  1. Can't beat a good wood stack, I always think it seems a shame to take them apart! Turns out I am going to have to do something at the back of my store as with all this heavy rain we've had it's wet the bottom half of the stack. They dry out again ok at the moment but when the temperature drops in winter they'll stay wet. Got a load of corrugated sheets kicking round so might nail them to the back lower half to keep the rain off. There will still be a gap between the sheets & the logs so airflow should be ok... Will wait for a few warm dry days before I do it to make sure the logs have dried out first. I might even stick some guttering on cos I reckon most of it is coming from the water running off the roof. The front is bone dry, not one drop of water getting in.
  2. Think I'll stick to my Oregon Easy saw horse. As said the last one of those is basically the same thing. Only problem I find sometimes with these multi log saw horses is that occasionally as you cut through, the stack will drop mid cut and you sometimes end up clipping the metal uprights because of it... one person on the saw horse and one person splitting can be fairly productive.
  3. Thanks for the review, what I wanted to hear. I've ordered it now so will post up what I think of it when it arrives and gets some use
  4. Thanks Rob, very fair. I will PM you.
  5. I was mainly thinking it would be good for sharpening a 28" bar but would use it on my smaller bars too (15", 18" & 20"). The video on your site is really good, always good to see something explained and being used before you buy!
  6. Looking for some feedback on the above. Looks good in the video but be nice to hear from people that own one or have used one? What do you think? Cheers
  7. You wouldn't want to be sat outside the Ring 'o Bells today
  8. Love mine! The low weight means you can swing it all day, don't even have to swing it hard to split most logs. Like Adamam says it feels like it shouldn't work but it just does!
  9. Imagine if everyone had stoves capable of burning 1m long logs... would save so much time!
  10. I just upload photos through the iPad photobucket app then paste the link in to my post. Use iPhone for taking pictures though, much handier and a lot better than the iPads camera!
  11. Cheers I was thinking a tonne seemed a lot!
  12. Ash Tree? Been meaning to get some photos for a while and ask about Don't know if I'm being paranoid after seeing the above but is this starting with something too? Thanks
  13. £12 on Tuesday from 18 panels. Won't have been anything like that today though.
  14. I'd like to know too. Will blend in to the surroundings better in green.
  15. Survey reveals that Albedo must have far too much spare time on his hands
  16. Always compare the total price including postage. Places that sell a product a bit cheaper tend to have high postage costs so end up being no cheaper over all.
  17. Yeah I'm sure there is a way round it. The weight should come down enough when seasoned for the tractor to be able to lift them. Thanks for your help.
  18. Bugger, I don't know if the tractor I use would lift 1000kg?! International 584 with a Tanco 968 loader - modern tackle...
  19. Theres a program called Extreme Loggers starting this Wednesday at 9pm on Quest. Not sure if it's an old program or fairly recent - I haven't seen it before. Just thought I'd give people a heads up.
  20. Think so, not looked around to see where is cheapest. Could save a lot of time so maybe worth the £5 in that respect, even better if reusable.
  21. I'm seriously thinking about getting vented bags, would save me a bit of handling and I can only store so much in my shed so these could be outside with a tarp just on the top. Where do you get yours from? I'm guessing they would weigh less than a big bale even if full of green oak?
  22. I'll PM you swinny but it was in South Cumbria and yeah he had a couple of other saws for sale as he had stopped doing treework. He said it hadn't done much work and turns out he was right
  23. Cheers Spud. Looks like I've got a good one! Looking forward to using it. Going to get a 20" bar and a 24" bar for it I think. Should give me enough options and then I've got my Husky 440 for snedding and any smaller stuff Just out interest I notice Husqvarna say you can run a 28" bar on the 372... anyone done it?
  24. Looks a neat bit of kit if it lives up to its claims...
  25. I think I'll put it through parcel2go as engine parts. It's well packaged up in a sturdy box and filled all round with bubble wrap so I can't see there being any problem! parcel2go is the cheapest by far for using Yodel.
