  1. I've just started out in Hedgelaying, been considering what Billhook to get - used a Kent style one on my course - advice?? Plus, where do you find list of the styles of Billhooks, and what all the No.s and codes mean?? Thanks
  2. Feel for your mate, Mark. I got turned over near West Malling a few months ago, lost about £2-3000's worth of kit! KM90, Km130 & 2 HL135 heads, BR420 blower, BG86 Blower, Ms260, plus several pairs of quality loppers. Left in customers garden while popping to yard with some cuttings/branches. When I got back customer had gone out and tools were gone!
  3. If theres one thing in this world really freaks me out its RATS! Absolutely detest the damn things. Another person who died fairly recently from Leptospirosis, aka: Weils Disease, was Andrew (Andy) Holmes MBE, twice an Olympic Gold Medal winner with Steve Redgrave. He retired from rowing in 1990, and severed all contacts witht the sport. He came back to the sport in approx 2008/2009, but contracted Weils and passed away in London on 24th October 2010, 9 days after his 51st birthday. A terribly sad ending for a superb athlete. Just a reminder that there is no definite cure once you have contracted Weils! On a happier note - Merry Christmas to all on Arbtalk.
  4. Good to burn wet or dry, but will get better with age
  5. Going to my Brother in laws gaff. He is helping his Mrs and M-in-law cook for 10 adults 6 kids and a babe in arms. Expect we are having the full monty. Everyone Enjoy!
  6. @ Ross did it cause cuts, even through the trousers ? or cut through the trouser material? Thanks
  7. Been wearing Pfanner Stretch Air's for about 7 years, recently got a pair of the newer Gladiators - Type 2 C class, they are MUCH tighter and significantly hotter! Don't think I'd want to wear them much in the Summer.
  8. I can' t help but be pulled both ways on theis one! Respect for the nerve and bravery that Charlie has, however, you said it yourself - a bit cheeky asking us to advise you how to do it!? My true thoughts are you are going a step too far - it takes quite a bit of experience, to gain the knowledge required to do work like this, correctly and safely.
  9. If its locking up then yes you have either damaged a sensor or more likely some of the pipework. Have a gander in the pit if you find anything and its an easy fix, fine. However, remember the truck is under warranty and you don't want to effect anything. Chris
  10. Pictures of the L200 current and tipper conversion later, please!
  11. Agree with Guss and Old Mill Tree Care - the foreign nationals most will fear are the non-tax paying bandits from Eastern Europe and other far flung shores, plus of course travellers. I don't like to tar all with the same brush but the threat from these types is spreading, and whereever they go, trouble/crime rises and the Police to jack to stop it or enforce the law - I come from a family of either Coppers or Squaddies so feel I am able to have that pop! Rant over!!!
  12. Real deal all the way, I hate them cheap fake things. I love Christmas for the look on the kids faces.
  13. Hope they catch them and you get some of your dosh back - good luck!
  14. Christ thats cheap, didn't realise it was that cheap over there! Other positives - loads of space for off roading, cheap Unimogs! Some Uber cool G-wagens, camping trucks, etc, etc,............................. They do however, have their own social problems, due to illegal immigrants, legal but unwanted immigrants, paying for the rebuilding in the East, and the way they have saddled themselves with bailing out the Eurozone. Think I might learn German!
  15. Gutted for you mate. Will the Police have no luck in tracking the individuals involved?
  16. Nice job there Gareth - decent enough truck in the firs place if a bit bland, but you have transformed it.
  17. If you have a ddecent sized outer wall to the house, put up some holds on there?
  18.
  19. Had a Stihl Kombi KM85r for last 6 years, until it was stolen recently. Fantastic bit of kit, strimmer head, mower, 135 Hedgecutter and extension. Have replaced with a KM 130 4 mix, and a little unnerved by the amount of poor feedback about them.
  20. Have pm'd you
  21. As it says, I need a climber for a day, Maidstone/Leeds Castle area. Contact me by pm Chris
  22. Did mine a 3 years ago - ish. It was one day a week for 4-8 weeks. Easy enough, just a few assignments to write and the main lessons at the end. No real stress just need to apply yourself.
  23. Cracking work there Si - looks well though out and well executed. Out of interest, approx what has it cost you? How much would your mate charge to make another - I will possibly be in this position shortly. Aiming to buy a tipper and convert for Arb use, however, I would want sides that hinge halfway up, and possibly removable barn doors/rear posts. Looking forward to the finished truck - liked the idea above, of basket over tool box. Chris
  24. Congrats on the new job, hope it exceeds your expectations - sounds awesome. Can't but think that what goes around comes around, and you have just reaped the rewards. Chris
  25. The very best of luck mate, if any one deserves a fair break its you. Keep us informed...........
