  1. Hmm, thank you for an interesting and informative review. I'm yet to try a battery powered saw but your review would certainly assist anyone considering. Is there a SugiHara bar that fits as they are pretty durable? Thanks again.
  2. Sometimes, that is by far the best way and a good accountant will save you in many areas such as blood pressure and recognising areas where you can be tax efficient. I wrote my own accounts package, which has served me well for over 20 years, but in the time when I ran a Ltd company our accountant was brilliant.
  3. Not to be the chicken of the year?
  4. Exactly what manufacturers (of anything) don't want. Nowadays, their objective appears to be to get what ever you buy into the scrapheap as soon as possible so they can sell you another.
  5. Not used that one but the 1600KG 1.6 Ton ACE winch from Amazon is pretty good for the money
  6. Hi We have a 2006 2.2 Tdi X-Trail and its pretty good at everything we ask of it. Its done 265,000Kms now. Plenty of space, fuel economy seems good and 136 BHp sufficient, I would imagine they are very reasonable in UK. Some have an issue with the Intercooler but its easy to change and there are plenty of aftermarket ones.
  7. Politicians reach for the figures and make them up if they don't fit. If you drink a glass of wine, some newspapers would have you believe it was toxic. bon sante - slainte!
  8. Yes, as Mick stated - fundamentalism I pruned a friends Magnolia, it was quite large and also making its way towards power cables, so it got a fairly harsh reduction. Numerous neighbours came and gave the blank 'galic stare', the occaisional 'ooh la la' and 'il ne fleurira jamais' - it will never flower. Anyway said friend delighted with result and Magnolia has flowered profusely ever since, much to the dismay of neighbours who remain in utter disbelief and have probably not opened their shutters since. Just dump your post on Fb and block the trolls
  9. Hallo Nice work there (although I'm no pro) and good filming Noel
  10. Yes a tad heavy old school solid design, but I do love it and cut masses with mine. Radmore Tucker showing them. Think the 565 is with auto tune, but I'm out of touch with the new stuff! Does the divide cc/3 for max and cc/4 for minimum bar length in inches still apply?
  11. The 550xp II is designed to be used daily, whilst the 450 not so - I'm sure there are plenty who have cut all day long with a 450. I suspect the 450 is a clamshell design whilst the 550 has a magnesium crankcase making it more robust - for example. So if you are going to use your saw a fair bit, then the 550 may be the better route as you say you intend to cut larger wood on a regular basis. Did anyone mention a 365X-Torq if they are still available, runs a 20" bar nicely.
  12. Yes Stubbs, still available in some French dealers not sure why they are N/A in UK
  13. How about one o these? Might find a S/H one, no fancy electrics either:
  14. Hello It looks like a Villager low canopy A (we have one) although the doors lack the top and bottom vents, as noted above. On ours the doors have the Villager logo and the securing arrangement for the glass is different. There should be a circular connection for the flue at the top and the rear exit is circular on ours with a blanking plate that fits via four lugs. However yours looks thinner than ours, the lugs for the doors and the wood retainer are also slightly different and inside there are fire bricks along with a baffle to prevent flames going up the flue.
  15. 550xp from Jonsies sale or an Echo 620 if you're doing a lot over 20"
  16. Nice work there Trigger, I'm sure your nieces will love it
  17. Yes, perhaps they have not heard of the Internet: Facetime, Skype etc, although I suspect most of it is driven by the associated gravy train of expenses.
  18. hang on Spud, what about the eco luvvies that jet half way round the world to preach from the pulpit of a pink boat?<\sarcasm>
  19. Just get your saw from a reputable dealer like FR Jones Stihl MS 500i chainsaw (79.2cc) – FR Jones and Son Ltd WWW.FRJONESANDSON.CO.UK First ever chainsaw with Stihl Injection Technology. The best power-to-weight ratio on the market, and the simplest...
  20. How to get to Birmingham 10 minutes quicker? Increase the speed limit to 80 mph. I'll pop my consultancy cheque, for saving 90 billion quid in tomorrows post Boris.
  21. That sounds feasible and Stihl should have been more open about it. Yes, the bearing just needs tiny amount of grease as it ends up in the drum.
  22. Stubbs, was it not the clutch bearing failing because it was either not greased on assembly or overgreased ? As I understand, over greasing can cause the bearing to skate around the surface whilst the rollers remain stationary. Anyway, what ever it was resulted in a scored and sometimes oval crank as a result.
  23. Hi RobD is showing a 32" sugi bar with spacer on chainsawbars.co.uk, might be OK if you took it easy with a skip chain, as Eric said double cut is risky if the tree has rotted.
  24. Sorry to hear that Eggs, hope they were insured.
