  1. That would be for the many old tractors that are in the farmers shed. The old Massey fords. Fordson majors. There are some real old ones in there. So they are used for doing any work on them. To be honest they are not my spanners but as they are used on the tractors then I use them.
  2. Will try it out on Monday. That's when I will really dig into it. It was a quick look over to ensure there wasn't anything badly wrong with it before I started into it.
  3. Drainage hole for all the fuel and oil that goes all over the place. I had a hole like that. But I'm not telling you what I done with it. Lmao. And yay no mowers. Done them all and they are all gone..... I love seeing the last one leave. Hate seeing the new ones arrive. But for now it's my disco in over the pit. Was happily driving alone when I heard a clang. Looked in the mirror and saw the first part after the down pipe go skidding across the road. So for now it sound like a chieftain tank until Tommorow when I pick up the new bit. Was going to weld it up but can get a bit for £20 so what's the point.
  4. The sensor has two wires. One goes to the box then out onto the kill switch. The other wire goes back to the coil and dead mans handle. If I remove the lot it works. But connect one wire and it cuts out. It doesn't matter what one.... Will try for a description. Wire from coil is to the off switch, this then goes down to the sensor and is mid line back to the coil. Where the dead mans handle also joins the coil. The handle also doesn't work as it's connected to the same wires. I hate wiring. Hopefully a new sensor will sort it out. I can stall the engine out by touching the joins on the wires. Just means I have to be very carefull of the grinding wheel. Oh and one more to bug me. A stihl pole pruner. Pull it over and the chain turns with the pull cord. But fire it up and the chain doesn't move on tick over. Only when it's being pulled over.....
  5. I would but it's also attached to the on/off switch. So if I take the wires off I can't stop the engine without choking it off. Also the dead mans handle doesn't work as it a stump grinder. Getting one ordered but need to do some work on the machine and need to run it up.

  7. Strangely I have one in the car. Don't ask why or what for as I don't actually climb. Just saw it and wanted one. It's never been used. They do look good, but. I wouldn't really trust it on any large saws. Like the 660, the clip does look like it will break under weight. It probably won't just looks like it.

    I have there advanced stuff. Actually very good, plus they are all in there own cases. So now big tool boxes or storage needed, just slide the cases under the bench when not needed. Plus for call outs I just throw the cases in the boot.
  10. Now that's a very big question. Depends on the jobs. I use a lot of whitworth spanners. Also use Britool. But for modern ones I'm not sure. I have got the brief case type one from halfords, the advanced range. They are nice and easy to keep away.
  11. Got a small stump grinder dropped off today. It wouldn't start. So after removing the plug and the off/on switch. It still wouldn't spark. So removed the cables for the oil sensor and away it went. As soon as I re attach the sensor wire it won't spark. So going to change the oil, it was on the over filled side a little. So question. How do to by pass the sensor?

  15. Sounds like you need to fault find. Is the fuel line cracked? Is the impulse line ok. Is the spark nice and strong. Is the throttle linkage working right?
  16. It's on the bench thread. It the meter arm and valve that allows the flow of fuel around the carb. If this becomes blocked it will not allow fuel to flow or if the hieght is wrong it will not allow enough fuel to get through. Or too much fuel. Something like below.
  17. I will never buy a stihl auto tune saw. Stihl never did get the hang of it. They tried it on the ms280 and it failed miserably. Leave the auto to husky and stick with manual tune.
  18. Are you sure the carb is clean? Did you take the meter arm out and give that a blast and is it set correctly? Seems you are lacking fuel. The plug should be nice and wet when trying to start.
  19. Depends on what the running issue is. The crank seals may be shot. This means it starts to run lean. The same is also with the carb boot.
  20. Take the pot off and have a look. Best I can offer I'm affraid. Will just have to investigate.
  21. The other checks are is the cylinder bolted down tight. And is the spark plug all good. Other than a tester you will have to take the cylinder off and check it over, not an easy job on the cut off saws. Although the de comp may look good it may not be working right. If the saw is worth the effort then replace it. The pots a pistons on the cut off saws are a bit pricey. But I would swear very clear of anything cheap. It will not be worth it, trust me. I done an experiment with these cheap ones. And nothing under the 80 quid mark lasted more than 30 seconds.
  22. Well the exhaust side looks good. There looks like some score on intake side, but by a picture it's hard to actually say if it's deep scoring. The decomp could be a fault. Remove the rubber cover off it and put a small amount of washing up liquid around it and then pull over, see if it bubbles up. It could only be the rings or the decomp on loss of comp. a comp tester will tell this easily.
  23. Loss of compression would say piston ring failure. As for the cutting out maybe it was something leading to the failure of the piston. Best to remove the exhaust and have a look. Or get a tester on it. The cut off saws are really bad for losing compression as for the job they are used for. Dirty horrible works. And as builders tend not to look after them. How long you had it?
  24. Is it the older all metal one or the plastic ones that look like the 200t. Get a pick up.
  25. Nah just have that women to blame, big teeth.... Due to the now laws that are suppose to protect children means that all power or discipline have been removed from the parents and teachers. And don't the kids just know it....... Now I'm not saying it didn't do any good, it has as abused children can be helped. Just the way it went out that you are not allowed to discipline your children any more and also police and other authority figures are powerless to help. Sorry about the break in. 1200 does seems a lot tho. They must have really broken that door. When my car was done a fews years ago I didn't even bother with ins, just got the parts and done it myself. Reckoned I saved a fortune and also the no claims aswell. Sometimes it just easier. But then I can fix my own cars anyway and have the tools to.
