  5. evening gents so secound post on here , more saw advice please so ive had a good think about bar size & looking for 18-20 " ive looked at the makita but it only goes up too 18" so i mainly use it for logging up old dead trees in the winter months i have a couple of burners too feed , so really its just for hobby use , i try & avoid softwoods & mainly cut up hardwoods but as said i,m a tradesman & would rather buy once not twice but cheap ,like all my tools i like nice kit that will last for years & get parts easy for it. years ago i bought 2x sthill saws ms 180 & ms 170 , these have done me well , so i,m also thinking secound hand ? been looking at husqvarna 560xp or the 562 xp there both secound hand & Husqvarna 572XPG thats brand new but comes with good reviews ? so i guess im really asking you all what saws would you recomend & secound hand or brand new ? thanks guys much appicated
  6. thanks for all your replies lads , im not as keen on the makita , i,m a tradesman & used to be a makita man till the end ,however over last few years ive been disapointed with there construction products ,hence ive moved over too dewalt ,perhaps i should up the budget & go sthill or husa to be fair my ms 180s have served me well & they we both secound hand !
  7. thanks echo yes i know what your saying there a very powerful saw , i work with machinery every day , but not chainsaws , i will be treating it with the respect it deserves, thankyou for the heads up mate
  8. paddy what saw would you be looking at for this bar ?
  9. hi steve thank you ive not really measured up any trunks but id say roughly 3-4ft in diameter , my ms 180 has not got enought guts& not long enough bar as for budget £400 - £600 ,
  10. hi guys just joined your great site ,seems theres plently of great info ,& nice people on here so i,m after some advice please , ive owned chain saws for years now as i have a couple of logburners i bought them 2nd hand off ebay (sthill ms180) theyre been good but getting old & start bogging down from time too time i,m thinking i could do with a bigger saw as id like too start ringing up some larger oak trees trunks that have fallen over in my local patch so im after new saw recomdations please id like something with plenty of guts ,& light as possible, not really intrested in battery would rather a petrol so what you all using ? big thanks pete ?
