  1. yes Mick - there are plenty of days when you find nothing of note, but it makes it more worthwhile when you do. Rome - you lucky boy:thumbup1:
  2. 1st coin is a silver denarius of the emperor Tiberius - this coin is known as the tribute penny as it was the the same coin Judas was given to betray Jesus ( 30 pieces of silver) I found it in Lincolnshire 2nd coin is a silver sixpence of James I of England - early 17th Century - I found it in Norfolk 3rd coin is a Henry VI silver groat (4pence) this 15th century coin was minted in Calais when the English still held this part of France. I found it in Norfolk first artefact is a lunar type roman brooch from the 1st to 2nd century AD I found this in Gloucestershire. 2nd artefact is an anglo saxon brooch circa 500 AD - I found this in Notts. The anglo Saxons had been converted to Christianity by this time and stylised cruciform brooches like this are typical of the time.

  6. some helmets have a replace by date stamped on them if I remember correctly - it should be ok for 3 yrs I think - but as Stubby says is it fake

  10. that could be the problem. have you seen any burn patches in the lawn which implies its been overdone. if this is the problem water water water - really drench the rooting area
  11. they are young enough to be killed by honey fungus - any old stumps close by - was the garden on old orchard - any other smaller trees or shrubs died close by have a look at the roots any bootlaces - any signs of white mycelium have the trees been planted pot bound and have girdling roots has anything been spilt around the trees that may have poisoned them have soil levels always been the same has a water course close by been diverted or added some things to consider
  12. if we can see a section of cut stem - v wilt shows as a circular dark band
