saxons had been converted to Christianity by this time and stylised cruciform brooches like this are typical of the time.
