  1. By conicidence, I have received this email this morning. Hopefully it will clarify things: Dear Dealer Principal, We wanted to make you aware that there are some press articles circulating about Honda’s production facility in North Carolina in the US, and its plans to discontinue production of petrol lawn mowers from September 2023. This is correct and the decision was driven by stricter environmental regulations and changing customer preferences in the US market. You may remember at dealer conference it was presented that all pedestrian mower production for Europe has now transferred to our facility in Orleans, France. This gives Honda in Europe independence and European markets won’t therefore be impacted by the change in the US market. Honda remains committed to the production of the entire range of petrol mowers for Europe. If you receive any questions from customers, please use this position on a reactive basis. Thank you for your continuing support for our Honda Power Products business. Kind regards Stephen Morris Head of Power Products
  2. There is evidence to suggest they may well be. Certainly being reported in the states. This was in my trade journal last Friday: https://www.servicedealer.co.uk/latest-news/reports-that-player-is-to-exit-mower-market
  3. The wording doesnt have to be exact. They havent given any reasons so far...irellevant of wording. Unless youve read something i clearly havent?
  4. Appreciate the feedback OP
  5. Agree.......making a 'throwaway' statement like in the original post is annoying and insulting, which is why I was following it up.
  6. No it doesn't........giving a free trial, for which afterwards is going to cost you £23 per 5 litres, does not explain to anyone how that 'overcomes the cost' I am not saying it's not good stuff because I sell it....and the Stihl motomix, but if I said to a customer- here's a can try it and it will help you understand the cost savings....he quite rightly is going to want an explanation as to how that statement rings true. In the same way you have pretty much done the same to me.
  7. Remember the synthplus stihl chainsaw is rheopecitc......which mean it is VERY fluid when not agitated, but becomes thicker when being thrown around on a running bar and chain so it sticks better. The advantage of this over traditional always 'stringy' chain oil ,is that it flows better through oil pumps, oiler holes etc, so is more likely to find its way to the bar without clogging. The disadvantage of this type of oil, is that you will get more pooling of the oil at rest or when on idle.
  8. Agree with all above. Is the plug wet when you've tried pulling it over a few times, because it should be. IF it is or isn't while you have the plug out spray a bit of carb cleaner/wd40 straight in the plug hole and pop the plug quickly back in and try and start. If it at least tries to start after doing that (if it hasn't done that before), I would suggest in the first instance it is a fuel supply issue.
  9. Interesting, but how does it 'get over the cost barrier' ?
  10. This sort of thing?

    Mini Saws

Maybe, but you have to understand i deal prediminantly domestic users with the odd man in a van gardener thrown in....none are experts per se, so are happy to watch someone with notably more experience than them to demonstrate it....like i say, it almost always ends in a purchase irrelevant .

    Mini Saws

From what I gather from my pro gardener users it's time and convenience compared to getting out a dedicated pole saw. They keep it charged up in the cab of the van and just grab it as and when for the odd job to save you setting up a larger machine. More likely to use it if it's there rather than struggle with a bow saw etc.

I can only vouch for the Stihl GTA26 as that is the one we sell since it was introduced a couple of years ago. Never had one back with an issue and everyone who has made a purchase that we have seen since during the course of our business have said how pleased they are with it and how it out performed their expectations. If anyone is unsure of buying, then I direct them to this video of this guy who tests all the Stihl cordless stuff before going to full market launch- always ends in a sale for us.

    XP550

Let us know what the prognosis is........we do like to be proved correct.......or wrong 😅
  15. Very worrying....how often has this kind of thing been done, and what else are they doing to influence opinion and to shore up an agenda?? This is manipulation of the news......a slippery slope to 1984

Chain spur sprocket cut right through by the drive links? Clutch spring (s) or clips broken or missing? All stuff easy to check first- before you go any further
  17. When Tecumseh went tits up, we still had relatively new machines coming in for carb bits, but we couldn't find any- NOS or pattern back then. However some of the bits you can get pattern now.....but now the machines are so old and near worthless, there's no demand for the parts!
  18. That wasn't really my point. I said, all parts are pretty much obsolete now, which would save the poster time going down the route of approaching a McCulloch dealer, because my meaning of obsolete, is a part (or parts) that has ceased production by the original machine manufacturer I obviously realise NOS parts are sometimes available, as are good used or even pattern parts if you are lucky.
  19. ...but they're still obsolete from McCulloch. New old stock may be found via a dealer or specialist, or good used. But still not produced new any more.
  20. Agree. Here's the parts list for it. Note, the serial numbers match. Good luck, getting anything other than a spark plug and a fuel filter for the power head though.....all pretty much obsolete now double eagle.pdf
  21. Will be interesting to know what the outcome is a "wrong size piston' ie smaller diameter isnt goiing to give you just over 95psi conmpression
  22. I get the odd one of these coming in, but not often. Would be ok for me to sit on a shelf and draw spares from as and when to keep these old ones going
  23. Well, it won't be carbon build up, because if it were then you would have the same issue with or without the plug fitted- removing the plug won't remove the carbon, so you can disregard that you said it might be earlier on. Re-fitting the plug is causing pressure within the engine due to compression- this could highlight a slight bend in the conrod (as I mentioned earlier) particularly as you don't know the history. If the previous owner has messed about removing the clutch or flywheel and it was particularly tight to remove, then 'locking' the piston from moving can easily bend a conrod- or a bent crank or failing bearing, which without pressure applied will rotate 'loosely but still in a circular motion-however will 'collapse' under any pressure 'load' if the race is worn so allowing the crank to rotate 'off centre' during pulling of the recoil
  24. Did say they had taken it off to check the air gap on the coil.
