  1. ' Much loved' I've owned it for years and years, but now it's uneconomical to mend again. - so I'm getting what I can from it towards a new one.
  2. If that's true, you're better informed than me. But your argument fails a bit flat if you look back at the Bartletts poplar fell across the road. AAC to boot
  3. Aren't this crew employed by an LA? So I'd assume that all the staff were suitably qualified etc?
  4. You could argue that the criminal justice system is the biggest problem that allows these issues to continue.
  5. I'm only an Honary Northerner, although some may dispute that title. I was born in London Btw. How much have had to drink. Tomorrow's xmas eve, or is Cornwall on the other side of the International date line now?
  6. To be honest, even a competent experienced climber who watches some of the videos rigging with x-rings and the such like and then thinks he'll go out and rig out the same sort of sizes the next day is a bit of a tool anyway. you can't teach stupid and they'll cock up one way or another without watching YouTube.
  7. Hi Toad, I wasn't planning on making an access anyway, just interested in what was involved. But it thank you for the offer.
  8. Did you read my post about killing the wife? That was second phase of the first plan!
  9. Last time you got together at GM he turned into a lightweight didn't he?
  10. Surfing with Kevin in Cornwall? Or overthrowing the ParishCouncil?
  11. And why not! Put the barby on and stock up the beer fridge.
  12. It's all right, I killed the first one!
  13. I just can't help myself with some little old lady though! (Maybe I should clarify that before Mark jumps in)
  14. Tell em as much as you want but they don't take no heed. I should know, I've married two of them!
  15. Your not far away, so when I'm back on me feet I'd like to nip over and put a face to the name (although going by your posts I might get led astray and live to regret it)
  16. Nothing generous, you take us as you find us. Lots of people have helped me out in my life which I appreciated so it's all just give and take.
  17. Best to you too Eggs and don't forget if your travels lead you up here, the doors always open, kettles on, there's food in the fridge and there's a bed somewhere.
  18. Was this an existing road access or a new one? Just wondering about the hoops you'd have jump through with the HA to get a new one
  19. Don't we all Eggs, we go through life and make plans, then it falls apart. All you can do is pick yourself up, carry on, treat people the way you'd like to be treated and do the best you can.
  20. That's been my thoughts for years. The AA has been the industry body for many years but still has a very low profile to the public. Most people know the name of the FC but Arb Assoc just draws a blank look of incomprehension
  21. You know you're hooked on shrooms when you come out with comments like "quite like the look of" and get exited by something you haven't seen before
  22. You can always go grasscutting with your mate Vesp! ?
  23. We've all probably finished a bodgers job on the cheap to help out at some time or other cos we're decent people, but doesn't this just go towards supporting the cycle of allowing the rip off merchants to continue? the owner doesn't learn their lesson because they've got the job done (in their own minds) cheap/cheaper and probably will still be a victim to the next "we're working locally and I've noticed your roof needs doing etc" Really we should price the work at whatever it is, as well as putting pressure on the powers to be to educate the public on the homeowners responsibilities and liabilities when employing contractors ( as well as the prosecuting authorities to prosecute when things go tits up). More education, publicit, whatever about tree management would also be bonus, so the owner actually had a basic understanding themselves when action was necessary and what was apropriate.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
