  3. no. just those then bush wacking out the front
  4. two of the beauties I had the pleasure of doing maintenance on today beech and veteran sweet chestnut respectively.
  5. exudates on veteran sweet chestnut
  6. yes. you will need to re proof it as washing it takes all its waterproofness away. I use the nikwax stuff you put in the washing machine.
  7. looks like some kind of canker
  8. the kiwi i work with is buying all his saws here before he goes home. his brother works at a stihl shop in NZ and can get them at cost there but its still way cheaper to buy here and ship.... for real.
  9. You can use it for anything i just prefer a vt for tight messy situations (holly etc) or when im in a flat crown (willow/cedar) every thing else is SJ.
  10. I heard it was to stop all the aussies and kiwis ordering them cheap from here as they are proper expensive down under and the distro there was gettin peeved
  11. Missed them. In my defense I was getting it in the neck at that point for looking at fung and not playing with the kids!

love mine. The self tending makes an easy job of tackling big leggy stuff. Still use a HC for small/scraggy stuff as the SJ isnt suited for that. I do a lot of maintenance on big london planes and it has definitely made climbing them easier and more enjoyable. A friction saver and thin line are essential to get the most out of it so it can get expensive!!!!
  13. I thought it was an endophite so surely every single London plane has it potentially?
  14. Spready willow from today...im wet!
  15. Looks chunky. Have fun getting that through a pinto:)
  16. in the small field north end of main bit of heath by antenna
  17. im the same size as you and im a large. Get the aluminium ones they are adjustable more durable and cheaper and dont weigh much more. My carbons are getting pretty worn on the bottom now!
  18. Saw these on the heath today large red/brown toadstools 5/6in dia @ 8m on fraxinus. Any ideas?? Sorry for crap photo.
  19. Another Podoscytha on aesculus
  20. Mine is coming close to retirement after 2 hard years. I reproof it but the shoulder seams still let a bit through and all the refective strips are falling off. The only thing I don't like about it is its baggy round the waist which lets the wind in. Good for the price but think im gonna opt for a cut n climb when it finally dies
  21. Went all over my gloves, gave them a quick wipe and they were still good as new. They are a lot stickier than the pfanner ones I usually use.
  22. What gloves do you use?? Was using towa power grip today in the rain when my oil cap came undone
  23. We have had sooooo many calls. Heres the big one from yesterday. First pic is of a turkey oak. The second is the nice silver lime that the oak took out
  24. how is it on your hands???
  25. blue tongue is the same as poison ivy apparently which i find too supple and not stiff enough. I have found tachyon to be the best, the teufelberger version is thinner and works better but is harder on your hands. Velocity is supposed to be very good but i havnt tried it. basically the thinner and stiffer the rope the better the performance.
