  1. The one on ebay with chipper and crane is a u900 this is a square cab u1000 ish i think.
  2. The pic is from google images i typed unimog crash!! Dosn't seem to be any cab damage other than windscreen. Would interesting to know the full story if it does belong to a member of our community.
  3. Here you go Le this is Pete Tounge
  4. Isusu's 3.0lt direct injection engine had major major head aches on the trooper!! and was nowhere near asgood as the older 3.1td. New model l200 have excellent turning circle but older ones like mine comes in tied with a shell oil tanker on the comparison test The new ranger looks very impresive on paper especially the 3.2 tdci with it's 200hp!!! over a 1200kg payload and 3300kg towing is almost 130 ballpark but with refinment and better mpg but again not been around long enough to see if it will hold together.
  5. I use an l200 single cab and can fit 2 bags on and i have hi sides on so can get 2 m3 loose no worries. It actually holds a midgy's under 4m3 but don't dare fill it I have a 105 ifor tipper aswell for multiple drops too. I used to have a tranny tipper with a 7ft wide alloys bed and that might aswell of been a 7.5tonner when it came to access. Could hardly get in anywhere.
  6. Aye i've been toying with idea as i saw a few l200 v6 lpg's and can't help noticing that lpg is roughly half the price of diesel at my local garage 2 miles from home. Then i noticed the towing cap and payload of the f150 in regards to pulling caravans and thought that would look smart with a chipbox and locker on the back and i bet it wouldn't bother too much towing the chipper either!!
  7. Hahaha Yeah Le the first one pal
  8. L200 all the way!!! Mines on a p reg with 172k on the clock Keep it well serviced and dont kick it's arse and it just goes and goes and goes lol I'm gonna get some laughs here but i'm replacing it when it get's to 200k and i'm thinking of going for a f150 4x4 manual with lpg conversion. Do you reckon peter will do a pro tipper for one of them
  9. Abit quiet down there ehh?? I must admit the job's not on fire up here but i'm ticking over well enough. Got my hands on plenty of arbwaste to keep me out of bother
  10. Just upgraded as the tw is getting tired and what a difference!! These machines are poles apart!! Tracking is faster and sharper, hopper is bigger nowhere near as much snedding needed, feed rollers are better, fuel tank is bigger. It produces really nice chip, I'm in love!!!!!!!

  13. Is this on Ebay at the moment?? Ford Tw 20 tractor | eBay
  14. Cheers Kevin
  15. What happens when you've smashed your body after 20yrs of graft and can't hack running up tree's everyday?? Take up selling double glazing?? Would you employ a 55yrs climber with bad joints?? Cheers for pointing out the dead post i missed that bud.
  16. I'd say don't cheapen yourself and don't get hung up on climbing!! I'm a climber but don't pretend to be a good one and i'm open about that. My background is forestry and i've only gone into arb in the past 2 yrs but i earn more on the ground than most climbers. Reason being is i'm an alrounder i can fell a 70ft tree in advers conditions, i can drive a tractor and operate machinary. I can tend ropes and have no problems with rigging. In the past i have taken the lead of other peoples teams while they had to go off site. I love climbing but if i can earn as much if not more on the ground then why kill yourself?? I've built up my arsenal of plant/machinary and now tend to sub out kit+me as groundy 2nd climber which increases my income dramaticly. I'm not having a go at anybody but this industry does have an almost elitist attitude when it comes to freelance climbers. I've met some people who crack on to be veteran climbers and to be fair their not worth a carrot when it comes to getting the job done!! And lets face it the smart climbers are the ones with their own companies that now pay someone else to climb for them!! If i was you id prob look to secure a few days a week with a firm the fill your free days with freelance work. That way you have some security but are still getting yourself out there meeting and greeting fellow members of the arb world. Last but not least UNDER PROMISE and OVER ACHIEVE!! If you go in there saying your the dog's bollocks and really you've been climbing for 6mnths you won't get anymore work from them full stop.
  17. ARHHH but it's only 9ft long!! at £25 i would need to be 20ft:001_smile: To be honest all the classifieds look like theve been uplifted with a hiab lol
  18. I've got a few days available for the end of March 26th,27th,28th and i'm taking bookings for April Will travel throughtout Lanc Cumbria Yorkshire and Northumbland. Block booking are encouraged lol Also have a base in Dumfrieshire and can provide a similar service throughout SW Scotland.........I'm branching out soon Europe.......actually no you can keep Europe hahaha
  19. Now thats why i like arbtalk!! If you read enough it's just as funny as watching live at the apollo on dave:biggrin:
  20. I've done it myself i'll be honest!! Read something too quickly and posted a reply even quicker!! Then gone back when someone has pulled me and realized i was wronge!!! It happens and the difference is being able to hold your hand up and not start getting all keyboard terrorist. I think arbtalk is an invaluable source of information gained from other people in the industry that have experience on hand. I know there are a good circle of people on here that i can have banter with and i find i have more good times on here than bad.
  21. Yeah i think it's one of them instances in life that just happen. I've been operating saws for near 15yrs now and this is the first time i've been bitten by one. I'm not letting it faze me because i know i have a safe working practice and my gear is maintained. It could have been a silky or a spade or a long list of other implements. If think HSE has it's place but when it takes longer to fill in the paperwork tick the boxes cross the t's and dot the i's than it does to actually do the job it has gone way to far in my opinion.
  22.:lol: Saddleworth is in a time warp not a different time zone:001_smile:
  23. I didn't think they had any power to start with lol No seriously though you may have hit the nail on the head. If the diaphram is leaking you can fiddle with the carb all you want but it will still go out of tune. i'd bite the bullet and get it into a shop it will save headaches in the long run.
  24. Cheers J lol I'll see what i can do To be fair i'd be hard pressed to ruin these looks hahaha
  25. Done myself a mischeif last week I was dragging some brash to the chipper with my right hand whilst carrying the saw with my left(running but brake on). I stumbbled backwards and landed on my backside. The helmet came off and the bar of the saw hit me in the face. I gathered myself and stood up to quickly realize i was leaking!! I thought id bust my nose so i pinched it at the bridge and started walking back to the pickup. I was a bit puzzled because it didn't stop bleeding i had a look in the wing mirror to find i'd opened up my nose good and propper!! One of the teeth had cut clean through the bit inbetween my nostrils leaving it a bit flappy Daniella westbrook style I also had a gaping cut on my right cheek about 2" long but 1/4" wide. I drove myself down to the hospital and went into a+e where i was seen to quite quickly. They refered me to plastic sergery and set about stitching my nose up. I can honestly say it was the best and quickest A+E visit i'v ever had!!! I was out and back on the job by 2pm :001_smile:
