done a carb fix on a 200t today. accelerator pump. got a 039 running sweet again. and been on the phone to a silky saw rep.
-
now that was my thought, but. the pocket boy is small, would it be too small. to put into contrast of a situiation it will be needed. last time a tow line was needed to be cut it was in 20ft seas, the vessel under tow was taking on water, she was 35ft long. she started going down and by the time the crew had removed the axe and start to attempt a cut she was just showing in the water. this took no longer than 10mins. and it took another 4mins to cut the the lines as the axe missed the rope and hit metal deck. so blunt axe on 2inch line. a knife is kept in a tool locker but these are always blunt and useless. just the way it is, and they are straight edge. so getting thrown 20ft up and down while trying to swing an axe at a line that is moving back and forth accross the deck.
-
but how would a knife measure up. a serrated edge is always better than a straight edge. trying to work a straight knife edge on wet highly tensioned 2inch thick rope is slow, especially if the ship under tow is sinking fast. tried the zubat today on some and it just went straight through on one pull.

ok. today i had a very interesting phone call. silky have seen a picture i put up of me in my rnli kit with a zubat. today the station phone rang and they wanted to ask me if i have used it yet. so doing some trials on using some silky saws on different ropes. at the moment we use an axe on any fouled lines, this is ok but the lines are normally off the deck by a foot, and axes just bounce, not to mention in rough seas trying to swing an axe about while trying not to fall overboard. and the use of one on a rib. no axes on these. a silky is imo opinion good as it can give control to cutting a line. so question. what silky would be best, the zubat has large teeth and these can get blocked up easily, what would be better?

ONLY A MAN WOULD ATTEMPT THIS Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!! Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this: Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer. The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...?? WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home... I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another. The directions said that: a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, 'Don't do it stupid,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE... !!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a Tazer, one note of caution: There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. · The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. · My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching.. · My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. · I had no control over the drooling. · Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone. · I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! PS: My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

not recent but firing a belt fed gpmg. never do that again. -
always. and a good groundie will ensure it. if the rigging fails you will have a big mess to clear up, if he jogs back from the chipper quick enough:001_rolleyes: p.s i was bullied at school and i have no time for anyone who will try and belittle the new guy, i stopped getting bullied when i got to 6ft2 and brick poo house size. and you would get one hell of an earfull for doing it if i was on site, no job is worth that.
-
still sounds like you want the "boy" to run his ass off while other stand around. sorry but damage done, no wounder young lads dont want to work for you, i wouldnt if i was starting out. you may do all that in the morn and eve, thats your choice. if a job gets done with no injuries and no damage does it matter if anyone jogs about? i wouldnt give anyone who does it any respect, i would more than likely take the mick thinking they are a brown nose or want to get up your backside for some reason. plus extra brash on the deck just means a soft landing for timber.
-
go on then. get a pic up, want to hear about the owner needing new pants.:lol:
-
i like that rustcutter. i have had this before. had to show them the ce stamp on the can before i could fill up. after that they had no problems. thats all they need to see, the colour means nothing. as some cans are black.
-
well i know who has those 372s....... i know i will hear all about them when they return dont know about gardenkit but ive got mowers starting there entrance, just waiting for there delivery, oh and the new workshop. barrie the one on the phone fell through, (long story) but been offered another, and its a lot better imo. will get some pics tommorow.

thank you. it is a moving song when you know the story. a great feet of strength, and the people who turned out to clear 7 miles of snow. wounder if it would happen today? another one that is very much in a lot of people hearts is the penlee, union star struck rocks and lifeboat launched, it was also this rescue that saw the start of the procedure for a coxwains decision as to to take a man and his son or family out on a shout. it is very much seen as a no no but this will all depend on the weather and job. it is a good watch. no pun there bud.

yep every day. nothing like fixing a machine that someone else has given up on. and the mundane stuff too, like a big pile of blades to sharpen. the ground work aint too bad either.
-
when they stopped producing the coal dust engines.:lol:

surely your having a laugh...... work hard yes. work safe yes. i hope i work hard on the ground when needed, im sure i would have been told by now if i didnt. maybe not employing 50 yr olds to drag brash is your answer. as for running, yeah jog on mate. if any employer told me to run on site unless there was a fire they would get something big thrown at them, or there rope would be tied up at the base of the tree and i would be waving at them as i walked away. so all that said if you now put up in the employment forum that you are in need of a groundie do you think you will get any replies?????? sounds like bad business planning and not to mention the liability you would have if anyone fell and broke there face. you actually sound lazy as you want all the brash cleared up before you come down so you dont have to do any work?????

nice pics. but a few facts you can go back with rover. the severn class is 45t, ours has just had a liftout not so long ago, did post a few pics a couple of pages back. the props are not done yearly, unless they get broken, ours has just had a refit after 15yrs service and they didnt get changed. the engines did, and there service life has now been extended by 25yrs. the severn is the biggest and until recently it was the fastest all weather lifeboat, now of course the shannon has taken that tilte. the severn is able to do 25knts, ours can do 27knts. the new mtu merc engines produce 1600hp each and thats restricted.

too easy barry. tang adjustment tools. yeah i went anyway, would onlt get bored at home. lol. most of the crew have colds anyway.
-
Yeah that's the ones. Something like that. I'm blaming the man flu, couldn't smell the carb cleaner today as my nose was too blocked up. A few more brain cells dying away. Ms261, drum is very loose on the crank. New bearing but old drum. Guessing it's the drum but thought I would ask. So blaming the beachams all in one for messing with my head. Oh well off to lifeboat training now, should be fun....
-
Come on. Eddy brought the tool so now has to justify having it.:lol: If in doubt get a bigger hammer.
-
Well that is what I was hoping. An ms261 drum that has very excessive free play on the crank. Can get a piece of paper between the drum and bearing. Tried a spur drum on it and it's nice and tight. Same bearing. Ordering a new drum anyway. P.s the 261 has to be the worst design ever for taking the carb off..

What he said. Just a question on the telehandler. Does it actually have the right amount of pipes and or flow direction on the pipes. As some don't actually have a pumped return. I would look into the handler first.
