  1. Stack it on pallets and put pallets on top before putting a tarp over it? But don't have the tarp hanging down, just have so it keeps the rain off the top leaving the sides open. The pallet on top of the stack should help keep a bit of airflow between the top layer of logs and the tarp.
  2. Looks good. If you stack the front up you'll be able to fill it all the way up to the roof without it spilling out!
  3. Cheers for the replies. Green bags sounds good but just been looking at the bag supplies website and they are quite a bit more expensive than everyone else.
  4. Do you know where is the best place to look for a 2nd hand sliding/swinging saw bench? Which makes should I be searching for? We have a totally unguarded non sliding saw bench and I hate using it
  5. Which vented bulk bags do people recommend? Seen some on eBay for sale by mca Kingstone and some by Jimpex, just wondered if some are better than others? Longer lasting the better. Thanks
  6. Asking on here as although it's not wood, it is fuel related so someone might know. Is there any use for the waste that is left at the bottom of a heap of coal? It's all the smaller pieces of coal & bits that snap off and fall through to the bottom of the pile as the decent size stuff gets dug out over the years. My mates got quite a big pile of it at the bottom of a coal chute in the cellar of an old house and wondered if there was a good way to get rid of it? I would guess there is equivalent to a 1m3 trailer load there if not more and not sure what to do with it.
  7. Quick update re: Husky 372xp that Spud looked over for me. Used it for the first time for an hour or so yesterday after I finally got a bar & chain for it... Bit of a step up from my 40cc Husky. It's a beast!
  8. Can't beat a good wood stack, I always think it seems a shame to take them apart! Turns out I am going to have to do something at the back of my store as with all this heavy rain we've had it's wet the bottom half of the stack. They dry out again ok at the moment but when the temperature drops in winter they'll stay wet. Got a load of corrugated sheets kicking round so might nail them to the back lower half to keep the rain off. There will still be a gap between the sheets & the logs so airflow should be ok... Will wait for a few warm dry days before I do it to make sure the logs have dried out first. I might even stick some guttering on cos I reckon most of it is coming from the water running off the roof. The front is bone dry, not one drop of water getting in.
  9. Think I'll stick to my Oregon Easy saw horse. As said the last one of those is basically the same thing. Only problem I find sometimes with these multi log saw horses is that occasionally as you cut through, the stack will drop mid cut and you sometimes end up clipping the metal uprights because of it... one person on the saw horse and one person splitting can be fairly productive.
  10. Thanks for the review, what I wanted to hear. I've ordered it now so will post up what I think of it when it arrives and gets some use
  11. Thanks Rob, very fair. I will PM you.
  12. I was mainly thinking it would be good for sharpening a 28" bar but would use it on my smaller bars too (15", 18" & 20"). The video on your site is really good, always good to see something explained and being used before you buy!
  13. Looking for some feedback on the above. Looks good in the video but be nice to hear from people that own one or have used one? What do you think? Cheers
  14. You wouldn't want to be sat outside the Ring 'o Bells today
  15. Love mine! The low weight means you can swing it all day, don't even have to swing it hard to split most logs. Like Adamam says it feels like it shouldn't work but it just does!
  16. Imagine if everyone had stoves capable of burning 1m long logs... would save so much time!
  17. I just upload photos through the iPad photobucket app then paste the link in to my post. Use iPhone for taking pictures though, much handier and a lot better than the iPads camera!
  18. Cheers I was thinking a tonne seemed a lot!
  19. Ash Tree? Been meaning to get some photos for a while and ask about Don't know if I'm being paranoid after seeing the above but is this starting with something too? Thanks
  20. £12 on Tuesday from 18 panels. Won't have been anything like that today though.
  21. I'd like to know too. Will blend in to the surroundings better in green.
  22. Survey reveals that Albedo must have far too much spare time on his hands
  23. Always compare the total price including postage. Places that sell a product a bit cheaper tend to have high postage costs so end up being no cheaper over all.
  24. Yeah I'm sure there is a way round it. The weight should come down enough when seasoned for the tractor to be able to lift them. Thanks for your help.
  25. Bugger, I don't know if the tractor I use would lift 1000kg?! International 584 with a Tanco 968 loader - modern tackle...
