  1. We need electric ships to bring woodchip from the otherside of the world to run the power stations.
  2. I have a sense of irony, in that customers have asked for years "Do you need to plug your tools in?" Finally we can say yes. "Just need to charge the chainsaws and the chipper"
  3. Unlikely unless you're felling in one of the major cities. I guess you'll be alright up in County Durham.
  4. I'd suggest looking at getting some qualifications under your belt. Whether it's for teaching, management or surveying/consultancy, build on what you already know.
  5. I'm not saying don't carry on as normal, you can't live your life avoiding all risk but maybe just be a bit more aware of what's going on around you.
  6. Are you limiting that risk to people working in arboriculture and forestry generally, or including the public at large? annually deaths involving trees (I think to the public at large) average, over a ten year record keeping period, slightly less than six. How many people have died this year in the UK in terrorist attacks? I don' actually know.
  7. We had some in the unit where I used to work. The boss did a load of research, bought some brilliant traps that were the dogs doodahs and recommended by everyone. More research ensued for the best bait etc.. I think four traps were set one evening. The following morning all four had been tripped. The bait had gone but every trap was empty. We never did work out how they were doing it, everything operated like it should on the traps but the little buggers just ate the bait and left.
  8. That don't sound like much fun. What's been happening in the last few months?
  9. Another terrorist incident in France. Uk threat level remains at Severe - an attack remains highly likely. Take care folks! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-46530265
  10. I was 22. I had forgotten the numbers involved.
  11. How do you diagnose dementia in a cat? We have a 'lot' of cats (I'm too embarrassed to admit just how many!) but despite putting out food all the time for the foxes and the stray cats that visit to be fed, we never see any real indication of rats or mice. Our cats bring an occasional mouse home, for the missus, but it's really rare. Could the presence of cats just discourage rodents?
  12. Cos everything on the internet is always correct and accurate! Websites like that just cause problems for everyone else, but do help to weed out some of the more 'problematic' customers.
  13. The well known Arb Exemption?
  14. You live too far away, you wouldn't hear me!
  15. When someone's incorrectly trying to take my money I learn!
  16. Professional services aren't eligible for CIS deductions. So if you do the tree survey you don't get it withheld but when you're felling the trees you do!
  17. It's not new. If it hasn't been deducted by the main contractor it should have been. I think the tax man can go after them because they're meant to pay over CIS payments.
  18. What Mark said. I don't know about individuals but companies get a 'balance sheet' a few times a year detailing how much has been held back on all of the jobs you've done. its a method to insure the tax man gets his cut at source
  19. Now you're just being pedantic..
  20. You can tell that's not running on Aspen!
  21. Being in bed with his mistress when her husband came home early?
  22. Oh no it isn't I don't know any forty yr olds who think they'd be better off being 55, myself included.
