  2. This vice that my mate has bolted to his JCB bucket, jaws just bend. The pin in the picture, we did the vice up till it just held the pin then he took another 1 3/4 turns on the handle before he bottled out! He says its OK for holding the saw for sharpening but nothing more. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Can't believe they had to hunt around for someone to take it. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. For those of us using the app you probably want to say where your garden is. To give you a headstart "at the back of my house" is not the correct answer 😁 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Well done on the 5000th post mate 👍 Always a great read Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app

    Tape measure

I think that's where I'm going wrong, they tend to get covered in wet mud etc and if very lucky get a quick wipe on my sleeve or between fingers as they get chucked back in the vehicle with lots of other tools and a dog onto of them 😁 Will have a look at some of the recommendations. Tried a Stanley, it was better but not overly impressed for the extra money The fat Max look more sturdy, see they do a fatmax extreme as well. Liking the look of the stainless bacho. Tape measure

I'm seriously fed up with tape measures breaking or the numbers wearing off after a few weeks. Can anyone recommend one that will last? Ideally 8 metres and needs to be able to put up with a bit of dirt. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Or just stick some starter cord down the plug hole 😁 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app

    Home brewing

My tap water is from a burn straight off the hill so unless a deer dies and falls in its great, have heard of people using bottled water instead, your call I guess. I had the same thoughts about conditioning when I started and used to bottle rather than keg my beer so I tried a couple of bottles without sugar in, still don't understand the processes involved (and probably don't need to) but suffice to say I will always add sugar in future. 10. Thinking about it you're right, they are a good idea. There's really no need to undo nuts etc to tighten a chain as a system like this one should be able to work perfectly. However... Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app

  12. Had my first experience of these last week on a 450, flipped up the handle thingy and it popped off in my hand. Took it back to the owners shed and got my 254 out of the car. Job sorted 👍 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Quite possibly so was the Sinclair C5, doesn't mean it was a good invention though 😁 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. Not a tool but any flat head screw. Throw em away and use a crosshead Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. It just gets better and better 👍👍 A little dark on my 7" screen but it must look really impressive at 20x30 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. That sounds so familiar along with " come and see what I've built" cos I know I'm going to have to rebuild it 😬 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. What's the problem with someone going round selling saws from a van? They come round this way as well, but I don't see the problem as long as they aren't labeled stihl, husky, echo etc Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app

    Home brewing

For beer nothing at all, just room temperature is enough. In the photo above the 2 bucket looking things are fermenting bins, no heat and it works fine. Also note no airlocks on the lids, just sit them on loosely. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. And I thought it was so that when you caught one with an old Lister bale elevator you could get at least 10 Meyers before it stalled the tractor. Obviously this has never happened to me 😮 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app

    Home brewing

Dry hopping is putting muslin bag of hops in the fermenting bin whilst its fermenting to give the beer a slightly hoppier flavour. I think I used about 40g of hops in the wherry. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app

    Home brewing

Here's my brewing station (all very homemade) Started about a year ago and saving heaps. Wherry is what I started with, seems a reliable kit, in fact one of these is a wherry but I dry hopped it to give it a wee bit extra. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Beautiful day here, been lovely all week. Typical I've been working indoors since Tuesday Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. Just to quickly answer your 3 question, sure someone else will be along with more detail. 1. Use chain oil, doesn't have to be stihl, but make sure its chain oil. 2. The oil pick up tube is weighted on the end so will fall to the bottom of the tank no matter which way up the saw is held. 3. It is REALLY important to use a good quality 2 stroke oil, I would suggest that if you have been using stihl that you are best to stay with that. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Arbtalk mobile app
