  6. well today was suppose to be a me and the missis day. yeah right. phone started at ten today. first a yamaha quad, not turning over on key, duff battery. then was an exhaust from a diesel loco that i welded up last week, wouldnt fit back on, a bit of grunt and on it went. then a chainsaw, wouldnt start, old fuel. then two hedgeccutters to sharpen. and a quote to send two sets of chipper blades off.

not really. side ways is ok if a littler. up and down is a no no. should have said go on simplybearings.co.uk. in my experience the stihl ones are pants, and i have had them break on me.
  11. woops. sounds like you put the rope in the port and not in the plug hole. sounds like the rope is now stuck between the piston and wall. only option is to remove the cylinder, the danger you now have is the rope pushing the piston over and trapping the rings against the ports or transfers, not a good thing to happen, and with the price of a replacement pot and piston my advice would be to take the pot off. if its not in there it maybe in the crankcase. sounds like a lesson learnt to me.
  12. carefull there pat, i heard that get stung with one of those and you are buggered for at least 18 years before you recover, has been known to be een longer aswell...
  13. does it happen if the brake is not applied?
  14. thanks matty. so next question, whats going to be better, i was thinking of on its side and take off the extra bits so its one straight lump then use that. or have it upright and cut it that way?
  15. the pic already is, its one of d a tree surgeons jobs that i was groundie for and the lump is in the yard.
  16. ok. so i want to carve a memorial bench for a very good friend of the missis who passed away a year ago. he was her best friend and we want to do something, so a bench sounds like a good idea. now the problem part, as i cant afford a decent piece of timber i do have a huge lime lump i could do something with maybe. so first is can i use it? is it worth trying with lime? what ways of preserving can i use? but first off can i do anything with this? anyone local that is willing to give some pointers would be even better tho.
  17. yep, very good place with good facilities and the trainers and testers know there stuff. done 30/31 there, enjoyed it and had a good laugh. there are other places but i have only used kingswood.
  18. was my exact first thought when it came into view. thats said its still heavy and its still impressive to see it take the abuse. now they need 4 stoves and get both sides up. but that still wouldnt be 50t on one stove tho.
