  1. Thinning with white spirit. Not. Use a proper thinner, have this with some paint, it produces lumps. Doesn't thin all the paint.
  2. Isn't this what some people on here have been saying should happen to benefit system? Get the long term unemployed out doing jobs so they earn there benifits???? Jus sayin is all.
  3. Not sure when I looked at the system a pulley had disintegrated but it was all smashed up but the timber when it fell. The rope was fine and hinge point at the top was good. Think a pulley came apart and the rope just went down without any redirect system, my gloves were smoking. Hurt like hell. I did have a pic of the failed system, will try and find it. We were using a basic simple system, nothing too complicated, now everything gets checked and double checked, would have been a lot worse but it wasn't.
  4. So what this work thing all about? I've never heard of mandatory thing before? But them I'm down south and we might not have this. I don't know, someone shed some light on this. Sorry if I sound stupid. Is it like community service for the unemployed?
  5. I'm normally at home falling asleep on the sofa with the iPad on my lap with arbtalk on the screen. Then I get rudely woken by my son jumping on me telling me it's his bedtime, then somewhere I forget what I've done because the alarm clock is buzzing in my ear. Spare time is for when you are dead. Plenty of time then. And what's this holiday thing everyone keeps going on about? I had a week this year and it was the first holiday since 2002. And that was a week in Cyprus.
  6. Had an anchor point fail on me before, the lump floated to the floor with no problem whatsoever....... My gloves actually burnt out and had a massive blister between my thumb and finger for days, and they were my favourite rigger gloves aswell.
  7. Wow love the colours in the metal from the forging. Takes a lot of skill to make a good knife that is strong, tried making one at school, didn't last a test in the vice and broke along a weak fracture point. Didn't harden and temper it properly. Wasn't made from a chain. Just some scrap steel from projects. You don't need a forge really just a good oxygen cetelene torch. And some fire bricks form an old burner.
  8. Complete tool. First mistake driving on chipboard. Second mistake, that digger was trying to work beyond its depth. Did he put the blade down!? Can't see in vid.
  9. I was taught the questions that sound stupid are never asked but are always the ones everyone wants to know...
  10. Could this be the beginning of an arborist blood drive????? Would love to see companies encouraging there employees to give blood.
  11. You get 30 seconds at best, if you only nick it. Cut it completely and you out. There is no coming back from that, and if you manage to survive longer than 30 seconds you are damn lucky and need to change career so you don't do it again.
  12. Yeah that's what I got told and that's why I give. I wouldn't want to hurt myself and not get the blood I need to survive. It's not a hard thing to do, and someone once told me they didn't give as they can't stand needles, this is a poor excuse IMO.
  13. Congrats on the baby, and all the best to your wife from me and my other half, when my son was born we almost lost him at a month old, not the same but I'm ever gratefull for the quick response from the hospital staff and the paramedics. Without them I wouldn't have him. I give blood ever time. I'm A resess negative, or however it's written, all I know is it's rare and I would like to think there is some rare blood ready if I ever have an accident. And let's face it we are all in danger of loosing blood as we all use chainsaws, if it be for carving, or working, with or without a ticket, cut your arm off and the first thing you will need is the red stuff. Richard P.s I'm afraid there will never be a day you will not think about it. I think about my boy the moment he wakes up, I think about what happend to him and was there anything I could have done to help him, bit different to yours as I had to give CPR, but I still think about it and how I handled it, it's natural I'm told, just have to think about it and then end the thought with the fact that they are hear with you, soon makes the thought pointless but the mind can't help but think about it.
  14. Don't even go there on brakes. Mine was a real pig. First it wouldnt hold the pressure. Then it held pressure but binding, so adjusted them as per manual, no pressure. So re adjusted, binding. Took several days work to get them to a stage that they would work, but they would bind on when got hot and make a rattling noise at speed. Took me ages to get them right. Worst brake system ever IMO
  15. Hmmm calving ropes, I can't see why that would be an issue
  16. Seen those tractors up close, it was a campaign by police to highlight rural crime. Let's see if I Can do this. [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BZeAFySzKw8]YouTube - Lee Evans Tractor Drivers[/ame] Try this made me laugh my socks off. Oh and it has some language in it so you have been warned.
  17. I could just see that one, going on tv with a great big dirty chainsaw and showing how clean it comes out.
  18. I would have said screwdriver aswell. Only coz I've done it before and he hole looks identical to a flat head. Could have been thrown in the van and something went through that way.
  19. Yeah I was already lost. There was too many posts and I missed a page. Any chance of a pm when you have finished a section so I can check it? I'm going to be totally lost tomoz night as I got a long day on demo and won't be home till late.....
  20. I must admit that video makes me laugh no matter how mant times I see it. Probably not fun for the climber but it just reminds me of my old dog when he was a pup and he had a teddy bear.
  21. So it happens when you get in then it doesn't start so you slam the door getting out and start bashing it with a stick like basil???? All these things to check, I did say I would check in the evening but didn't think I would spend all night checking.
  22. Keep it going Adam, this is starting to get interesting. Groundies can fly. I've done it.......... Well I was until I had to come back down again.
  23. Sounds about right but no groan and no major judder at high speed. Just on takeoff. Oh well investigating tomorrow evening.
  24. You gave a quote for the stump? I bet you were just touting for work??? Lol
