  1. These are a fair weapon Ben. 10" with tungston blades.
  2. The ford and Noddy's tractor £40p/day to hire not worth buying a compact at those prices!!
  3. I have to say Andy at Sunnybank is a top bloke and he can't half make that botex sing and dance!! Gareth
  4. Free next week bar Wed. Tractor +12tonne grain trailer for chip removal now available too
  5. There is a spree of camon c250's on eBay at the mo they would tick all your boxes and should be within the budget!
  6. Many thanks Brett it was worth it just to watch you dismantle that beech!! He was a big boy
  7. Now that would be a decent little bus!! The vw tdi's put out upto 170hp from the factory now so would tow a medium sized trailer quite happy like a 8x5 ifor tipper.
  8. The skoda and vw 4motion AWD system is a far cry from the system of a propper 4x4 but the beneift is that most of the time its fwd untill it senses wheel spin so really mpg and tyre wear should be decent. I used to have a 4motion golf and it was an amazing car!! I'd have a yeti 4x4 tdi anyday of the week!! Its a shame they don't make a comercial!!
  9. Before zee Germans get here From what you say a bi-directional alpine will fit the bill nicley!
  10. Well i know for a fact that Jenkinson's pay £6-£8 a tonne for arb chip there is someone who is on contract with quota's and he get £12/tonne. Boiler chip ie clean square chips with no greenary in it is £35/tonne and thats on contract through stobarts who are one in the same company really. But these prices are as good as they get, this guy has yards allover Lancashire and Cheshire and is moving dozens of artic loads a month. Personally bio chip isn't sustainable and is one of the reasons that the wood price has gone up so drastically in recent yrs. I was you i wouldn't entertain letting the wood go for chip!! It's a real waste. There is alway a market for saw logs and if worst comes to worst put a wood burner in with a back boiler and enjoy free heating for you and your family free of charge for life:)
  11. Come on le sanglier you should be building not posting Youn got me wanting an update haha
  12. Well like i said it's prob a 1.5m flail and it's running off close to 90hp tractor:001_smile: Could you describe the terrain in more detail and why it's an alpine in perticular that that your looking for? I like alpines i do the fact that you can get a 95hp 4wd tractor with artic steer that has the same foot print as a conventional 50hp tractor is amazing. But there are guys on this very forum that will testify that they sold their alpines because they couldn't justify having them and not working. I have looked into them with a view to going the small scale low impact route but it's a very small martket and thats all they do. Having said that if it was used as a daily grafter on an estate aswell as running the flail etc then i suppose it's down to personal choice.
  13. I'm torn between a u900/u1000 and a 120-130HP 40k tractor but i'm not looking to spend 50k on a rig because i don't have it plain and simple and most of my kit is older and well used but i keep it in order myself. I'd sudder at the thought of putting a mog into vos for a service lol It's just how i've been brought up i suppose. I know i would have the work for one though without having to travel more than 50 miles from home.
  14. The muller trailers are ballanced too arnt they Steve. You'd be looking at a 6 ton grain trailer max really then. I really want a small mog for versatillity and road speed. Mainly for towing chip or timber off site jobs and still have the chipper or winch mounted on the front.
  15. That bad lol its a tough situation really because the budget dosn't quite stretch to a hydraulic feed chipper really. You might get an arbor eater 100 for 2k but they are rated at 4.25".
  16. Mulchers need lots of power!! I do some work for a guy who has a 2.4m mulcher and he used it at first with a 130hp ford which didn't have the grunt!! A few tractors later and he now runs it with a 300hp case magnum and he says the mulcher needs it. These small machines are very specialist and thats why their big money to hire and they don't come up second hand. To be fair I'd be dubious of how effective they actually are. 60hp might be the min hp rating but to use it effectivley it might really need 90-100hp If i was an estate owner i couldn't justify the tens of thousands of pounds to buy a rig just to put a few rides in. If it's too soft or too tight for a full size machine then why not invest in some man hrs to do it the old fashioned way lol
  17. I'm interested to see how the smaller mogs tow such as a u900 or u1000 ie tonnage on the road. Do they have to tow balanced trailers where the wheels are mounted in the middle of the chassis or will they cope with a normal grain trailer? When i look on the web most u900's seem to tow dolly style trailers with a wheel at each corner but also seem to be abroad mostly. I know there are few u900 owners on here and i welcome your opinions:001_smile:
  18. I'm glad to see your getting some good feedback!! I think i was a bit too quick to comment origionally for which i'm sorry lol It's the 7.5tonner that made me question it as i looked into running a daf tipper with grab and couldn't justify all the o licence and maintenance records. Decided to go the tractor route instead. I'm a subbie and i aim for a grand a week too. Don't always get it though
  19. Debogging Recovery Well named
  20. His name is Keith and this is his number 07715370789. They advertise on ebay sometimes nd there based near Castle Douglas.
  21. There is a firm a bit lower down than you Stephen that specialize in recovering kit. Some of their photo's are unreal!! 22ton excavators burried that deep you can't even see the cab, just the end of the boom and bucket sticking out of the ground. Another was a timberjack with just the cab sticking out of the mud. Handy guys to know when it all goes Peat Tongue.
  22. I hope it sell's bud! All the u900's i've seen have been hangin off the road and they still want the same sort of money as your asking. What's the Mileage/hrs on it? and does it have a pickup hitch on it? Have you done much towing with it? Would it handle a 8 or 10 ton grain trailer loaded with chip or a medium sized forwarding trailer or would there be too much weight on the hitch? Most mog trailers seem to have the axels mounted in the middle of the trailer.
  23. There must be a few grand in the axels, gearbox and pto box surely!! I'd have a crack t pulling it out if it nearer!
  24. Hmmm i suppose it's diifferent strokes and all that but we put a straining wire on first then net, posts then barb. Depends on how far between straining posts gradients etc but what i will say is the first time i saw a quick fencer in action i was convinced on the spot that there is no faster easier way of putting up stock fencing ever!! Makes it look soooooo easy !!!
  25. Thats what i thought!! I've been watching it too lol Your right though there was a newer dumper with controls the right way round,4 speed box and a honda diesel engine and that fetched just over 2k.
