  1. Better off spending your money on a tractor with either trailer or roof crane. Turning circle is just shocking, four wheel steer is pants, and that's if it even works, or the wheels even go back in line properly. Driven them a lot in past and present. Gearboxes are horrible and clunky. I would rather sacrifice the road speed and get a tractor.
  2. Happy birthday to Paul. Aka silky fox. Not too much cizzer fella.
  3. Depends on your setup. A big yard is needed, plus getting the dirty soil in from somewhere. Then what are you going to do with the left overs. Hardcore is easy to move on, but other waste isn't. Then machinery outlay. If you can tick the boxes go for it.
  4. I have yet to see a climber "dash" about. Maybe a slow swing to get into a position, but no dash. Ground work is easily the hardest part, no matter what the job. Rushing around to keep the climber happy. Then dragging crap all day, and not to mention the chipping, raking and cleaning up the mess. Of course finding a climber who actually helps out when he comes down is a bit like hens teeth. In my experiences climbers are just arrogant. They generally have no idea of what is going on below. And either don't care or are too busy enjoying to view. Of course there is always that rare moment when a climber worth his weight comes along..... At some point.
  5. Couldn't agree more. Climbers think they have the hard job. Then they start moaning at the groundies that they are too slow. Or my huge pet hate is getting there attention by revving there saw....a groundie will look up, just wait a few seconds. The saw rev just makes me ignore them a little while longer and carry on.
  6. Until they buy said gear from ebay as it looks a bargain. Then they relise the pro user has put it on there because the pro user has run it lean and it's starting to seize. Or it "just needs a service" Then the domestic user gets a bill after bringing it in to have it serviced and are faced with a nice bill for new parts. So then that second hand pro saw been used by said pro is now a huge hole in the domestic pocket. So a new saw costing less than second hand pro and with warranty if it all goes wrong looks quite good. And yes I have had pro saws in from pro users that have seized. Just need to check out the bench thread to see how many seized pro saws have been repaired.
  7. Tidy. Been using a kabota on a bit of a thining, clearing job this week. Botex rotator grab. They are just perfect for getting into tight areas and have more than enough power. Been dragging whole trees out of a river with it aswell. They punch well above there weight.
  8. Is that all. Two days? Have been on a clearance job and didn't get one drink offered for the entire week of work during a summer heat wave. Never again. I'm not sure if forestry is harder.... I mean, you just go in, grab a few cord, load it onto the back of the trailer, move again, grab some more, then off to the landing and take it off again...... Hardest part is filling up with diesel again....
  9. I reckon mitox are on the up. There are many companies trying to catch up with husky and stihl. But as the pro users are stuck with them and won't buy anything else as it is cheap and therefore must be rubbish. Maybe with people not liking the 201t they may look into other makes. I would. After all how can anyone say they don't like anything they havnt tried?
  10. If you had the quad trac you wouldn't have got stuck... :001_tt2::lol: It's been a while since I have done anything like that I must say. Nothing like a stuck tractor up to its axles in it on a Friday.
  11. Any chance of a pic of the damper brakes. Thinking this needs it. Just swing too far.
  12. Been using it a bit this week. And I'm not impressed with the pipe arrangement. The four in are very close together and one just seems to keep coming loose. I have snapped one of the male, male connectors twice now. I have the pipes arranged the best I can see but they still take a battering, one is wearing through to the metal already. There is a bar around the pipes on huge rotator. Thinking of making a guard onto this to protect them a bit from any knocks. The problem I can work out is if your not carefull the grab can swing too far and knock the pipes around. Think I will make a coupe of stops on the sideways swing so it can't travel up too far.
  13. Stupid botex timber grab. So far it has failed twice on me. Going to go back to my thread about them. Silly way the pipes are run into it. They just get trashed.
  14. Agree. Just another saw. Won't last as long as a good name, but then that's what there market would be aimed at.
  15. I know a 064 gong up.
  16. No. As the engines are made else where and then fitted into the cases. Plus they are home owners saws, so not really worth working with, just buying a whole new saw is cheaper.
  17. Side track. On the lifeboat a crew member threw up his dinner. Into a bucket. Another crew member looked at the bucket and saw there was a few pieces of sausages in it. He then picked them out and ate them. Waste not want not was his words. True story. Surfice to say every other crew member was then throwing up into the bucket.....
  18. Nope. Not at that price. The parts are non existent. Brake handles, impulse lines, fuel lines. Pumps. It's a lovely powerful saw and with chug all day long, but for the price and age and weight. I wouldn't.
  19. So so sorry. But I just had to post this.... [ame] [/ame]
  20. :laugh1: I got the front handle off, carb away and all the orange plastic off. Then my brain kicked in when I saw no screws holding the pot down. Yeah I reckon machines are the only way forward. Forget all this climbing malarkey just grab it, cut it, and skid it.
  21. I do take it that on re build you used new rings around the bolt holes? Try re torquing the head down as it wasn't done after a run in period. You may find it will stop with just this.
  22. Have decided that I have no preference against stihl or husky. They are ALL a PITA to work on. Decided I hate chainsaws and they are the spawn of satan. Anyone guess how far I got stripping a 025 before my brain kicked in and told me it was clam shell???? And the new husky topper can do one aswell. Silly stupid design.
  23. You mean something like this!? [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CO8AtNGPwDA[/ame]
  24. There are a few places to get Bradley parts. Depends on area. The Bradley axles are easy enough to find parts for. You will need the shoe sizes and width. So length and width of shoe. If the axle is Bradley chances are the bolt on hitch will be too. These are also available. As a simple example. Not the ones you will need probably. Bradley Doublelock KIT6500 Axle set of 200 x 50 trailer brake shoes | eBay And something like this. Or the other type. BRADLEY CAST TRAILER HITCH/COUPLING 30CWT SPRING DAMPED | eBay
