  1. My guess is it's a 3/8 chain. 3/8 = .375" = 9.525mm If it was a .3252 the measurement should be 8.255. how many drive links?
  2. Don't suppose you've run into Chris Griffin the shearer have you? Used to do a bit of work with him down there

    Bench help

Am in the process of making a curved bench but am a little stuck on how to fix the top onto the legs. The bench top is 3" thick and I want to fix it onto larch legs which I will have to concrete into the ground. (Will be sited on top of a hill overlooking a loch so will have to withstand cattle, sheep and deer) Bench top is similar to this Want to fix it to legs like this (but 3 of them of course) What's the best fixings to use? Was considering 200mm index screws or coach screws hidden under a plug. Any thoughts welcome.

  5. Have a look at the Isle of Mull, we came here on holiday a few times then just had to move up here. If you're looking for somewhere special for a couple of nights this hotel is just up the road from me. Blower advise

Just a quick update. I looked long and hard at getting a new one but as I said in my original post the nature of my work means this will just be an occasional tool. Ebay ones seemed one the whole to be going for stupid money, wasn't going to pay nearly new price for a secondhand machine, in the end a BG55 came up for £70 plus a reasonable postage so I went for it. stihl bg 55 leaf blower | eBay Postie got it to me yesterday lunchtime and it saved me 1/2 hours clearup time on the job I was doing.
  8. What about the wetsuit one, got to be the best ever. Ended up selling a used wetsuit for £8999 (most went to charity) XCEL 3-2mm Infiniti Drylock Summer Wetsuit Medium USED | eBay
  9. Ha Ha What you can't see with the left one is the rope tied between the seat and the toolbox which stops the wing falling outwards Thinking of using mussel farm floats cut up for the wings when they do eventually give up. as for the bonnet and electrics working - well they sort of do. Got 3 or 4 days hauling and splitting in the next few weeks, they want their woodshed filled before winter! Told them it was a bit late and it won't be seasoned but they still want it done.
  10. Arbtalk would be a worse place without this thread Thanks to all especially Spud
  11. :thumbup::thumbup:
  12. Just had a look myself and they are now shipping the X27 again. Odd that they had a few months of not shipping?
  13. Just me being out of touch with the prices of the 110s, thought they were worth about £4000 but just had a quick look and you're right a good one is £7000+
  14. Another idea would be to let people know where abouts you are. You never know who's reading this thread and may be looking for a brash dragger for 3 days a week
  15. To the exhaust
  16. Nice fix Spud That's the sort of cost effective fix that keeps people coming back to you!
  17. Friend has the tractor mounted version of this, excellent bit of kit. If the petrol one is as good you won't get better for the price, splits in both directions so really fast. Powerhorse 13-Tonne Towed Horizontal Log Splitter 208cc Also listed in the latest Northern Tools catalogue but strangely not on their website Also not road legal max speed 15mph so only suitable for moving around the yard etc
  18. That makes more sense
  19. Congrats mate, you must be proud
  20. With the cost of the new chassis and then 13 days to change is this not going to work out to be a VERY expensive job? Surely would have been cheaper to scrap it and put the money to a newer one.
  21. I wasn't too impressed with the fiskars sharpener, gone back to using a sharpening stone
  22. Thanks for the comment guys As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Only had her for a few months, was quite lucky, got her for £1000, she had been standing for a year or so and needed a little bit of tlc to get her running ok, but the tyres are 100% (still had the mouldings on them when I got it) A few things left to do, need some clips for the bonnet and a lucas alternator as she doesn't charge atm. I know I could get both online easy enough but I'm sure something will turn up locally if I look for long enough (Yes I'm tight as hell sometimes) Not sure what to do about the wings, they're so far gone it may be a case of just waiting till they fall apart completely and then replacing them with something else. P.S. Had no wiring when I got her, just 2 wires to touch together to start so I took the loom off my mates scraped international and used that, will be tidied up a bit when I get the alternator sorted
  23. All done, painless survey
  24. Hi Silky

Only just noticed this message, god knows how I missed it, so sorry for the 3 month delay in replying!

Mull's a great place, very laid back, and a great place for a holiday although if you at Brodick bay you must have been on Arran not Mull.

Not a lot of tree work here and probably a bit far for the travelling arborist:thumbup:

  25. Thought it was about time to update this thread, finally got round to taking some pictures of the finished shed. went for 6" boards with a 2" air gap in the end as I'd had some mould problems last winter with the 1" gap on my shed by the house, will just have to wait and see if I've got it right on this one. Uprights are telephone poles, the rest is home milled apart from a few of the 4x2 which I already had. 3/4's full The view looking the other way, it's a really exposed site!
