  1. Had a thorn go in quite deep, managed to extricate it and thought all was well, 4-5 days later the swelling and pain made me visit the local A&E. Was immediately taken to have minor surgery, the tip had wedge in the bone and gone severely septic! Get it sorted
  2. Good work truck, but cheap plastics in cab, bodies rot quickly - Iveco is owned by Fiat! and the parts are expensive.

  6. Petrol fumes are thought to cause some forms of Cancer, particularly linked to Leakaemia and Lymphoma, both of which are cancers of the blood. The harmful content is benzene. Also, herbicides and insecticides have chemical content that can cause these cancers and others. If you have worked all/most of your adult life with fuel/fumes, then anything you can do to reduce your exposure is good for your health.
  7. Cuckoo Lane in Tonbridge is a wood yard - try there maybe?

  9. The steel bodies are really heavy, however, most of the Alloy bodies, still have a steel floor for strength and durability. I have one of each - a 54 plate with steel body wood/composite chip box and a 10 plate One stop alloy body. You are welcome to pop over and have a look at both for comparison purposes. I,m in West Malling Chris
  10. The engine specs quoted above are for the newer 4.4 V8 diesel, the older squarer 70's run 4.2 Norm aspirated 6 cylinder diesels. The 70's are superior to any other truck in my experience. If towing diggers etc in the UK an 80 or 100 series Land Cruiser will do you proud, and tow 3.5 tonne alot more comfortably than a Defender.
  11. Tree Surgeon, based in West Malling, Kent looking for an experienced Climber on a self employed/sub-contract basis, as and when the need is there. The person will require a full compliment of tickets – as a bare minimum of CS30, CS31, CS38 and CS39, be a confident climber and able in the art of rigging. Have your own climbing kit, saws and PPE. We cover West Malling, Medway Towns, Maidstone, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Bromley, Orpington and into SE London and the surrounding and outlying villages. Please contact Chris for a chat, on: 07812 344740
  12. 80 series is a great all round vehicle, 100 series is more modern, so nicer to drive. Loved D4 I drove, but would be frightened of the repair bills!!
  13. Would recommend Foleys without a momenst hesitation! They know Land Rovers inside out! I've had dealing with them going back 15 years. Paul or Stuart Foley - 01279 793500 Foley Land Rover Sales, Conversions, Repairs, Servicing and Export. Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Essex, London, Hertfordshire, Bishops Stortford, Woodford Green, Loughton, Cheshunt, Harlow, Epping, Hertford, Ware, Thornwood, Turnford, Roydon
  14. For your budget - £1500 ish, a 300 Tdi Disco but beware the dreaded rust - particularly under boot carpet. Nissan Terrano are a great workhorse, they run and run - mate of mine overlanded one back from South Africa to Uk with no major issues. You's get a fair one for your money too.
  15.

  16. Quite a few 80 & 100 series Cruisers converted to flat beds in Oz
  17. Wouldn't bother with a US work truck unless I was in the States - too thirsty/costly to run/expensive on parts/too large, etc, etc @ Josharb - you were pretty lucky not to have bought that Cruiser, the 3.4 5 cylinder diesel, is probably the worst engine Toyota has built, poor economy, poor power and prone to head problems etc. DO NOT bother, save your money for a 4.2 straight Six or buy a Land ROver!! 70 Series Cruisers are awesome, and just run and run, but £40,000 + !!!??? Are you sure ? Could buy two Land Rovers for that
  18. Swinny have a look at the following forum Ford Transit Forum ? Index page
  19. Swinny - could you keep me informed if you get any info, something I'm looking into Thanks Chris
  20. Stick by what I said - I have owned/operated numerous LR's and LC's here in the Uk and Africa, and I would choose an LC70, 80 or 100 over LR anyday. Although, Defenders do what they say on the tin, just cost loads in repairs!
  21. The BEST 4x4 out there by far, yes the LR Disco3/4 might be tech more advanced, but it'll cost a fortune in repairs, I'm sure. The LC100 will last, almost, forever! Look at Land Cruiser Club Or contact Julian Voelcker at: Overland Cruisers | Overland Cruisers, specialists in preparing and servicing Toyota Land Cruisers He is the best LC tech in the country and may know of something for sale. Chris
  22. Got to say, I love the Hilux, but it is only rated at 2250, although plated at 2800kg! Friend tows regularly with his, at max ratings and never had a problem. Great Wall Steed - I'd rather walk! I looked at one at launch and the thing is a pile of S***!! Build quality and quality of all the materials inc the metal, which forms the structure is total garbage. Think it rather -1 in the crash tests!
  23. I have been balancing up this exact same thing recently. Purchased a newer truck - Transit Double Cab tipper. Now the whole chipper conundrum! For me its more TW125 against 150 and whether to go new or used??? Or what else is out there for similar money - Vermeer, Schiesling, Grren Mech, etc Be interested to see your chipper in action Mark Bolam, as not seen the smaller TW's before. Chris
