I think a lot of things changed after Micheal Ryan went bonkers in Hungerford in 1987 . I could be wrong but this lead to the withdrawal of any hand guns and auto rifles and I think the " crimping " of auto and pump shot guns so that you could only load with 3 shells instead of 5 .

There is shed loads of weight up there , If you make one part of the supporting weight less robust than the other part its going to squash down . Your best bet is to google " Soft Dutchman " on you tube .

no I have not ....oh I did have one a long time ago but it was not like these modern ones . Had Windsor and canon as well .

The main thing is the series of cuts blow the hinge on the side you want thee wood to collapse slightly making the tree pivot around before it tips to the deck .

I like the Sugihara light weight pro bars . Very hard . Don't need dressing so often .

I tried a " soft dutch man " on a tree that it would not matter were it went . It kinda worked . It made it swing around a few degrees ( supposedly 180 degrees ) before it fell to miss an imaginary target .

They had to prosecute themselves a few years back . Again a clearfell . No licence or even a good morning !

Since we spoke last week , or the week before Steve its been fine for several days , then yesterday it went all slow then timed out again . All seems fine again now though .

salt won't make them rot down any quicker . just stops thing growing . I killed a patch of nettles that grew up round a style that I made . Sprinkled dish washer salt for 2 seasons then they never came back . -
