  1. It's not actually mine but it's what I use to do my splitting. Buying my own next year, going to get one the same but probably with a wider table
  2. If I'm understanding you correctly the other hole in the guide bar is for when you flip the guide bar over... You are supposed to turn the bar every so often so it wears evenly. I turn it every time I sharpen it.
  3. Winds me up too mate. Especially since smaller trailers are harder to back with than large ones. Always thought it was a ridiculous law. I'll be honest if I'm not going on any main roads then I do drive with bigger than 750kg trailers on the back and I'm sure there are plenty of other people that do too.
  4. I'm having one of those metal tilting trays made by a steelwork fabricator as I type this. He said he'll do it for between £80-£100. The Fuelwood one is £225+VAT and delivery Might be worth asking a fabby in your area if they can make one for you for a lot cheaper.
  5. Good to hear, we've quite a few sycamore that have to be removed as part of a scheme that the farm is in so planning on making a start on them soon
  6. It's one that a farmer near me made, not one of the branded ones. So its one handed operation and no auto return but I prefer that
  7. I've never timed it properly when using the machine but last time I did enough to fill 7no. 1m3 vented bags in about 2 & a half hours I think. That was me on my own having to put the logs on the splitting table. If theirs one person loading and one operating the splitter it's even faster. That's splitting a big pile of wood that's already been logged up previously.
  8. I used to be an axe man, have an X27 and still do a little bit with. Like others have said you can go faster than a machine to start with but I can split all day no matter how knotty with a hydraulic splitter going at the same rate. No more bad back and general aches and pains. I'm a hydraulic splitter man now!
  9. Good to see I'm getting a reasonable price, I thought it seemed an ok price but wasn't sure till I saw what others have posted in here.
  10. I can get 3kg bags for £1.50 per bag including delivery.
  11. The only thing I would change about the grinder is to have a plug fitted on the end instead of crocodile clips. Then I could use it inside the workshop which is where I would really like to use it. Other than that it's been great, especially when I used it to sort a mates knackered chain out.
  12. Will be interested to hear what the 372 is like after being ported. Something I would like to have done after this winter
  13. Rarely use my laptop since I got an iPad. They just work every time without fail quick and easy that's what makes Apple products so good. Taking photos on my iPhone and then them appearing on the iCloud to view on my iPad is neat too.
  14. I use MCA Kingstone too. Just google that name and you'll find his eBay adverts.
  15. I get this all the time. Delivered to a new customer last week and when he was asking about the price and load size he wanted to know how much it was going to weigh... told him I don't sell by weight, I sell by volume. Not even sure you are allowed to sell by weight? When I got there he said he was asking about weight as the person he bought from previously was selling it in 1 ton loads. But he said it was about the same size as the load I delivered. Which if I had to guess I'd say it was no way a ton, maybe half a ton at the very most of nice dry seasoned logs. Another one is people thinking if it turns up in a builders bag then it must weigh 1 ton... Not read all the thread so apologies if I've basically said the same as everyone else
  16. Sounds familiar. I had a small problem with one of my saws, took it to the dealer, they said phone Husky. Phoned and got same reply as you that the dealer shouldn't be getting me to phone. I bet its the same dealer
  17. Sounds awful. Are they offering a refund/new saw or do they just keep fixing it and hope you'll eventually go away?
  18. I have a 20 inch bar on my 372 and it seems a very good match. I'm going to try it on a 28" bar as it's only going to be run on the 28 very occasionally, I don't do enough big trees to warrant getting a really big saw. And if it doesn't pull it as well as I'd like I can always get it spudtuned...
  19. Easy to set up, just clamps over the bar then set the height of the file and file stop up and you're ready to go. Just different stones to suit your chain. You set the angle on the dial, there's no filing by eye. It comes with battery clamps. Rob's video shows you how to use it including setting the angle on the dial. Hope that helps
  20. I bought one about 3 months ago from you Rob but didn't get round to using it till this weekend just gone (sorry!) as I hadn't used my saws very much over the summer! A mate of mine had been cutting gorse bushes off some rock ends and made a right mess of his chain so seemed the perfect opportunity to give it a try out as he was thinking he might have to get a new chain so I had nothing to lose if I made a mess of it. It came out really well. Was very easy to use, now I've used it once I'll be able to get set up faster next time Belated thanks
  21. I sound a similar set up to you size wise. I've been logging up with a Oregon Easy Saw Horse then borrowing my Uncles log splitter every now and then. Then load in to ventilated bulk bags and stack with the tractor. I used to split with an axe, still do the odd bit with an axe but a log splitter is definitely where my money is going next year. Also where I can I've started logging the tree up where it falls instead of cutting it in to lengths then having to handle it again to cut in to logs! Obviously can only do that if you are felling your own trees rather than buying cord in though.
  22. Saw a Balfor PTO driven one on eBay last week that went for £800, think it was only a year maybe 2 old. Just for reference.
  23. Is there anywhere in South Cumbria, preferably Kendal area, to sharpen a blade and possibly replace a missing tooth on another blade we've got? Last place we took it to sharpened the blade but didn't sink the teeth so not cutting well at the moment
