  1. Thank you for such a comprehensive reply. I think I will give it to an expert to sort out though as that sounds out of my skill set! Thanks again.
  2. I made up a special 25:1 mix using Stihl 2S oil (which would normally be mixed at 50:1) are you saying that the mix, with twice the oil content per litre, does not ‘burn’ differently within the engine?
  3. Thank you for the replies. However, I may have sorted it! All my Stihls run on 50:1 and I failed to notice that the cap on the TF22 clearly states in LARGE numbers “25:1” I expect running it in 50:1 has made it run lean or have I got that the wrong way round?
  4. I have a hedge trimmer with a Kawasaki TF 22 engine. It runs fine for perhaps 15 minutes then it stalls with a backfire. It then won’t start for a while then runs as normal……until it does it again. Any ideas please?
  5. I have had the five ton version for a few weeks now and it is brilliant. Did two trailer loads of logs last week and had only a couple that it wouldn't split. Neighbour brought round a very large wet oak round as a 'test'! Went straight through it. It is very safe as long as you are aware of the speed and it is SO much faster that my old hydraulic splitter. I agree with other posts that it needs to be raised but it needs to be a substantial bench as it weighs about 60kgs! Buy one!
  6. We have just discovered a new version of Viagra which we will name Viagra-007 to celebrate 50 years of James Bond.......it doesn't make you harder but it does make you Roger Moore!
  7. Thanks guys....good tip about turning it every time you sharpen the chain too. It is a great little saw - I also have a Stihl MS250 18" which is a swine to start and kicks back on the pull cord so I try to use the 009 every time! I have been wanting to buy a Stihl long reach pole pruner for ages but they are just SO MUCH money. Are they as good as I think they are going to be? There must be a danger of chopped branches falling on you etc? Might try to hire one first! Thanks again for the quick replies. John
  8. Hi Guys - I'm a newbie so go gently please! Does anyone have a Stihl 009 chainsaw? It was their smallest at the time and I use it often for small work. I damaged the guide and so bought a new one. When I went to fit it, there are two holes in the end of the guide - the bottom one takes the adjuster locating pin - what goes in the top one. There is a recess in the body of the saw as though there should be some sort of a pin but I don't have one and cannot remember there being one ever? Am I imagining that there was one? Any one help please? Many thanks. Great site by the way. Looking forward to reading more...... John
