I think you have answered it already ...no compression . Were you using old fuel ? You could take the muffler off and have a gander at the piston . You could have had an air leak from any number of places . Did it rev up higher than you remember as normal from last time you used it ? Stale fuel can cause it to nip up as will an air leak as it will be running lean and faster therefore hotter with less lube . Look at the piston .

My steel stove is still warm in the morning . You can put your hand on the top but still warm . Remove some of the ash and there are the glowing embers . Bit of kindling and away it goes again . -
Perhaps it cuts better with 3/8ths then ?

As lux says same capacity same power output . Different running gear . Some differences in the plastics ( taller air box cover etc ) but all interchangeable . Here is my 560 with 562 plastics .
