  1. You're not legally obliged to forewarn the owner when abating the nuisance, that enshrined (do you like that Mick?) in tort law ( Lemon and Webb) I always try to talk to the owner, particularly when wanting to lean a ladder against the tree, to explain that while they can't stop the pruning everyone wants to be as reasonable as possible.
  2. Funny how people think it's okay to encroach onto next doors property, and the argue the toss and try to prevent the trespass being abated.
  3. Back to boundary as long as there's no statutory protection in place. Don't forget to ask the owner if he wants his branches back! Tell him him to search Lemon V Webb
  4. Don't it just. Seven days in total including an infection, you've a charmed life mate.
  5. How long have you been laid up? The road back to fitness is exceedingly difficult, I wish you luck with that!
  6. i bet they just love you Going back to the Cavat valuation. I don' know whether you subscribe o UKTC or not, but a recent topic was the validity of of the various methods currently in use. Jules (@Dalton Trees) has recent at some length on this and raised some very interesting points. With a bit of luck he will contribute those to this thread.
  7. The developer has been 'asked' not to fell anymore trees (than all the ones that they shouldn't have already)! That's all right then. if they have already breached the conditions relating to trees that I'd presume were part of planning consent, why haven't the LA just stopped all work on the site already?
  8. Ditto. With low body weight, good triceps, lats etc and being able to lots of pull-ups and chin ups I never could do one armed.
  9. Don't worry, I've already got a back up plan. I'm going to get Mick to post it, if necessary.
  10. More importantly, will we be allowed French bread after Brexit?
  11. just a point to ponder! Is is the loss of a mature tree generally more environmentally bad than using a chainsaw to do it? Just wondering like...
  12. As eggs said, photos to illustrate the soil horizons would be really good. Is/has the trench filled up just from precipitation falling directly into it or is draining through the topsoil elsewhere, pooling on top of the clay and then moving sideways into the trench? its really hard to get a clear idea of what's going on.
  13. Somewhere online is a lengthy report about the IOW updating all of their TPOs after the loss of their Elms to DED. The details of the time time and financial commitments is quite surprising.
  14. Surprised you didn't pick up the 'pretzel zigzag' that keeps popping up in another thread. i suppose that name might have been apt for the mark 1?
  15. Nordmans keep their needles and have always been a premium tree, but Norway spruce should be a lot cheaper.
  16. Never suggested that it was a Japanese practitioner. Only that it might be 'in the style of'
  17. With a name like Munter, I've never even been able to consider that a proper knot!
  18. Japanese cloud pruning, forget the proper name.
