  1. Ultrasound cleaner does the trick, if not cleaner left on and a tooth brush, or strip the carb removing all parts and use non caustic cleaner. plus an air line turned down a bit to blast it out.
  2. Or the spur wearing away as the drive links are working backward
  3. Will have to look it up ted. The tv is different over here and we normally don't get programmes fro a few months after. The documentarys about it are really good. And shows the courage and bravery of not just the fire departments it also of the every day people that where there. Saw one that was called "the mirical stairway B" and shows how people survived the fall and was alive at the end due to being in a stairway that didn't collapse but stayed in shape. And it was due to a couple of people making decisions at the time to take that stairway and one women who pushed the group to move faster than they where.
  4. There are two differences I can see. One is a piece of what looks like black rubber gasket between the eyes. This I presume acts like it stops the carab slipping. The other is on the right hand part below the pulley they have got rid of a little nick and straightened it up. Sorry no way of pointing with an arrow. Why this has been done I can't guess. Maybe a strength issue they have looked at.
  5. It wasn't damaged. It was cut up....
  6. And many machines that would otherwise be in a crap skip. Very well done Steve. And very well deserved aswell. I can imagine the stress of running a site this big. Hat off to you sir,
  7. Who I feel that's for sure.
  8. Not really that new and has been in for a while. Although it does look good it does have its uses and some uses it doesn't. It wouldn't be the first thing a trained medic would actually reach for. The Israeli dressing is what they would go for straight away. It may have some use but if you are in that much trouble with a chainsaw chances are you have gone through your leg and would bleed out before help got anywhere near you. Plus the size will restrict its use a lot.
  9. I was in college in a lecture when one of the students just said out loud that the White House had been hit by a bomb, he had got it in a text. Luckily that wasn't the case for the White House but remember going back to the dorm and turning on the telly. Saw much of it as it happened. Took a while to sink in what I was seeing. Was watching the programmes on it all over the weekend. Think it was all on channel four. A few programmes covering all the events. Both before during and after. Was very touched by the firemens story one. They went through a lot and then the aftermath and the press outcome about them was just pathetic IMO. Was a big game changer towards terrorism.
  10. I've had that once before now. I have in the past used a cheap pot and a meteor piston, I have had no bad results from this. It is generally the piston side of the cheap Chinese stuff that is crap. The cylinders are not that bad. I have had one where the ports where not beveled properly so IMO would snag a ring but they where soon smoothed off. There was a question a while ago about what cylinder to use if using a meteor piston. But I don't think it ever got answered. As just by looking at just a cylinder you can't tell if they are the cheap ones or not. They all look the same, unless its genuine from a dealer.

Anyone watching blackout, been good so far. Can't see why on earth people would loot for electrical goods tho.
  16.:001_huh: I'm really not looking forward to this. So far I have been very lucky and hopefully any advice I have given people on what to use has sunk in and they have taken it on board. But I have found builders are the worst. Trying to tell them that it doesn't take long to clean an air filter out on a cut off saw or give it a brush off with a hand brush now and again doesn't hurt...... Think they are thinking more about the pint in the pub..
  17. Think summer has finally done a runner today. Wind is up, rain is hard, and sea state is moderate to rough at times.
  18. It's the drum. As gardenkit said. Get a new drum and bearing. Granted the older ms260 used for run for years on one bearing, but its not a 260. Drums where an issue but I do believe have now been resolved. A new drum and bearing and some grease should see you right until the next service.

Just going through some old pics. This one came up. It was my very first shout on the lifeboat on Xmas eve 2012, was a sudden one that I was at the checkout at the local morrisons, had to leave the missis and my boy at the till and run. The security guard stood in my way when I was running but thought better of it and moved. Was a trial by fire. If anyone can guess why we are wearing surgical gloves they can figure out what the shout was. Was not a very nice one and was a very harsh welcome to the lifeboat.
  20. Just prompted me to change mine aswell. Its from the memorial from the penlee lifeboat.

God knows. It did make use laugh that's for sure. Reports from coastguard where of an upturned vessel or rib, it was black and shiny out the water, so thoughts where of an inflatable rib. Got there and it was the penguin. I was in stictches about it. But from a ships point of view they report what they see, coastguard then decide if we get sent or to. And if a ship says the can see an upturned black shiny thing in the water it could be anything. Just thankfull it was an inflatable toy and not a rib that could of had people on board.
  22. Very good. I know of a few and they have been fantastic.

Dover lifeboat currently out on a call of a capsized vessel in the shipping lanes. ShipAIS - Current AIS map Search for Dover in the port option top left. Unknown vessel at this time, just capsized, going by radio chatter sounds like a collision.
