    I'm sorry but with a few exceptions this is inappropriate. As some one who subcontracts this should be delt with in private. The issues of wether or not you should be using a hand tool over a chain saw has been entirely weighted in your favour. That is the only point appropriate for public discussion. The rest should remain between you and the primary contractor.

    What ever is the best value for the job at that time. Have Husky saws, sthil pole pruner and clearing saw.

    My dog is either with me or the missus when we're at work. Harvesting sites, community parks or the office. If there's something she doesn't like she goes back to the van and waits. If I'm felling she sits near by till the tree is down then she's off again. I'm lucky but I don't do any domestic work. I'd say that's a very different situation!

    I did a similar job for the FC this summer. We used silkys and loppers. No need for GML.

    So Lycetts were £70 dearer than trust at £848. A whopping £1000 cheaper than my old brokers quote!

    Not long ago done my cs32 which now includes this. The main reason was to remove material that the bar won't reach using a regular medium tree cut. Other benefits were removing tension if high value timber and preventing splitting, checking for rot aswell. If there is rot then the hinge should be thicker and leave buttresses at the rear of the tree. Dimensions were, I think. Leave a min of 15 cm either side and 20% hinge thickness. Also a nick either side of the hinge to prevent tearing

    I'd also jump on the 346 wagon, don't worry about wether it's felling or cross cutting. It's light! Plenty of guts and due to the intro of the 550 a bargain! Get a heated handle even if it's only for one day a year it's worth it. The heat will help dry your gloves if handling wet wood.

    My turnover for my first full year is £35k, nothing huge, I'm predicting £45 for next year so nothing scary. I'll try AR and Trust tomorrow.

    Any one have any advice on this? I'm getting quotes around £1200 for 2 folks with upto 25% saw work. not including Pli and equiptmet. Via a broker under written with Chaucer. Any suggestions gratefully received! Alex

    No it won't..... I have this thing called a car, it takes me to places that people can only dream of..... For instance, just done a cs35 assessment in Keswick, but can you Adam and Eve it I live in the east midlands........... Just incase there as an implication I want a course on my door step. LOCATION IS NOT AN ISSUE. Ttfn.

    I asked my local woodland officer and his advise was Me "I was just wondering what the bio security measures were for this? Are they the same as P.ramorum?" Fc "we are doing it for every site anyway now. unlikely to impact on spread of Chalara though as spores only viable for 48hrs ish so only a problem after june to oct? my advice is clean kit when coming off any site just in case..." thanks,
