  1. Agreed, seems ok to me when it's only half a cube. £50 for a builders bag and they collect it at that price. Delivery extra.
  2. Got my Helko from F R Jones, short handled version for now. May buy the long handle one too soon. Seems well made. What did you get in the end Jon
  3. Same here, the rain needs to give over! Got loads of wood down but can't even get the quad in to get it out, never mind the tractor
  4. Cash on delivery or next time they order they pay for what they took last time is what I do. Depends how much you trust them I guess!
  5. Cheers. Will be ok for me, I don't log in the rain! I'll give one a try!
  6. Is it still parked there like that now?
  7. Are the Helko ones any good? Or are they a bit heavy with the wooden handle?
  8. I have an Ash about 5 foot diameter on the to do list that I will get a pic of when I get round to doing it. The tops already been taken down by a tree surgeon but I'm felling the bottom half. Still a lot of wood (logs) in it!
  9. Yeah it did turn Orange after about hour come to think of it! Thanks!
  10. Is/was this an Aspen? Not really sure so thought I'd better ask. It's quite light in weight for the size of it. There's 4 of them all growing together in a very wet boggy bit of woodland with a small stream right next to it. It's not Ash, it's not Sycamore and definitely not Oak which are the other trees growing in there. I've dropped one of these before somewhere else and it was also growing next to a stream
  11. Pretty sure it's not the end of the world, it's just the last day in the Mayan Calendar year? So don't worry
  12. Works fine. I don't find it any easier or harder to use than a normal chain adjuster though. Only advantage is not having to carry a chain tool which is not really an advantage for me as I always have one with me for adjusting the 372 anyway
  13. I have one. It came with an 18" bar but I've put a 15" bar on and it's a perfect little saw for snedding and felling smaller diameter stuff. It really does make a big difference having a 15" bar over the 18".
  14. You can't sell logs by weight, Oak weighs a lot more than other woods for a start. I sell by volume and people still don't seem to grasp what 1m3 is. When they don't understand I usually just end up saying it's the same as 2 builders bags. Which it is.
  15. Here's mine. Only cost £50 in the end
  16. Sounds like a good reason not to use bags. Or if you do then tip them in to a trailer of a known volume to deliver and sell by the trailers volume instead.
  17. Enquired about one end of last week. Had a quick friendly response from Riko about it. Just mulling it over at the moment, seems like a nice bit of kit. I keep looking for a 2nd hand one but there just isn't any about!
  18. The price and performance sound very appealing. I know this really shouldn't matter but I can't help but think it looks a bit cheap like an Aldi special. But if it performs well that doesn't matter. What are parts and general support like for it over here?
  19. I do about 50% stacking, 50% leave it on the drive. I find stacking does win you repeat custom, the amount of times I've heard "the last person I got logs off just tipped it on the drive and drove off"... I keep saying I'm going to start charging for it but not sure what to do about my regular customers as they won't want to have to start paying extra for something they used to get free.
  20. Same here, so glad I don't have to buy cord in. Anyway, felling trees is the fun part of the job
  21. The public are definitely aware of this cold spell coming, got a few more orders in than normal all of a sudden
  22. I've bought a saw from them. Came next day, can't complain. Just had one phone call when I ordered to ask if I knew how to operate a chainsaw, didn't have to provide any certificates or anything so nice and easy that way. Good choice on the 372 BTW
  23. What's summer again?
  24. That's the one. I find the best thing to do with big knotty stuff is start at the edges and work in instead of going straight down the middle. Can't fault the speed of it, especially running on a nice new Case JXU
  25. Going well at the moment. Only problem I've got is I buy my kindling in as it's not viable to invest in the equipment to do it myself for the quantity I sell but my supplier's supplier is letting him down. And I'm just about out of it I only need a couple hundred bags for now!
