  1. We no longer need to keep racks of parts except for service items as we receive three deliveries in a five working day period, so every other day. Therefore we always offer to get an item in because if we didnt then we wouldn't have a business. If we lose a sale because a customer simply cannot wait 36 hours for the item to arrive, then they should really have two of everything themselves as back up
  2. I have a similar issue to the OP's. .....you see, I have this piece of string and I need to know how long it is. 😇
  3. Precisely
  4. Cordless stuff (like cars) has no way reached it's pinnacle, whereby the technology gets to a point where it will take a number of years to get to the next stage of improvement. Therefore, what is cutting edge for battery technology this year will be superceded by next years. When technology begins to plateau, you will find your latest cordless product will stay cutting edge for quite a few years before the next big leap. This is why there are so many constant changes to options and improvements today. I have a friend who is a car dealer and there is no market for first gen EV's as the technology is out of date already- who wants a 5 year old EV with a range of 150 miles when the newest models could do double that?
  5. ...but how do you know that's what he means Steve?
  6. Yup.......'Hello may I have a new blade for my chainsaw?' 'Do you mean a bar....the metal part that sticks out the front?' 'No, the chain part that does the cutting' '......a new chain then' Ho ho. Get that a lot from the weekend warriors😁
  7. You really aren't spolit for choice with these as predominantly they are made for the domestic/man in a van gardener type stuff such as what you have used already. And three months use in a commercial environment is good....paid for itself umpteen times over in that time (or it should have if your pricing is correct) and that is probably 4 or 5 years work its had in that 3 month period. However Pellenc products would be my recommended choice for a commercial user.
  8. You buy one of those on a friday, and sure as eggs is eggs, i will see you in my place on a monday....along with all the ryobi, flymo, mcculloch and other 'shed' stuff people have made the mistake of buying. Take my word for it....if you want the word of someone thats been repairing stuff for over 22 years.
  9. Agree....so if you want the 1.3mm chain, then the ms181 comes fitted with that as standard....cant remember if the ms171 does...i havent got my catalogue in front of me. But your budget will need to increase if you want the 1.3mm chain models
  10. The Stihl MS170/180 is my choice given the budget. Can get parts for it on the moon if needs be and agents are easy to find. Makita mentioned above is an okish machine, but unlike my comments above spares are difficult to source in a hurry- as are an agent.
  11. To be fair, if you are into climbing you will always have someone to 'look up to'
  12. Well, it wasn't just the crank seals, but the crank as well as other associated parts, so it didn't stack up. I didn't add that, as I didn't think it was really relevant TBH.
  13. Thanks for all your help guys! Appreciated 😆🥱
  14. ..actually smoking even a cigarette in a car when anyone under the age of 18 are present is a criminal offence since 2015. A lot of people have forgotten than piece of legislation....including the police I may add.
  15. Not sure if this is the right forum, but I am after a Stihl MS240 that's got a scored piston/Barrell- don't need the bar and chain with it- just the body. Couple of years ago I made the mistake of buying a new piston/barrell for my own MS240 thinking the reason it had failed was an under oiled mix, then realised when I got it apart the crank seals had failed, so I ended up scrapping it. Consequently I have a new piston/barrell set in my garage gathering dust waiting for a donor saw to bring back to life for use around the house. I normally have the odd one or two come in but haven't seen one for ages.
  16. Drivers for some years now are pretty much free to do as they like due to the lack of a regular police presence, and even if there is they are reluctant to pull people over for what they now consider 'minor' infractions as the paperwork is very time consuming- but invariably if they were to pull someone over for a blown tail light, then this could and normally can lead to other infractions- blown bulbs always used to be a good excuse for the police to pull you over. Nowadays even more serious driving offences they turn a blind eye. When was the last time you were stopped for a random police check? 20 years ago I came across those a couple of times a year- now never. Followed a police car yesterday whilst I was driving to work......I spotted 19 fineable offences they could have pulled people over for but they didn't. 8 driving whilst using a phone 2 no seat belt, 1 drinking whilst driving (coffee) 1 putting make up on, 3 faulty rear lamps, 1 no number plate on the front, 3 motorised scooters being used on a public footpath/road. This was on just a 5 mile journey. The problem with this is, the longer people 'get away with it' the more normal and legal they will believe it to be, and so they move on to the next illegal thing.
  17. Irony is lost on some. ☹️
  18. Yup bonkers. I went to the jubilee celebrations earlier on this year and when the parade finished we were allowed down the Mall and we and several thousand others made our way towards Buckingham Palace to catch the end of the celebrations. Never seen the Queen and other senior royals in 'real life' up to that point, but to everyone's surprise the Queen, Charles, William etc all came out to wave on the balcony in view of us- as soon as this happened everyone around us lifted their phones up and started recording the event- rather than actually taking it in with their own eyes, they watched it through their screens.....all arms held up with phones in them ruined our view to the extent we had to weave our heads around to get momentary views with our own eyes. I really don't know what is wrong with society now, that it is more important to show off to people online that you have witnessed an event rather than witness it with your own eyes.
  19. ...you are referring to the STD ones aren't you?
  20. Yup....that is a steal. Would have ended up on one of my shelves if I had got in first. Interesting to know how the OP came across it. Somebody didn't know it's true value.
  21. 🤣🤣🤣 👍
  22. STIHL 044 Chainsaw NEW In Box OEM VINTAGE CHAINSAW 10MM Early Model NOS RARE WWW.EBAY.COM Stihl 044 OEM NEW OLD STOCK Vintage Chainsaw SUCH A RARE OPPORTUNITY AWAITS. DON'T SLEEP ON THIS... Good money if he gets it!
  23. I can't disagree with that statement. From a financial perspective you are of course correct. All I was really stating, it was a pity to put to work an old machine like that, which in that condition is pretty rare and would interest collectors to have as a 'shelf queen' Futhermore, issues can now arise during use from perished, hardened crank seals, carb diaphragms etc from long term storage of a near 25 year old saw. Worth bearing in mind.
  24. Oh, yes your're right...just viewed the pic. Oh dear ☹️
  25. Wow....thats a nice find. To a collector thats worth at least £400 or £500- if its unused with all the bits. Soon as you use that you will devalue it. If you are not fussy, personally i would list it as new old stock on the bay and that will fly out...use your profit to buy a near new younger saw if you arent a collector and just need a bigish saw
