Its physics really . You could in reality but efficiency would be lost . Imagine a small 35cc saw with a carving bar running .404 full chisel square ground chain ...then imagine a 120cc saw with .043 gauge narrow kirf lowpro chain . ......

At the end of the day , how will this be policed ? If people carry on as before and don't have an accident ( as they never have before ) what is to stop small firms ( one climber and one or two groundies ) carrying on as they have ? I am talking domestic work here . -

Good letter . However I would not include the bit were you say "many others will just will flout the new guidance leading to a race to the bottom in terms of work safety " . This pre supposes the very thing you are trying to preserve is , in fact , not safe . -

I felled a mature one in my dads garden and just left the stump ( probably 2ft dia at the ground . ) . This was 3 years ago or less . The stump coppiced and it is now up were yours are now so I would not be worried about loosing a limb or part of one . -
I think a bone nut and bridge give more sustain particularly on an acoustic .

I sometimes recon they think they are being shrewd but ...One lovely old boy who was a personal friend of mine ( sadly passed away recently ) had one of the laborers use up a few boxes of stick weld on a sub soiler/plough thingey then angle grind them back , and the best part of a day doing it , ( Sussex flint ) rather than going down to Goodrows and buying some new shear blades and bolting them on . ( down time would be 20 mins or so ....)
