  1. Bit like the one on the radio about the fuel strike scare. Some ld women filled up a can of petrol as the stupid mp said then kept in her kitch next to the oven!! Give you three guesses what happend next.
  2. Yeah that's what I found hence the eBay route. I think I was lucky that they sent the wrong parts out and admitted it was there fault. So they sent the right parts, sometime the parts go through customs without paying the tax. It's a hit and miss thing. It cost 25 quid in tax. So not too bad. I would advise looking at an oversized piston and rings rather than a new liner as they are rocking horse poo. Then get it rebored. It's the easiest way, plus it depends on what the bore size is as to how much you rebore. The standard size is 79.00, the wear limit is .40, the oversizes go up in .50mm increments, the max is 82.50, mine has not been rebored before and the bore reading was 79.59 so I need to go up to 81.00 this is because I couldn't find 80.50, and after so much searching I couldn't be botherd to look anymore. If you do end up needing to rebore let me know and I could help you out sorting what you need and how it all gets checked out. If you are unsure as to what you need. The parts are due tomoz so I should be back together by sat. Fingers crossed. P.s these bikes have been nicknamed the tank, they go through anything and keep going. I don't however like the tank being below the seat as there needs to be a fuel pump and the relay can blow, these relays cost 250 quid, trust me they are not worth it, I put a fused switch in and it has been fine.
  3. Haha, sorry but it's always fun when people are on nights. I find that if they just say they are on nights we do try and work around them a bit. If they need the afternoon to sleep we do a morning and go another job for afternoon. It's always good relations to be considerate to a degree. If they come out swearing at us they get the full day of chipper non stop.
  4. F r jones are local ish Kent. The basic ropes, It's the harness you have to think about. And find one you are comfy in. If it don't feel right you won't be happy climbing in it. Everything else is basic stuff. Prussak loops, carabiners.
  5. Why is there a rib up there??? The floods arent that bad are they?
  6. This year I will be mostly....... Working. The boss is of to holiday and I'm left to look after the fort.... What could possibly go wrong?
  7. That was lucky. Thank god for the beer belly I think

    poor pay

I'm no good at Mathis but they just don't add up man. I've worked 18 hrs a day on harvest before but that was my limit. I was starting to doze off at the wheel of the harvester.
  9. Defenders are overrated. Hilux are better. Lol. Its not an easy path and the work will be hard, I would say harder than an army carreer as no one will be telling you what to do and you have to have a drive like no other. When day are hard and you are soaked, freezing, can't feel your feet, but you have a tree to take down, chip and clear, you will wounder why you are doing it. Mentality to do a hard job is vital. Are you the type of person who will do a job regardless of what others say to you? Study in your spare time, still do your job as a copper, but start to build up any kit you need. Having an income and building kit now is a lot easier than quitting and trying to start with some severance pay when the kit will cost thousands. If you are truly unhappy in your job can you go part time and start working in arb on a part time basis aswell?
  10. It's been said before but I would get your basic saw ticket, then volunteer for a company or do some weekend work, be a good introduction to see if it's really what you want to do. At the moment you are bringing in a reliable income compared to self employment or arb work that really works from job to job. If you finish one job in arb and there is not anything lined up next you are out of work simple as, could you afford to be like this? You need to get out there and see a few companies about some part time work. Even if it's dragging brush you will get a good insight into the work and get a few questions in on sight.
  11. But the thing to remember is years ago these were good hp. The hp will have dropped somewhat by now with age. Unless it has had major engine works recently, like a new engine!
  12. Yeah the two tanks are one above the engine the other under the cab.
  13. I could always run faster than the bobbie chasing me...
  14. Somehow it seems to happen and someone would soon be ready to jump in and quote that but highlighting the cowboy bit with some sort of response along the lines of, oh so we're all cowboys now or similar, it's easier to explain a post than see another thread go in the wrong direction.....
  15. Ps, I'm not saying anyone is a cowboy as you have thought about the tpo and done the right thing.
  16. If they went flustered when you mentioned all this IMO they have had someone look at the tree before and said exactly the same thing. Seems they were just after some cowboy who doesn't think about checking these things and just cuts them down.....
  17. That was my thought but I got no offers...........
  18. Quick someone call him on his mobile.
  19. Must be a bike thing or a weather thing, a friend saw one yesterday and I saw this post about the same time. It's not good, I think it's 80% car drivers not thinking bike and 20% biker. I don't like bikes and would probably never ride one, I like 4 wheels. But I'm always weary of bikers being out in good weather, shame every car driver doesn't think the same. Hope the family will be ok.
  20. I must be the lucky one reading posts about crap soil. I got sandy loam in my gardens and haven't used any soil improves, just planted the veg and let it go, If it survives then it's all good. We planted pots, onions, carrots, strawberries. The tomatoes we planted and put one of those plastic greenhouses from the pound shop over them, then we totally forgot about them, just left them to grow, they were in a sun trap part of the garden that I don't go to a lot. When I finally remembered about them they were growing out the plastic and I had to cut it away, I have never seen so many in my life. They started falling off faster than I could pick them. Now I always just plant veg and let them grow, if I get something from them fine, if I don't I know not to try again.
  21. Ok so after seeing posts on Facebook from old school friends moaning that there office air con is too cold I sent them a message asking if they would like to come work outside in the fresh air and sun getting a nice fetching tan! Funny I got polite replies of thanks but no thanks. I would have thought they would have been jumping at the chance Dont know what is wrong with the world. Ok so I'm bored today, why is it you can never get hold of people when you have fixed there saws and you need to send them back to them?
  22. Ever tried to get hold of badger wee. They can scratch you know. Can't do the dishwasher, don't have one.
  23. We sold a 8300 not so long ago. Good condition and well looked after. Always serviced. It went for 2300 in the nd after a bit of haggling. For yours I would haggle it if he wants more than 1500 if he can't get it started for whatever reason then it's always spares or repair non runner. If its not running when you view. Would even go less than that.
  24. That is cool. Did you need the oil tank to be that big or is it just what you had?
