  1. Id set a modest budget and buy the best van chipper you can afford whilst still in employment or subbing and wait until you have enough work to go it alone full time. At the end of the day ive made good money with a l200 and a tranny tipper and a camon 250.
  2. Is the ecocombi tmp150 just a pto eco 150? It only weighs 490kg thought it might go well on the front of my u900? Sorry for the derail
  3. Yeah it lived around the corner from me after huck sold it. But it wad orange then.
  4. Im running my 550 on super unleaded and the highest grade husqy oil just incase I do have any issues. I dont want to give them a chance to question the warranty.
  5. I toyed with the idea of a rb but joined the mog club instead. They are solid buses like with a bomb proof perkins lump to tow that 2.5t. The thing that put me off was the lack of parts and the fact nobody will recon the brake servo and you cant buy them off the shelf anymore. They are a mans truck all pickups should be them.
  6. Depends if its ag reg or hgv reg. But there are loads of threads on it if you search. Lots of mixed opinions and thought of as a grey area.
  7. Everyone that uses my 550xp always says "its got some power for a little saw" and it surprises me still too. I really love that little saw its great!
  8. The thing I love the most about my mog is I can conform to traffic flow most of the time which is nice coming from a tractor. But it does have its limits I cant tow the same weights I could before and hitching up is a ball ache on your own too but I love the fact I can rock up on a job with a very manuverable unit that is self contained and holds a decent amount of chip legally and when done I can pop off to the chip site and unload very quickly without unhooking chippers and such like. I do want to go front mount chipper so I can tow a small tipper with hiab which will allow me move chip and timber in one. Again its about dealing with brash and timber efficiently. I know I can do bigger or more jobs in the same time frame now because of time saved.
  9. I was talking to a fitter that subbies for vos doing mobile servicing and if you have the brass the u300/400 are coming cheaper and upto yet no major headaches just service parts and the big engine spec is upwards of 250hp. South cave have 2 high spec u400's But it depends on budget I suppose.
  10. Bloody hell if that had of turned up at my yard with a weigh ticket of over 20t id of been asking questions I cant believe im ten ton out!!! I really wanted that jockey wheel too!!
  11. Im a new mog owner and have a straight u900 and tp chipper ive already spent about 3k on it in 3 months on repairs and maintence. I spent about 11k on my setup and I its not a rusty old nail its tidy. I think mog ownership is expensive but its versatile and you need to make that pay! If you want a mog to sit in a yard all week I wouldnt bother.
  12. Ive got a tp760 (older tp200) and it dosnt stand me at much but it has gremlins at the moment. But the whole front mount idea is because I want a mini skyhuck setup ie chipper and a trailer. I have been looking at larger bio mass combo trailer idea. I once saw a 12" kwick chip turn table. Mount a hiab on the drawbar and the chipper behind then have a stubby silage style box behind that.
  13. Guys your right! Ive just taken the rose coloured glasses off Deep down I know it will be crap!! Ill keep my eye out for a pto one.
  14. It was more a case of buying that chipper if you know what I mean. I thought if it works well then its a good price. Putting a pump and a tank on is no more difficult than a prop shaft and bearing carrier.
  15. Ive seen that 7" ducker on Prices website and I was thinking it might go well on the front of the u900. There are two worries I have, the first being that i've seen a vid of a greenmech tmp150 thats hydraulically driven and it looked cack to say the least and my second worry is that that model dosnt have a blower so would I spend all day unblocking it. Currently I dont have a front pto shaft fitted but the box does have provision for one. Could I possible run a bigger pump off the front pto to give more grunt to the chipper?
  16. Ill have a crack!! I want that jocky wheel !!! short bollsters on a flat trailer loads of air gaps in the timber I reckon ther is nowhere near as much as you think. 12.8t I reckon!
  17. I sorted the roller issues out before christmas. It was the as Stevie said the roller compartment was blocked up with crud causing drag on the motor. I had a few other gremlins to sort with setting up the spool block but it got sorted and was working great untill!! Slowly it got more and more sluggish then the pump packed up I was thinking about piping the spool upto the mog hydraulics as a put me on till I get the new pump. Do you think the mog will run the rollers ok?
  18. L200 1996 180k and needs prayed to daily but I can't bring myself to get rid!!
  19. I have a 550xp with a 18" bar and its spot on!! The fact that the 550xp cut and runs unlike any 50cc saw ive ever seen. The auto tune does the trick I think. I would throw the husqvarna chain away though because its gash!!
  20. I think we all need to be careful before we go changing this law and that law because at the end of the few on here are farmers and even fewer realise how little profit there is in the farming industry. Calling for tractors however big to need hgv license or o license etc is just making the job not worth going in my opinion. If speeds such an issue just put speed limiters on like wagons! As for Using wagons in fields thats ok in some situations but not all.
  21. Like others have said its the air flow that does it and if the vents arn't open or a extractor fan your gonna get mold. It's also worth thinking about contamination ie broken panel and glass in the wood. Polly tunnels are where it's at
  22. I like that plant trailer!! I'm finding it hard work finding something to put behind my u900. I put about 4tonne of timber in a single axle tipper and it was horrible!! I'm currently getting a spare pump fitted with 9mm plungers and setup by the pump engineers that do vos and prices. Hoping for about 130hp but will put it on a pto dyno and show the results on here.
  23. No I meant I would price parts and check availability with parts. I like to know worst case scenario of price and down time before so when I do exhaust all self help options there is no messing about I get them ordered and book a hire chipper so I can keep working. I suffered quite bad down time with my pto box issue on the mog and cant afford another week wasted splitting logs and cleaning worshop etc etc. Im a professional Lancastrian I prefer to spent brass buttons before real money
  24. No leaks at all and the oil/filters havn't had chance to get dirty. It also spins at full chat when not under load. I think it's the valve block but like you Matt i think if i put it into my local hydraulic engineer he will do the same clean the valve block give me a bill and in a week will be back to square one. Another chap had similar experience with a jensen. Best get onto Vos and see how much more cash i need to give them
