  1. like bolam siad. just takes longer. Its a moral thing as much as anything. make sure you get a decent jacket etc and do ya best.
  2. God damn it. My old lap top took about a week to boot up- apparently two of the glow plugs had packed up and no3 injector was on the blink- all obsolete. So i bought a new lap top to streamline my business opperations, most importantly the invoicing. Paid for a years subscription to office 365, when i come to 'my account' page, which i download it from, it doesnt load properly. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! contacting microsoft is a trick in its self. Randomly had some assistant thing pop up. they told me to close everything and clear cookies and cache and try again.. Guess what... FECK ALL CHANGED!!! Rant over
  3. Another vote here for the clark cut and farm jacket
  4. As per title Need a groundie or climber this coming week- (7th and 8th October). Based TA23 0LG. Please ring Mark: (zero)769 (zero)23 182 or Email [email protected] Thanks
  5. A lot of the funding has been cut for the additional certificates. when i went and done my level 3 arb course the college would pay for two assessments, 30 and 38. The previous year the college would pay for a many as you could book yourself on to. I was very impressed with the lectures at cannington college but i was not on an apprenticeship
  6. I have had the harkie smock before. Good when i first got it, if a little warm, but definitely tuff. Didnt stay waterproof for long. Replaced with the cut n climb jacket, had it a couple of months now but havent had a decent downpour to test it but it fits well and seems fairly tough but light weight
  7. At ease soldier
  8. Swings and round abouts. not used one of these letter box style sub 750's yet but the design sounds perfect. the only time i want more than 6 inch is when there is a union on a 4 inch branch- anything else is logs. Got my b+e but having a lightweight chipper is easier for the truck to pull and easier for me to move myself. Not the be all and end all but something i take in to consideration
  9. Thats what i am going from (the isuzu tf, 52 plate and was on 89k when i got it last dec). was pretty gutless and the worst thing was that i could not get patern parts for it, had to go to main dealers all the time.
  10. Finding one under 200k seems to be an issue
  11. They all seem to have clocked more miles than the starship enterprise!
  12. Hello boys and girls. I am after a 4x4 double cab pickup. Wanting one under 4500 and hoping for it to be cosmetically and mechanically sound as well as having under 100k on the clock. willing to travel- off the hills of exmoor- for the right vehicle. Anyone got any thing that matches that description? [email protected] or pm on here Thanks
  13. I sometimes sub into local companies as a groundy. 9/10 I am the first person there, waiting at the yard gate for it to be unlocked. In my opinion being prompt is one of the most important things. turning up on time in clean and tidy gear. Hopefully this creates a good impression, and they will use you more- espesially as I leave the other groundies standing!!
  14. As with most people on here, i am sure, you have had the worst at both ends of the rigging line. the climber that just gets up in the crown and just starts raining stuff down in all directions leaving an impenetrable gorillas nest on the ground. To the groundy that fills the fuel up with oil, incable of mastering the stihl caps and hasnt tied the saw on properly resulting in a free fall, which is both life threatening to them as well as your saw! Patience and good communication. Although i think some groundies just need to learn that the climber comes first- i.e dont stand in the drop zone trying to ring up a piece of timber while the climber has the top handle running and waiting- either roll it out of the way and do it or wait! And as said before just keep an eye on the climber whenever possible
  15. sweep? I find a good chimney fire usually clears it out
  16. Not sure where you are based this Richard zero7866five21348) at exmoor atvs has some cracking bikes that would come in under your budget. A real nice chap and makes sure they are all tip top before they leave, suspension bushes, bearings etc (if needed). Mainly deals in used hondas but can source other makes as well
  17. This a slightly alternative thread on pick ups. Didn't seem to be many people chipping in with different makes of truck and mostly nav all the way. I have a friend who has a 08 one and he abuses the hell out of it and it just soldiers on. His friends one eats clutches for a past time. As said they are comfortable to drive but not sure on their off roading abilities. But good luck to the OP on his new purchase and hope it works well. I just hate buying motors as you can end up with a right lemon as i did with my older 52 isuzu- i think that was more down to neglect by the previous owner.. A lot of the parts were only available from the main dealer (expensive). the turbo went after a month of me owning it- Isuzu were only showing 2 in stock and i had to wait three weeks for it as it came from another continent.
  18. How can some thing, like ordering a part, be so damn difficult. I wish i had a more reasonable dealer closer to me- for stihl. My local husky dealer has always got parts within 3 days if he doesn't already have it on the shelf, the way it should be!
  19. Well i just phoned Honey Bros who were happy to pick it up, so no costs are incured by myself. But not so good is that they recon they are all the same can this be the case? I have used flying capstans, GCRS, Hobbs etc and none of these had any imperfections on the surface . They were all silky smooth! Does any body else have a stein bollard with a ruff surface?
  20. I only opened up the package this eve so havent had a chance to phone them. I am sure they will be very agreeable, if not I have a can of whooopass to unleash. But it is not really h bro's fault but steins quality control. As it was a sealed box. But not happy and certainly not willing to run a rope round it
  21. I just had an order arrive today, super fast delivery, from honey brothers Opened the box and had a look at a stein rc2001 that i had ordered and the bollard part is not quite as smooth as i had hoped for. Too be honest i would rather wrap the rope around the tree for friction, would probably cause less damage! It is either spatter from the welding or grindings that have got on there before it was galvanised. Very disappointed and annoyed, not with honies as i am sure they will replace it hassle free, because i am now going to have to post it back and end up out of pocket on the postage and more importantly not get to play with my new goodies. What ever happened to quality control!?!?!?
  22. I do agree. You should have checked it out prior to bidding. Slacken off the belt tensioner so you can feel for play in the front bearing.
  23. Hi all looking for some input here. I have a job coming up so need to get some rigging gear. I was intending to get a stein rc 2000 but now thinking of getting a tree runner p500 - used to use a gcrs on regular basis and prefer the idea of a non floating device. Looking at ropes as well, something not too expensive but something that will last maybe 14mm in diameter. And probably an isc cast pulky block. Any recomendations on rope. Or experiences with the tree runner?
  24. try my local stihl dealer. the boss wont sign the cheques so their account gets put on stop regular. we took a tanaka hedge trimmer in there, on behalf of a local authority i do a bit for, that was 12 weeks ago. Comes up with a different excuse everytime we go in! kept telling us he was waiting on an order from tanaka, then their is a big shortage on parts then tanaka have stopped making that particular part. Luckily i spoke with one of the other chaps in their who told me staight that the account was on stop. Same problems when i ordered up a load of stihl parts. Varying stories even one about stihl having a massive fire in there wearhouse so no parts available!! so i went to my next local dealer in bridgwater who got me the parts the next day!!
  25. Feel elaborate
