  1. I'd be offering £15-£20 p/ton for the ash standing. The way i look at it is it costs in the region of £15 p/ton to fell, convert and extract to roadside assuming it's a reasonable distance to extract. The longer the drag and the twistier the timber ie oak+beach the longer it takes to get it roadside which drives the price per ton up to produce. Subtract this from your roadside target price and you have your standing price. I'm not saying this is how others do the sums or how you should do the sums but it is how i do it
  2. Beat me to it. If i can't use the 200t i use the igland

    what 4x4

Nice to see the op's thread who's looking for a 4x4 pickup for under £2.5k has turned into the LR apprieciation thread again hahaha How many RR sports can you get for £2.5k?
  4. The 4.5 d4d manual with tipper body is somewhat sexual and 1300kg is about 4ish m3 with some decent springs on i bet you could fill it to the nines and it wouldn't even blink and whats more if you had barn doors on the back nobody would be none the wiser. I know a builder with a ford f150 and we went to the tip with some rubble and hardcore on the back and it had near 2 tonne on it and the springs hardly moved an inch!
  5. Yes and a os grid reference along with highlighted ajoining access for a transit with hiab!! But serious note i was told about geo tagging on i phones. Apparently if you don't go into the setting and turn it off when you take a pic it tags it with a gps grid reference that the wrong people can some how read and get a pin point position of where the pic was taken. Now i know this won't be breaking news to some but me not being a techno whiz was quite amazed by it. So have a look into it before go taking pics and posting.
  6. I love that too!! Big 6 with chunky rear tyres!! Looks like a Boughton going by the ground anchor.
  7. Everyones entitled to an opinion apart from when it comes to MF 390's  They really are billy basic workhorses and within reason they will do the job just as well as any other similar sized/powered tractor. I personally don't think they deserve the title crappy but i sometimes have to ask the chap stood next to me if i heard the sale price right when at auctions:001_smile:
  8. I have a 96 single cab with 180k on the clock and it's in for a head gasket. I've fiddled with the pump and turbo and have a homebrew propane injection and it's a beast. was going to get rid of the old girl instead of doing the head but i aquired a well sorted defender 90 (which is forsale on arbtrader) and after a week or two i just want my l200 back!!!!! I will be investing in a propper suspension, wheel and tyre setup though. Some hate them some love them, mine grafts and that'll do for me
  9. As a shredder it was ok yeah anything upto 1.5" fine. Chipping forget it.
  10. Thats arb waste not cord
  11. As it says looking for processor sized hard and softwood cord and i'm based in Lancashire. Possibly arrange collection but if you can offer a price roadside and hauled that would be great. Please PM me or call me on 07702788870
  12. Utter rubbish don't buy one!! I ended up getting a tw150 then px for a jensen 530 and ive just bought a camon c250 for smaller domestic jobs. If it dosn't have a feed roller stay clear. Because your just compramising from the start.
  13. This just my opinion and i'm sure many will tell im wronge but you need to have your own work. Your not going to make a do subbing to the trade at £180-£250 a day. Work will be sporadic, milage will be high and when the bearings in your chipper need replacing you prob wont have the money put by to pay for it. The big problem with the OP's plan is he seems set and a tw125 which is no doubt a good machine but will not outchip a 6" diesel chipper if it has been maintained with sharp knifes. Most tree firms already have similar sized if not bigger road tow chippers already so he's only going to be working for people who don't have a chipper or have had a breakdown or want to put a subby team out to cover more work. I run a 4x4 and tracked chipper so i generally get work where people cant get with a road tow. Subby work for me is nice additional income if i'm quiet i couldn't do it soley as a living.
  14. I know what your saying Ste but would you pay £400 a day for a man and a chipper??
  15. Hahaha my dear god the turbo must have looked like a little meteor under the bonnet You must have had a taller final drive than mine cos it wouldn't have done 80 down a mine shaft haha but it would pull pretty much anything!!
  16. U90/100's have sprinter engine u140's have a 4.0l engine i think? Maybe wrong but i'm pretty sure. I went upto Vos last weekend and they have a U100 in the yard thats in need of tlc but a good basis for a project!! That mewp/chipper combo is top bannana Does the chip schute ever block up??
  17. Forsale on Arbtrader Defender 90 ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds PM me if interested
  18. Mate i go out with a a530t jensen for £225-£250 per day depending on milage but i have nptc 30,31,38,39 with all my own tackle and i don't mind climbing for that either. £350 per day is Mog+10-12" chipper region. There are guy's that go out for £180 a day with tranny and 6" timberwolfs on this forum!!
  19. I borrowed the spaltfix 280 from the folks to process about 75t of arbwaste. I parked it in the corner of the yard after 10t and went back to the splitter!! I amit i did chuck the longer straighter bits to one side and rattled through them at the end. I don't think you will ever get away from a decent splitter when dealing with arbwaste.
  20. Your the second person that i've heard say this too. I also asked a traffic cop and he said the same. I spoke to vosa at kirkham and they said quite frankly they can't enforce it. He said if it went to court you would walk. Something to do with train weight when empty partially loaded being under and fully loaded being over so there would be no continuity. Tacho's in transits etc is just silliness.
  21. I think you need to get something a bit more upto towing bud because putting a ton and a half behind a caddy isn't going to be fun!! Maybe look into a transit or similar either a tipper or dropside/flat depending on if your selling loose or in bags.
  22. ^^^^^^^^Now that is a smart arb setup!! I like that i do^^^^^^^^ Did you extend the drawbar or does it suffer fouling and how much does does it affect the turning circle?
  23. Don't get a jinmy, vitara or a sportrak they will not pull themselves out of bed!!!! Fourtrak's are solid and simple but 55mph is your lot. Troopers rot but have stonking engines and good tow capacity. I'd be looking at a disco too due to the fact that as treequip says your gonna be getting your hands dirty and landrovers are akin to lego tecknic to work on and you will find help and support/pic allover the web.
  24. I've got a l200 with a chipbox which holds 3.5m3 and although it has the payload as pointed out it is overloaded on the back axle. It handles like a drunken hippo when loaded, the body rubs and i could go on and on. I was going to have a tipper body put on it this winter but it's in the garage having the head done this week forcing me to have a rethink. The only real option is a single cab 130 hicap really because they have the wheelbase to spread the load and thats why they call them 4x4 transits. I'm thinking about getting another transit cos i miss the cab room Anyway the only real 4x4 tipping pickup is a u900 haha
  25. That is a first class bit of engineering
