Chain spur sprocket cut right through by the drive links? Clutch spring (s) or clips broken or missing? All stuff easy to check first- before you go any further
  2. When Tecumseh went tits up, we still had relatively new machines coming in for carb bits, but we couldn't find any- NOS or pattern back then. However some of the bits you can get pattern now.....but now the machines are so old and near worthless, there's no demand for the parts!
  3. That wasn't really my point. I said, all parts are pretty much obsolete now, which would save the poster time going down the route of approaching a McCulloch dealer, because my meaning of obsolete, is a part (or parts) that has ceased production by the original machine manufacturer I obviously realise NOS parts are sometimes available, as are good used or even pattern parts if you are lucky.
  4. ...but they're still obsolete from McCulloch. New old stock may be found via a dealer or specialist, or good used. But still not produced new any more.
  5. Agree. Here's the parts list for it. Note, the serial numbers match. Good luck, getting anything other than a spark plug and a fuel filter for the power head though.....all pretty much obsolete now double eagle.pdf
  6. Will be interesting to know what the outcome is a "wrong size piston' ie smaller diameter isnt goiing to give you just over 95psi conmpression
  7. I get the odd one of these coming in, but not often. Would be ok for me to sit on a shelf and draw spares from as and when to keep these old ones going
  8. Well, it won't be carbon build up, because if it were then you would have the same issue with or without the plug fitted- removing the plug won't remove the carbon, so you can disregard that you said it might be earlier on. Re-fitting the plug is causing pressure within the engine due to compression- this could highlight a slight bend in the conrod (as I mentioned earlier) particularly as you don't know the history. If the previous owner has messed about removing the clutch or flywheel and it was particularly tight to remove, then 'locking' the piston from moving can easily bend a conrod- or a bent crank or failing bearing, which without pressure applied will rotate 'loosely but still in a circular motion-however will 'collapse' under any pressure 'load' if the race is worn so allowing the crank to rotate 'off centre' during pulling of the recoil
  9. Did say they had taken it off to check the air gap on the coil.
  10. Incorrect plug length? Flooding due to low compression and hydraulic lock? Is the plug wet through when you remove it? That's where I would start. Bit confused where you state 'and even after 30 hard pulls (10 of which were of the seized type) the best I could get was 90 psi' It's either 'seized' or you can pull it over...if it's seized, then it's seized...if you can pull it over albeit with increasing difficulty, then it's not seized...which is it?
  11. Well, if the tories cannot manage money any more, then god help us for the rest of the parties get involved. They are all currently bad, but I think the alternatives are much worse. A case of less crap, rather than best option. I blame the new politicians coming through in all parties who ten years ago where of this new generation who are tech savvy, common sense short. Gone though education and never been told they are wrong or disciplined in any way. Everyone got a winners medal just for taking part...that sort of thing. We are now seeing the fruits of that.
  12. My wife can be quite brazen?
  13. Agree. I had a near new set of boots which i used occasionally for jobs around the house maybe a couple of times a year....i even kept them in a proper boot bag. I didnt use them for 18 months or so, then when i got them out to use i started walking in them and i thought it was lumps of mud falling off the underside then realised it was the heels crumbling. Avoid urethane
  14. I'm not saying you're wrong, but that's the motivation we have here
  15. 'Don't feed the monkeys' Views/subs to youtube gets ads and an income. Only reason he's here. Title of one vid confirms it.
  16. Doesn't make the saw a fake though does it? A fake sale, yes.
  17. I think leaving it isn't an option
  18. On the otherhand.....😁Yeah....its a fake. I'"ll give you 50 quid to take it off your hands mate.
  19. The stihl easy file is a very good tool for those that are starting out or not sure what they are doing. Consists of a round and flat file so does raker and cutters at same time. I was going to say foolproof....but i had one guy struggle to even open the packaging, so maybe not quite!
  20. Yup....and only sharpen on the upper side, not lower. Any burring on the underside should just be gently filed away to clean it up only...not sharpen . Oh, and use a wire brush or something similar on your dremel to clean the crud off the teeth first. Leaving gum and varnish on them simply attracts more of the same and then you get a snowball effect and the blades can slow, can lift so you have a gap between them and can also seize completely if stored
  21. Looks ok to me. All the giveaways like torx head markings bar nut markings..the little things that fakers skip on....all seem fine. Why?
  22. Hahaha....i noticed that and so did my wife...great similarity.
  23. Whoevers been landed with the short bird has had a right result when it comes to the overhead lifts week. 😆
  24. Nothing to do with the best celeb dancer...all to do with who's ticked the most boxes.
