  1. Yes that's the one! Not begrudging them, they are obviously a big professional company and been around a lot longer than me and my little set up. If they have a big delivery charge on top then I guess that's not as bad as I first thought as I was starting to worry I was massively overpriced! Thanks for the info. And yeah that's for 1 cubic metre, it says that in their advert.
  2. Just seen there is a woodyard local to me selling at £55 per cube for seasoned hardwood which seems very cheap. I can't compete with that and don't intend on trying to.
  3. Just started putting it up yesterday. Should get around 13/14 cube in it when I'm done. Probably have to build another of a similar size at some point as I've got about 30 cube all together. I'm only small scale so it's no big engineering feat I'm afraid! Some of my stockpile next to the shelter I'll update this thread when I get the roof on and felted. And once I get it full of wood.
  4. Can only dream of having a set up like the one in the original post!
  5. I started to make one but on a larger scale. It works ok for smaller things but I've given up on it for mine and now just have some large pallets down for the floor raised up on bricks and I'm building it out of timber frames properly as I was struggling with the stability! This link may or may not help you, I found it good for ideas. Building a Wood Shed from recycled wooden pallets Lots of different types of sheds and shelters have been made out of pallets in that link if you scroll down the page.
  6. Thanks for that! I've ordered some bags to try out. Didn't fancy spending £225+ VAT on the proper bagging device though, it seems a rip off for what it is. Also seen another home made bagging device now in another thread so 2 ways to try out.
  7. That 560 looks awesome! One question... why do you only cut small slivers that aren't much good for anything? Might as well cut log lengths and at least they can be used/sold?
  8. Are the log bags easy to load just by throwing them in by hand?
  9. Turns out there is no oil output adjustment on the Husky 440e, I seem to remember being told that on here when I had a previous problem with the saw come to think of it.
  10. That's an 18inch bar on the saw for scale
  11. Had any luck? I tried to sell an Oak trunk of a similar size, possibly bigger diameter to a local sawmill. He didn't sound keen when I told him he couldn't just drive up to it with his lorry and pick it up with it being down a track and up a field. He didn't ring me back. So it's going to have to go for firewood now.
  12. How do I turn up the oiler output? I'll give the WD40 a try too. Cheers.
  13. Yes been putting it in the side of the bar at the grease point, not in the groove I've never greased the bar before but I recently fitted a new bar and found that the sprocket keeps clogging up & jamming so I was going to grease it and see if that helped?
  14. So does the Oregon one work a lot better OnFootForestry? I'll have another look at it but to me it doesn't seem very good at all. Yes agree Carlos, no grease goes where you want it to! All over my finger and none on the saw
  15. Recently bought a Husqvarna Grease Gun for greasing the bar tip and clutch bearing as pictured below I can't for the life of me work out how to use it! The only moving part on it is a cap inside that I thought I perhaps had to push down to force the grease out but all that happens is that the grease comes up round your thumb and not out the end? What I originally thought would happen is you place the metal tip inside the bar then push down on the whole unit but that doesn't move so can't be right either. There was no packaging or instructions with it to look at either. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
  16. I'm presuming this has now been felled?
  17. I would be interested in trying some. not fussed on size. But only 10 or so. Not sure if that is any good to you.
  18. I'd go and see him face to face, same with the editor. Emails are obviously not getting anywhere so face to face is the only way forward there. The guy clearly doesn't think you have a right to earn a living out of logs and should do it at cost price for him! Plonker. The bit that would annoy me the most is the large piece of text saying if anyone wants to inspect the logs and learn where they came from that they can!
  19. I've got a Stihl moisture meter.
  20. This baffles my brain. I've never been able to work out what I can tow apart from the 750kg limit which the smaller trailer falls under but would be handy to use a larger one. Passed test after 1997. Deliver in either a Landrover Defender 90 TDI or Nissan Terrano 2.7 TDI SWB. Whats the maximum I can tow on the back assuming there's only 2 passengers and no other loading in the vehicle...? Is it 3500kg minus the weight of the vehicle & passengers?
  21. Hmmm so somewhere shaded but still with plenty of airflow. And needs to be good access for the tractor by the time winter comes so I don't end up ploughing to get them out... this logging business is never easy is it
  22. Do people rate vented bulk bags for seasoning logs then? I quite fancy trying some. Any tips? They would have to be stored outside, barns are full of straw and hay.
  23. Fence posts on those metal post mounts that have a spike on the end and you drive them in to the ground. Keeps the post out the ground.
  24. I'd like to help but all I can say is that hopefully some of the useful guys in here will have some advice! Over the 3 years how have you found your 440? Reliable?
  25. All sorted now. Picked it up yesterday afternoon. Can't remember the full list but it's had the oil pump and oil delivery pipe replaced, maybe some other parts. Main thing is that it's fixed and was done under warranty. Thanks to everyone for your help
