  1. I'll sell you one only it would cost about a fifth of it's value to ship all tway down theer!
  2. I understand what your saying Chris. Out of interest on a site where you would use small equipment do you work off day rate or £/tonne extracted and what's the most you have extracted with the alpine in a day and how far was it to landing/roadside.
  3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wZhwfftoU4]Automatische Trommelsäge SAT 4-700 - YouTube[/ame] This is it
  4. Actually i was at a show briefly on the weekend and a local tree firm had a stand with their new processor on show. It was a drum circular saw, had about 6 holes like a revolver and you load the billets in and it spins around and as the pass the blade it drops out the back onto a convayer. I'll have a dig for a video but i don't think its as good as the posch autocut
  5. I went and had a look. Under powered was the word of the day unfortunatly. Struggled to maintain 40mph up any slope no matter how small. It would be ok if it was in low box in the woods all it's days but i couldn't imagine loading it up with chip or putting anything behind it. The thing was it was minted aswell not an old dog that's been kained all it's life. The 4 cylinder was put in the d507 merc van too and came in turbo form which would be similar to a 900 mb trac i would of thought.
  6. You would be hard pushed to do 50 m3 per day with an alstor or an alpine unless you where moving it a spitting distance i'd say. Be better off with a county or a decent tractor and a 4/5 tonne winch/blade setup. But skidding is messy, dirty on timber. A 6t timber trailer behind a decent 4wd tractor will get most places. In my opinion and i know i'll get shot down as i usually do!! alstor's and alpines are for sssi and sensitive areas when the price to do the job is heavily subsidised in order to preserve the ecology and is not down to production and profit margins. Like someone has already pointed out smaller dosn't mean cheaper.
  7. Aye and there are plenty of farmer's that didn't have any common sense that are up and down with bit's and bob's missing!! I know of three guys from one family who between them lost an arm and a leg and the third caught half a saw blade from an old ferguson saw bench between his teeth!! needless to say the last one isn't with us anymore!! This wheel of death scares the life out of me!! I can just imagine after about 10 cube some drongo splitting his hand in half!!
  8. I'll take the bow saw I'd punt for either a ms441 or a ms 460 can't go much wrong with either of them!!
  9. This has to be the best machine for cutting billets!! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc-zrz8cBNI[/ame]
  10. They don't weigh or have the same payload as a 406 so i suppose it's down to gearing. At the end of the day it's a tractor not a truck, i would hope it will do 40ish mph on the road untill it's loaded up that is. I have a ford 7840 for grafting i'm just interested in A. owning a mog and B. something i can use on domestic jobs that will carry/tow more than the l200 that i can also power implements off. I reckon it should turn a few heads as well. I think it would be smart if i could carry a small pto chipper on the front with a little four tonne trailer with silage sides on the back. There is a guy who does the old cannal barge sign writting/painting by hand, think it would look the nut's all vintaged up
  11. ARHH done some more digging seem to be a beefed up 411. 4.5ltr 4cylinder 65-75hp. Longer 2300mm wheel base with a 406 style cab. Basically a slightly smaller 406. Will be interesting to have a look at
  12. Hi guy's, there is chap just up the road from me with an ag spec 403 that i'm going to look at. When i search for 403's it just brings up info and specs for 406's?? Anyone had any dealings with a 403 before, are they basically the same as a 406 but older? All the pics and video's just look like a u900.
  13. Is it a standard replacment manifold or a sexy stainless joby. Also when your towing or giving it the beans do you notice it gitting hot at all.
  14. Hahaha i love them where can i get a set I'm plumbing in the propane injection in next week:thumbup1: can't see me having too much of a problem towing after that. Mind you don't have hany problem now with the pump and turbo cranked up. I've decided to get another pickup for the fleet and i've been toying with the idea of doing a disco trayback/tipper like Andy treequips starting with a 4.0ltr v8 on lpg and belly tank. I worked out that with the price difference taking into account efficiency loss of gas it would have to be doing 10mpg to equal price per mile of a td5 when working ie towing loaded up with chip.
  15. My l200 has a backyard developments stage 3 kit on it bhp???NM??? smoke LOTS CAT, frontbox, backbox (infact everything after the down pipe) removed as well as having heavy duty coil springs on the back (think they where off a defender) just to give the old leaf springs a hand:001_smile: does the job whithout issue and later on in the year it'll be having a tipper bed put on the back and a respray of the cab and chassis while the tubs off. Best part is when i bought the truck it cost me £900:001_smile::001_smile: don't get much defender for £900
  16. Best option as a single cab will have more payload also as a toolbox will weigh less than a crew cab. Single wheels usually have more payload too but dont carry asmuch in the real world as a twin wheel. A roller shutter tool box is the ticket. Measure your cab and keep your eyes peeled
  17. As in which model transit or which model tipper? if you can find a rwd reanault master tipper with the 2.5 td engine then they are a really strong bus that can carry and tow a good load(cheap too). Iveco daily's are popular but don't have any experience with them. Transit wise it depends on age or budget really. I had a crew cab smiley tipper for firewood deliveries and with 2.5 td engine they are strong but suffer from age related rot.
  18. Haha i love them skoda yeti 4x4's there like a really posh panda 4x4 lol this horsey bloke i know has one in black with tinted drug dealer windows it's got 170hp and you can chip em up to around 200hp!! get the ifor tipper behind it
  19. I conceed that one it is a valid reply I never thought about it like that! I think ill stick with the tractor and possibly run 2 pickups or another 4x4 at least on bigger domestic work.
  20. I must admit i dont break the sound barrier or anything couldn't afford to lose my license:001_smile: but it's how quick it gets there that makes me smile and to be fair 70mph feels like a 100mph after a week in the tractor:biggrin:
  21. Ok thats fine but i said i 've never known it not that it dosn't happen and i was refering to forestry/arb contractors not ag contractors and i'm also on the other side of the country from the a1. So what constructive reply are you gonna come back with now??
  22. because my family wouldn't go near a mog despite how much i blagged them growing up and they live in a part of the country where you will see more timber wagons than bus's so never needed to run their own vehicle when they could just pick the phone up. Anyway i said i've never known anyone run a tractor on a o license with a class 1 not a truck. So wind your neck in because your just posting for a reaction now.
  23. Ive been stopped countless time hauling round timber and chip never bothered me never ended up in court never had a fine. So now ive found out ive been alledgedly beem dping it all along I think ill go and get a daf gs!!
  24. Well I dont and wont be getting one as I was born into arb and commercial forestry 3rd generation and dont know anyone ever run a tractor on a o license with c+e! The thread that gets the most action in this section is the overloaded thread which is people admitting and showing pics of operating outside the law so why not pop on over there and display you disgust and leave me alone but the reason there isnt loads of fuss made over there is because 90% of tree workers if honest will admit theve been there themself at some point in their life!! So I use a vehicle which is designed to carry upto 20t on commercial axels so I dont run vehicles running round on there arse and im in the wronge because I dont have a class 1 and o license for my tractor when there are 17 yr old kids carting silage miles away from base running on cherry b and everything else that goee with it??
  25. Ohh ok my bad I should never of brought it up and then it obviously dosnt happen!!!!! Get real!!! What happened here in true arbtalk style is someone got ahold of a bone like a terrier and couldnt let go!! Because have a row or proving a point is more inportant than giving to the point info. If you dont agree then thats fine so why contribute none constructive info?? Weve all heard the points that treequip has raised time and time again in other threads even ones that wasnt to the point like mine which is why I said at the start I didnt want people going on about stuff thats been brought up time after time. Infact im that narked that I would like a mod to close the thread plz!!
