  1. J what % of the daily cost is down to the heaters and what is down to the fans?? I have a fridge body collecting moss and was thinking about lining it with radiators and having a stove with a back boiler pumping the hot water around. Do you run the fans 24/7?? I was also looking at those solar polytunnel fans but figured multiples of them wouldn't cut it!!??
  2. L200/Ranger super cab. Later on you could ditch the rear tub and mount a alloy tipper bed for a lot less than a pro tipper. I would advise against crew or twin cab's because only hold an eye full. I get close to 30mpg on motorway runs. It'll be as close to a 130 tipper as you'll get but with about 5k still in your wallet.
  3. Point taken Still worth a try
  4. Forestry and horticulture are two sub sections of Ag regestering. So the vehicle can be ag registered and never see a farm or anything agricultural!!! If you have a bedford that hauls tools and fuel up into the woods it can be Ag registered as a foretry vehicle. If you have a kabota tractor that cuts hedges and grass around a plant nursery then it can be Ag registered. VOSA's line on Tree surgery is that it's NOT forestry so using a Ag reg mog for tree work is running the risk of testing the grey area. As for Cherry B nothing can run any distance on the road using it apart from specialist vehicles ie gritters, cherry pickers etc etc. Ag contractors run on the road on white then fill up with red in the fields then back on white for the road. If you do get stopped by HMRC running red your best argument is that you have been working off road up in the woods or what ever running it on red on site. Show them a recent white diesel receipt and explain that you plan on filling out a declaration online of the miles you have done on the road using red and plan to pay the tax on it at the end of the quarter. You can do this and many do but it depends on how funny they are when you get dipped. I'm not condoning running on red but i do know a farmer that bought a 10 plate defender 90 and it's never run on white since it was delivered. He is Irish and is also convinced that engines run better on red?? how does dye make an engine run better lol
  5. You mean Mr Big tackle himself can ressist the urge to buy a new unusual bit of kit
  6. Agreed!! which makes me think cashing in on the ignorant selling a product for a premium might be a good idea in the short term. £140 a cube seems to be the going rate for kiln dried. I was thinking of selling in three sizes, .25 barrow bag @£35 .5 80x80x80 dumpy for £65 and 1cm3 for £125. People are still getting their heads around volume and bags up this way and i know there is only one chap selling 1cm3 bags most are .5's sold as builders or bulk bags. The way i see it the price of the product has gone up but the overheads are coming down so it's all relative just with less graft involved.
  7. You really can't win lol I do feel that in the past ten years the job has changed so much!! My parent have been in this business for about 25yrs and when i was a teen we used to deliver 2 different sized loads, pickup back full or tipping trailer on the back of the tractor. The logs could have been cut from trees felled that day!! It was upto the customer to season their firewood without a doubt. These days it seams like firewood is a mainstream consumer product. It wouldn't suprise me if you'll be able to order a cube of firewood from tesco whilst doing your shopping soon. I fully understand that their are industry standards these days but of late the amount of awkward customers i've come across has increased and i'm not being funny but most of them are new stove owners that are a little ignorant. One example a gent who expected to be able to put a split log straight ontop of kindling, then phoned me back and told me my wood is no good "IT JUST WONT BURN". The other thing i'm sure everyone is aware of is the fact that relative humidity is in the 80% region with temps not getting over 10* It's hard to get the wood to a standard.
  8. Do it propper!!! transit 190 crew cab tipper!!!!
  9. As it say's really, we have been forced to have a rethink on the firewood front due to moving of yards and the lack of space for erecting polytunnels etc We are thinking of just retailing kiln dried hardwood. I've found a UK suplier of UK sourced hardwood selling it stacked in 2m3 crates as per the eastern block stuff. I does mean we would be able to sell tractor and splitter, saw bench etc. But this all depends on how much you can get out of a crate in bags. People quote 3 cm3 bags from 2 m3 stackeddoes anyone have supporting evidence ie have done it them selves?? Cheers Guys
  10. Hahaha calm down lol I'm done with little chippers!!! Making the best of what i've got for now then i will be going for TW150 or a quadchip. I was just throwing it out there for everyone else. It's rated at 5 1/2" and i was impressed with the way it chips. I wish id have picked one of these up as my first chipper instead of the bearshat!!
  11. C21 Hansa Chipper Petrol Version Sorted!!!
  12. unfortunatly their made in NewZeland and sold in Australia. That model is $14000 AUS dollars which similar to the euro. There is a company that imports vineyard machinary wine making countries and they deal with Hansa so you may be in luck in France!! I'll see if i can dig up a link.
  13. We need a UK dealer lol this has to be the best entry lvl chipper i've ever seen!!! What do think guys???
  14. Love the little bandit gonna do some window shopping now lol
  15. Hahaha been there!! taking 20ft runups down the street lol then trying to juggle a little stump grinder in at the back of it in a 8x4 cage trailer lol Good times:001_smile:
  16. :lol::lol:
  17. Like i said it was nice to drive and that i don't own one so have no long term experience of running one. 3 gearbox's and a diff in 35k!!??? What are you doing with it lol
  18. I must admit i'm a +1 for the defender, i had use of a 10 plate 90 with the tranny engine and the 6 speed and where pulling a (lets say loaded up) 14ft ifor effortlessly!! When not towiung it was almost car like to drive!! Very nice just wise i could afford my own. But at 17k for a bogo standard machine and i mean not even leccy windows!! Its a dear do. I fancy a look at the new ranger 3.2 tdci 200bhp!! That should tow. I think you need to work out wether you want a 4x4 or a pickup because they both have their own merits. If you went pickup then a navara wouldn't be at the top of the list!! I personaly like l200's (each to their own) But if you want a 4x4 then i would want a tdv6 disco commercial!! My mate uses one for delivering small plant and swears by it.
  19. I think the 13/75g is a great little machine!! I did a review on here last year. They love long straight pieces but you will allways struggle with things like hawthorn, blackthorn and tight knarly stuff!! I used put some smaller stuff in and fill the hopper then fire some bigger stuff through which in turn pushs/drags the small stuff through. If you oly have small stuff then it's lopper time!! I used a small woodend sweeping brush to prod things through also.
  20. To be fair i owned a disco 1 tdi300 and i loved it!!!.........But it did spend more time being spannered than working!!
  21. Air bags seem a bit extreme dont they?? were putting some coil springs inbetween the leaf and the top bumstop on my l200 but struggling to find the right length spring. Should give it more capacity with out the arse end sticking up in the air.
  22.:lol:My dog could turn out more cube per/hr!!!
  23. Diesel Chipper - YouTube Here it is..............Not impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. It is chinese go on alibaba.com its full of that model. It's a lambardini clone engine with exactly what steve said an old wood pecker snotted on the back!!! If you treated it as a 4"or5" machine it would be half capable but not at that money!!! We have a old pto woodpecker and it chips brash but we only paid £1200 for it new about 10yrs since and don't expect much from it!! If it let go tomorrow we would weigh it in without a seconds thought about it as it's paid for itself many times over!!
